There but for the grace of God? And let’s put things in a nutshell. The smallest nutshell we can find. The God nutshell. Here in the US a very large majority of people believe God is a hairy old man who lives in the sky and if you are suffering it’s your own fault because God is testing you. Please. Even if he is in the sky, God doesn’t care anymore. And I’m suffering because I have a degenerative disease. So in just about every other advanced industrialized nation, God is just a metaphor. Because they understand what suffering is. Here in the US tea bag partiers think they are suffering because they have to pay taxes. Please. I want to tell people like that to go to a computer or a dictionary and search for the word suffering. Well, they won’t because it means they might have to learn something new. » Posted By dildenusa On April 26, 2010 @ 10:32 am Now I live in Arizona and I think the truth needs to be told about the short sighted politicians and their Anglo-purity laws. Politicians here had been trying for decades to woo people to come here to live the “carefree” life. There is even a town called Carefree. But it was seen as a one horse state. The last of the lower 48. The old frontier mentality and the gunfight at OK Corral in Tombstone. Well then Alaska became a state and Arizona was no longer the old frontier. Then the real estate developers hooked up with or became politicians and the race was on. If you build it (cheap houses with cheap Mexican labor) they will come. Now we are 2 years into the worst recession since 1930-1940. And population growth has slowed. So now the politicians are looking around wondering where did all the illegal Mexicans come from. Duuuuuuuhh. Mexico. » Posted By dildenusa On April 26, 2010 @ 11:04 am How do I take my tea? With honey and brown sugar of course. » Posted By dildenusa On April 23, 2010 @ 8:12 am Very good. Then I saw this on tomdispatch.com http://www.tomdispatch.com/post/175236/tomgram%3A_rebecca_solnit%2C_v_for_viability/ It’s interesting living in Arizona because there is little in the way of oil or gas and most of the extraction industries are mines. The gold and silver are gone so today it’s copper and manganese. I get a laugh out of the tourists who come here to see places like Jerome, Oatman, Bisbee, and some of the other old mining towns that have been turned into “ghost town boutiques.” Little do the tourists realize however that these places are considered toxic waste dumps since 75 to 100 years ago there was very little regard for the local environment. What’s changed is that waste water from mining operations is recycled in the mine however they still dump toxic tailings. » Posted By dildenusa On April 22, 2010 @ 6:16 pm Prior to microsoft and adobe gobling up software companies to push their vision of the future, photoshopping, if I may call it that, was called “air brush out” and air brushing negatives was a high paid, high skill profession. So whatever you want to call it, years ago it didn’t take software. Of course the problem today is that for what it costs to buy the photoshop software, one person could retouch 1 photo with an airbrush. But with the software one person can retouch thousands of photos much more cheaply and nobody will know. » Posted By dildenusa On April 20, 2010 @ 7:38 pm It’s My Party and I’ll Cry if I Want To Our political leaders in Washington were caught napping while the Earth under them rumbled and trembled and they found themselves buried under an avalanche of anger across the entire political landscape. The Democratic representatives from center right districts who voted against health care reform for their own self preservation will probably get a kick in the butt anyway this November. I think they should have taken a GPS class before the vote on health care. Teddy Roosevelt was a true conservationist. Even though he was an avid sport hunter he came to understand that the natural world wasn’t something to exploit for short term economic gain, and that stewardship while noble still falls short. » Posted By dildenusa On April 19, 2010 @ 9:30 am It’s a given that our Sun as it ages will heat up and eventually make the Earth uninhabitable and don’t forget that comets or asteroiods can buzz the Earth with very little warning even with our sophisticated observation technology. Also a supernova going off nearby within 10 light years will send enough radiation this way to sterilize our solar system. I think President Obama has the long term vision that our country needs. Instead of focusing on short term political gain he is focusing on the big picture. » Posted By dildenusa On April 19, 2010 @ 7:52 am I heard this a few weeks ago. It’s a shame. The FBI and law enforcement were on the Weathermen, Symbionese Liberation Army, etc. very quickly. But with the rise of the right wing terrorists in the late 1980’s and 1990’s the government took a hands off approach even though they knew who many of these people were and what they were capable of. All you heard about was the Ruby Ridge and Branch Davidian events. And they were considered isolated events. Now what is scarier is the instant communication that these right wing terrorists have at their disposal and the fact that they believe it’s OK to plot against the government and cry foul when they are exposed by wiretapping or informants. It’s obvious now that the Bush – Cheney administration with their failed policy of fighting terrorists by starting needless wars, set this nation back several years in protecting it’s citizens. » Posted By dildenusa On April 15, 2010 @ 1:33 pm Tea Party Ingredients: Old Hateful White Males on Social Security What we have with the tea bag partiers is the old myth about poverty and the poor being brought back by demagogues on the extreme right. The myth being that some people like to live in poverty because they are lazy and want a handout. Or they are drug addicts who refuse to get clean. There are people on the right who actually believe that if you are laid off because of a reduction in the workforce it was your own fault and if you collect an unemployment check you are a deadbeat. The current recession is doing more to debunk the myths about poverty and the poor than any sociologist could ever do in a lifetime of research. The truth is more like government policies which since 1980 have favored a small percentage of wealthy individuals and families at the expense of ordinary people. So now the tea bag partiers instead of looking at the truth which is staring them in the face, turn to myths which have already been debunked. » Posted By dildenusa On April 15, 2010 @ 12:48 pm It sure is. I can’t imagine what their reasoning would be. And the further Right, the more pathology.” For the most part I agree with the statement about sociopathology of people on the right. Faith is a large part of this. And blind faith is absolutely essential whether it’s religious or political or economic. However, I know sociopaths on the right and on the left. And the pathology always takes the same form when it starts. Dishonesty born from cynicism. Also, in our unbridled, unfettered, unregulated capitalism, lying and cheating becomes an easy way to gain a leg up. Ironically in an extreme socialist system, the same thing happens. Lying and cheating is used to “game the system.” » Posted By dildenusa On April 8, 2010 @ 12:56 pm Thanks for putting everything in perspective. I don’t know a lot of the legal logic in telecommunications, however, I have worked in the industry and because of the way cable companies distribute internet services they do come under the FCC umbrella. Generally, phone companies when distributing through land lines, have different regulations regarding the internet, than cable companies. It seems to me that these partnerships like with Verizon and Google, might be only in broadband wireless services to smartphones or netbooks. It’s all part of modern life. I know that nothing is ever as it seems. Politicians, in fact, anyone who desires to be a leader is trained to never become predictable. And hopefully they will have some training or experience as a leader. Think on your feet, carpe diem, think outside the box are the leader’s mantra. The challenge in the age of the split second 24 hour news cycle is how do I tell the difference between cognitive dissonance and bald faced lying hypocrisy? I think this is where body language and nuance become critical. When I watched Colin Powell go before the UN secutity council and try to rationalize why we’re going to invade Iraq, I could tell he didn’t want to be there but was being sent up by Bush and Cheney to be the messenger. So what does body language and nuance tell us about President Obama? Personally, I think the jury is still out. » Posted By dildenusa On April 4, 2010 @ 2:58 pm The Skeksis are in the Vatican! Don’t lose the irony here. History is repeating itself. The message Jesus brought to the Jewish people 2000 years ago was this. The corrupt temple priesthood was in cahoots with the Roman overlords and it was a simple matter of disobeying them both and acting as if neither the priests or the Romans existed. After all, would the Romans crucify every rebellious Jew in Judea? Who would be left? The corruption in the priesthood of the Catholic Church today is very similar. Look what happened in the 16th century with the Reformation. Will the Vatican excommunicate every Catholic if nobody shows up for mass. Of course not. » Posted By dildenusa On April 4, 2010 @ 9:55 am History of the World, Part 1– Passover Edition So this year Passover coincides with Holy Week and just by coincidence we have our favorite hypocrit neo-cons spewing their drivel out on the internet. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/03/31/palin-warns-of-second-holocaust-if-iran-gains-nuclear-weapons/?fbid=YmbdxLjX1Xh http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-scheer/sarah-palin-neocon-messia_b_519643.html I’m not fooled by any evangelical neo-con and their “support” of Israel. Their belief in The Rapture and intolerance of ideas outside their “Cult” is insulting to me and should be seen as an insult to every American. Their support of Israel only extends to their belief that the Rapture and the Second Coming can only happen if Israel exists and all the Jews of the world believe that Jesus is the true messiah. Please. This is a 2000 year old myth that even today is being “myth busted” by Christian Theologians who do nothing but study it. Huff post refused to post my comment that Norman Podhoretz is the kind of Jew that when the Palin SS comes to round up all the Jews, he is the one who will help the Palin SS by pointing out all the Jews in the neighborhood because he thinks that by helping the Palin SS he will avoid being shipped off to the camps himself. » Posted By dildenusa On March 31, 2010 @ 10:17 am The definition of cognitive dissonance, part 2 Why do you feel sorry for this guy? 1. Troll – In scandanavian folklore any of a race of supernatural beings, whether a giant or dwarf, inhabiting caves or subterranean dwellings.
Based on my own experience I would say that a “toll” is a fishing lure.

As a prophet from the 1960’s once said, “Strange Days Have Found Us.”
dissonance – n. – inharmonious sound, incongruity.
