Piers Morgan Needs To Shut Up About Simone Biles!

Thank you. I had no idea Morgan had joined the fray, too. They all need to shut up about Simone. I also was looking forward to seeing Simone compete, but oh well. Life goes on, and so does hers, thank God.

A Firsthand Account: Infected With Novel Coronavirus

How can we be sure this is a coronavirus without his being tested or diagnosed? This was before COVID-19 was even known about, right? I can’t make sense of this timeline either. How do we know it’s not something else?

Mitch McConnell, The Gravedigger Of American Democracy

People I know who have had near-death experiences say that because there are no physical barriers between people, you feel the pain you caused others as your own pain. We also feel the joy we caused others as our own joy. It would behoove all of us to consider this. It couldn’t hurt. And it does feel like divine justice that people like Hitler will feel the pain of the millions he hurt as his own pain. Likewise, Mitch McConnell may even think he’s on the right path, but he will feel the pain he caused millions as his own pain. Same with the person in the White House, and hopefully not so long from now.

The “Curious” Attacks On Saudi Oil

When it does switch to gas, it gets 55 mpg. I did get a charging station in my garage. Between its cost and the installation by an electrician, that was about $1600, but I’m pretty sure we’ve probably paid for it by now in gasoline we never had to buy.

» Posted By Nonpartay On September 18, 2019 @ 7:41 pm

Our electricity comes from an irrigation district, so it’s produced through hydropower. Very clean. They only have to use natural gas once in a while if there’s a drought or something. My battery probably cost something to make, of course, environmentally, but the car is two years old, and I intend to keep it for the rest of my life. Meanwhile, the valley I live in, which collects pollution from nearby farms and all the cars, is not being polluted by me. I, at least, am not putting a bunch of crap into the air. And I’m starting to notice special parking places for EVs. Saw one at a nearby In and Out Burger. We go there maybe twice a year, not being one for eating this kind of food much, but when we do, we’ll be back there as a thank you. The local library actually has a free charging station, which was the only unused parking spot the last time we were there, so I plugged in because why not? 🙂 Things are looking up for EVs. Oh, and let’s not forget, my car never needs an oil change. Or if the internal-combustion engine ever does, I haven’t noticed so far, and the car keeps me informed of what it needs. LOL

» Posted By Nonpartay On September 18, 2019 @ 7:39 pm

Of course, the solution for us as individuals is to buy an electric car. I love my Chevy Volt and rarely have to put gas in it. I try to keep it half full so as not to drive around with a lot of weight I don’t need. The last time the car had to switch to gas we had a semi-long trip (70 miles round trip). I ended up putting $8 worth of gas in the car to fill it back up to half full. Most of the time, I don’t use any. I’ve spent $56.16 since the first of the year on gas. Not bad.

The MSM’s Whitewashing of Biden’s Racist Views Won’t End Well

Do you think she’ll get the nomination? I know people who like her really like her. I’ve always been sort of fascinated with her since the first time I saw her on The Daily Show. 🙂 Her schoolmarm persona just might appeal to enough “conservatives” that she could win the election even if some Democrats don’t vote.

» Posted By Nonpartay On September 14, 2019 @ 11:05 am

Aside from Hayes, Maddow, and O’Donnell, I’m finding it harder and harder to watch anything else on MSNBC. I gave up on Joy Reed because she talks too fast, and I needed a break on the weekends anyway. But the main thing that bugs me about all the shows is how they keep floating pictures of the Orange Meanie on the screen as other people are talking about him. Why? We know what he looks like. It’s not like we’ve never seen his face, and it’s not pretty.

I agree with you, as someone who favors younger candidates, especially Elizabeth Warren, that Democrats need to be appealing to Democrats. If all the Democrats and those of us who are liberal independents came out and voted in 2016, in spite of Comey’s last-minute nonsense, we would, as the protest sign said during the Women’s March, all be at brunch. There are enough Democrats to beat any Republican if they just come out and vote. I realize some districts are hideously gerrymandered, but even a lot of those districts had Democratic wins in 2018 because our people voted. We don’t need to talk any of the Orange Meanie’s fans into not being his fans. There are more of us than there are of them. But they vote. Therein lies the difference.

And btw, Joe Biden doesn’t have even half the Democrats supporting him. He may poll higher than the others, but his numbers have never been great. I have no idea why the media would be promoting him and ignoring his obvious flaws. I would vote for him if he’s the nominee and hope for the best—he’s certainly better than the Orange Meanie—but really, how about a woman? Someone younger? Someone more up to the rigors of the office? It couldn’t hurt.

Conservatism And Racism

All this reminds me of when I was involved in the Teenage Republicans. Hard to say if that exists anymore since I’ve been away from Republicanism since 1963, but in 1961, I was involved in this group. I quit when a bunch of Nazis attended our meeting and proposed something I’ve forgotten what it was, and the motion was tabled. Somehow, this meant that their proposal had some sort of value. At any rate, I was freaked out after that, having a Jewish father and all, so that was my last meeting. The idea that the Republican party had something to do with racism is nothing new. Its inherent racism was just jumped on by Reagan to help him win his election when he started his campaign in Mississippi. He should have been ashamed. They all should have been.

Hillary Warned Us About Trump

I have no idea. When I watched the Democratic National Convention, I was nothing but impressed with her. Her history is so exemplary, it’s hard to imagine a better candidate, which President Obama pointed out. So go figure that anyone would deny this country of her expertise. It’s nuts, and now we have a total nutjob in the White House. Lovely.

» Posted By Nonpartay On September 3, 2019 @ 10:12 am

I so agree with you! It bears repeating and was something I used to say during the runup to the election: “If using a private server was such a bad thing, others who had done the same thing would have gone through the same thing Hillary went through.” But of course they didn’t (and haven’t) because she was Hillary Clinton and had been trashed for decades by the radical right who glommed onto anything they could to try to dissuade people from voting for her.

I have to say, however, that in addition to blaming the electorate, we also have to blame James Comey who broke FBI rules and put out a statement about supposedly reopening Hillary’s email investigation when he had no evidence that there was anything else to say on the matter, the emails in question having all been looked through before (in fact, he never should have said anything about her during the campaign—ever). She points out that she was ahead at the time Comey did that in October. In fact, she was farther ahead than President Obama had been at the same time during his second campaign. She would have won the election if Comey hadn’t thrown that monkey wrench into the works. Now, you’re still right, that maybe we’re just a terrible electorate, especially those who paid attention to Comey’s letter, but at least we can take some small comfort in the fact that more people voted for Hillary than for any white presidential candidate in our history, and she would be our president now if it weren’t for Comey, along with the Russians, Republican voter suppression efforts, and lest we forget, the Electoral College.

Why a Biden Nomination is Likely to Elect a Republican President in 2024

You need to stop considering warfare as only a matter of soldiers with guns killing or bombing other soldiers with guns. Warfare is often conducted through other means, propaganda, for example. And people have been killed via the internet as they have been radicalized online to become ISIS fighters or white supremacists. The internet was thought to be a means of uniting the world. Instead, nefarious interlopers have taken over parts of it and used it for evil. Cyberwarfare is warfare, even if it doesn’t kill anyone outright. But when it enables someone like Hair Furor to be “elected” to the US presidency, which in itself has resulted in many deaths, including children, you need to rethink your definition of what war is.

» Posted By Nonpartay On August 24, 2019 @ 4:03 pm

Because, having found their influence to have been effective with the election of the most divisive president we’ve ever had, one who is Putin’s puppet, it is likely they will continue to interfere, especially in the areas of voting machines, manipulating voter roles, propaganda on social media, etc. Maybe that doesn’t bother you. It bothers me.

» Posted By Nonpartay On August 24, 2019 @ 3:57 pm

I’m not sure. I’m not even a Democrat but an independent. I will say, however, that we don’t have to get rid of the electoral college. All we have to do, and Common Cause is working on it, is get the states to change the rules for the electors that they have to vote for the winner of the national popular vote instead of just the winner of the vote in their state. That would not require a Constitutional Amendment. This rule has already been adopted by a few states, plus there are some who have decided they will once enough states are in that they total 270 votes or more.

The whole Iraq war thing was disgusting. I knew it was a scam and couldn’t understand how so many Democrats could vote for it although their constituents might have been urging them to because everyone was so unnerved by 9/11. But I knew Iraq had nothing to do with that, so basically, America attacked another country under false pretenses and caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, including more than 4,000 of our own, and for what? And the damage that wor did. Oh. My. God. I don’t know what to make of Albright’s answer.

If you are, as you claim to be, the only one who was fighting for the causes you wanted, well, it takes more than one, usually. I’m happy you worked so hard. You made friends, which is great. It must have been somewhat rewarding. Seems to me the trick is to get more people involved if you want to change things. Top-down organizations like this are usually amenable to change if there is enough support for it on the bottom. Recruit some more people to your cause, and get them to recruit more people, and it might help your fight.

» Posted By Nonpartay On August 24, 2019 @ 1:15 am

Please explain. And btw, your use of the term “Red Scare” confused me. I had forgotten what it originally meant as I was very young when McCarthy was having those hearings. Your term, “Red Scare,” seemed like it was about Russia’s interferance in our elections. I still don’t understand, however, what you’re talking about when you said “McCarthism is now fashionable.” In whose world? According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, McCarthyism has “since become a byname for defamation of character or reputation by means of widely publicized indiscriminate allegations, especially on the basis of unsubstantiated charges.” Who’s doing that?

» Posted By Nonpartay On August 24, 2019 @ 1:10 am

Well, it’s still pretty early. You never know what might happen. Heck, those two old white men could end up with health problems that preclude their actually running for the office. Like you say, anything is possible. And Elizabeth Warren is very impressive. After all, she was a brilliant debater in college! But let me repeat, I will vote blue no matter who in the general. It’s just that we got cheated out of a woman the last time. It’s about time we got with the equality program and had at least one woman president.

» Posted By Nonpartay On August 24, 2019 @ 1:06 am

As time goes on, I expect that will change. He’s familiar. But Warren is younger than he, a woman, and “has a plan for that.”

» Posted By Nonpartay On August 23, 2019 @ 2:36 pm

What makes you think the “Red Scare” hasn’t come back? The lastest Congresswoman to favor impeachment said it was because she read the first half of the Mueller report, which was all about Russian interference in our elections. Are you going to claim they had nothing to do with anything? The first page of the Mueller report states

“The Russian government interfered in the 2016 presidential election in sweeping and systematic fashion.”

To quote Malcolm Nance, we were attacked. It’s now the 20 teens! Get a grip.

::sigh::

» Posted By Nonpartay On August 23, 2019 @ 2:27 pm

Of course not. I’m always amazed that so many people think their negative vote will send some sort of message to the DNC or whoever it is they have issues with. You’d have better luck by joining your local Democratic organization and getting involved—if you haven’t already.

» Posted By Nonpartay On August 23, 2019 @ 2:25 pm

And I have yet to see a Democrat who is really evil. I was amazed at how people viewed Hillary Clinton as such without a shred of evidence. All they had were the lies told by the right against her for decades. We all have to be careful to make sure about our facts before we make mistakes like voting for Delusional Donnie because he was the lesser of two evils! As if!

» Posted By Nonpartay On August 23, 2019 @ 2:22 pm

Maybe. But any Democrat is better than what we have now. I do wish everyone would try to remember that in their desire to have the purest of the pure running on the Democratic ticket. I don’t care who the Democrat is, Republicans aren’t going to vote for him or her. But there are more of us than there are of them so the important thing is to freaking vote for God’s sake and not be so bloody picky about it once the choice of the nominee is made.
