The Top Five Questions The Media Needs to Stop Asking About Trump

I agree with your points on the question we repeatedly hear in the MSM, “Is this what will bring Trump down?” Only Mueller, a Dem Congress or…a massive Dem wave in Nov that scares Repubs to flee Trump out of self-preservation.

The fully or less conscious white supremacists and authoritarians who march behind Trump are as convicted as Nazi followers were to their Fuhrer. There is nothing Trump could do to lose their support, maybe aside from him kissing a gay black Muslim abortion doctor.

The Mueller trial against Manafort will come this Summer and I imagine there could be more indictments along the way. No matter what Trump is demagogueing about to rally his brownshirt voters this year, the Mueller prosecutions and indictments will whip up enthusiasm for Dem voters to turn out and discourage some of his base.

I know he’s counting on Russian interference to help him and Repubs this year but I think the Dem wave that’s coming will overwhelm all of that.

Then, with a Dem House, Trump is blocked from doing more profound damage, moderate to Progressive bills can be passed (if not signed) and the investigations into Trump and his criminal enterprise in the WH will kick into high gear. The Repubs built a hollow mountain out of a molehill on Benghazi, Dems will have dense mountains of corruption to mine out of Trump.

And I think Mueller will wait to see if Dems take the House before referring impeachment proceedings to The House because he knows it would be pointless with Repubs in control.

I don’t know that Trump has a compelling mask of sanity, Trump’s deviancy seems right out there for all to see. Denial is indeed a prerequisite for such a psychopath/sociopath and so is delusion.

I’d even add another diagnosis of Trump, as a completely unqualified person to do so. There is a type of psychopathy/sociopathy that seems very applicable to Trump. In addition to his Narcissistic Personality Disorder, which is a dangerous trait, he seems to fit the traits of someone suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder. See what you think:

A big thing that’s disappointing is the attraction that authoritarian narcissists hold for both ignorant and some educated people. They represent to them, in essence, a God type persona who can right all the wrongs…”only I can do this BECAUSE I’m like this.” That is, without conscience or empathy towards democracy, fellow citizens or the legitimacy of opposing points of view.

They want a God/Daddy to just take control of everything and make the world right again. But what is “right”? For many Trump followers, it means getting rid of what makes them insecure about the present and returning to a time of lower class status and oppression for minorities, women, LGTBQ, non-Christians, etc. And secretly, there are many otherwise “normal” white people who woud prefer the days of white superiority and domination in society.

We’re very fortunate Trump isn’t very smart or this could all be far more dangerous. If he was clever enough to have a more subtle and sophisticated con job, he might very well have succeeded in his dictatorial pursuit. As is, his obvious con game has and continues to work well with mostly the ignorant. Con men always pray on the ignorant, whether it’s Three Card Monte or a Nigerian prince’s email, preying on the primal greed of ignorant people to get what they want most is how con men take advantage of people.

The good news is that most Americans see through Trump’s blatant con jobs. The bad news is that around 35% of Americans are rubes (“Rubepublicans”?) who are so easily led around by his holding a carrot in front of their noses that they will chase after but never catch.

The current scandal over Rob Porter could be one that critically injures Trump’s admin and con job. When the curtain is pulled up, even for his supporters, on how Trump and his cronies have been jeopardizing national security and lying so grossly and frequently to cover up their support for a wife beater, at least some of the white women who supported Trump…and may have experienced sexual/violent assaults in their lives, may finally see through the con job of this sociopath.

Why We’re Not Live Chatting (or Watching) Trump’s SOTU Tonight

And what’s disgusting and terrifying is that Ryan, McConnell and the GOP are acting like loyal brownshirts, following their Fuhrer to install him as a dictator. They are conspiring with him to destroy the press, law enforcement and the courts.

This is an attempted coup to replace our democracy with a tyranny.

I’m fed up with the press and Dems gently dancing around what is happening. This is an attack on America by a traitorous political cult that is collaborating with this country’s enemy, Russia, to destroy America’ institutions, democratic system of government and promote division that tears our society apart.

Trump and Repubs are performing as agents of Putin and continue to welcome Russia’s ongoing cyber support of them. They are an Axis of Evil now and the first step is calling them on it.

The next step is having our institutions and citizens banding together to fight back against these traitors and investigate, prosecute and vote out all of them.

This is an existential crisis, Americans need to step up right now and stop this campaign to destroy our democracy dead in its tracks.

Of course, Mueller coming out with some major indictments very soon could help quite a bit.

WAPO’s first headline about the SOTU was about Trump being bipartisan, glad they’re running a story about how divisive and misleading it was.

Only thing about Borowitz’s satire is that Trump doesn’t get exhausted from faking empathy, it makes him angry enough to go back to the WH and kick puppies or tweet crazily, which seem identical to him.

Fact checking a Trump speech is easy. “Did he say something that he claimed was a fact? Yep, it’s a lie.”

That is exactly what I thought, the “All Americans are Dreamers” felt identical to “All Lives matter”. The attempt to strip minorities of sympathy and rile up racists to hate them for seeking understanding and compassion…that more deserving white people should have instead.

jj, it ain’t easy listening to Ol’ Sniffy as he performs like the obvious racist con man he is. And you’re right that the media grades Trump, the moron, on a big curve but Obama was attacked for using brown mustard and wearing a tan suit.

WAPO ignorantly ran with the message Trump’s cronies had pushed before the speech, that it would be abut bipartisanship and the internet kicked them silly, they changed that headline.

I really don’t understand why the media keeps insisting we’re supposed to forget everything Trump has done in the past year and judge him solely on the facade he puts on in a single speech that was written by someone else.

Fortunately, there isn’t as much toadying being done by the media after the Trump propaganda fest last night.

Thank goodness we’re not inundated with MSM pundits praising how “presidential” he looked because he could read simple english ooff of a teleprompter.

Mueller better move quickly, looks like the Trump Overthrow of the FBI is getting into full gear.

TrumpTime: Trump’s Madness is Making Time Speed Up

Kes, when I say Trump’s “shithole” comment was a bridge too far, I only mean for voters who weren’t slavishly committed to him. The 33% or so that are cult followers wouldn’t be turned from him if he shot their dog.

To get re-elected though, Trump needs those rubes who voted for him but weren’t 100% behind him. Without those voters, he can’t win and I think the “shithole” comment cemented him as a racist in the eyes of many of those voters.

FWIW, the polling for Trump and Repubs bumped up after those comments. Some may wonder if the corporate propaganda after the tax cut fraud had something to do with that but anyone who would be able to justify, “Well, he may be a blatant racist but I like his tax cuts so I’m with President Shithole,” are a lost cause anyway.

Polls have been consistent about one key thing though, a majority of Americans disapprove of Trump no matter what he says or does now. The Women’s March yesterday affirms that the momentum and enthusiasm is clearly with those opposing him and those numbers grew. I’d guess part of that reason is the “shithole” comment and the many other things he’s said and done over the past year that are an assault on the sensibilities of people of conscience.

And it appears those numbers are only growing with each horrible statement he makes.

I couldn’t agree more about how important it is to hold an aspiring tyrant up to ridicule, to damage the propagandized, powerful image he tries to instill in the minds of the masses.

When he can be seen in ridicule, he becomes vulnerable and can be taken down.

Trump will never be able to undo the damage done to his phony image, mainly because he’s caused most of the damage himself and others simply shine a humorous spotlight on it.

I do think 2018 will be a better year than the last two, we finally can do something meaningful to stop The Madness of King Trump and we will. There will be so much enthusiasm out there all year to GOTV and elect Dems into power in The House and hopefully The Senate…not to mention high offices in state governments.

And the majority of the Mueller indictments are coming down this year, I think they’ll turbocharge the enthusiasm to vote Dem that’s already so powerful!

Hillary Dems vs. Bernie Dems – The Pointless and Soon-To-End Civil War

I think we’ll see the divisions in the Dem Party at the beginning of the 2020 primaries and even through a bit of them but it won’t be the same as Hillary vs. Bernie. Don’t forget, there was high confidence among Dems in 2016 that Trump couldn’t win and that the Dem nominee would become president.

It will be a very different dynamic, knowing the threat that Trump is and will be if he wins. Which makes me think that the divisions will dissolve very quickly once the nominee is elected. No one can claim that they don’t need to vote for the Dem (because of their pettiness) because they’ll win anyway. Now it’s well known that every vote is critical and that voting 3rd Party could re-elect Trump.

There are always crybabies so there will be in 2020 on the Dem side but I think most of those who didn’t support the Dem nominee to protest will see that protesting would only be giving aid and comfort to Russia’s puppet and America’s enemy.

I do like Elizabeth Warren, I like Kirsten Gillibrand and Adam Schiff and there are others who can suddenly step up as Obama did in 2007 and Bernie did in 2015 and build a strong following. I’m with you on Harris, she is fine as a Senator but she spends a lot of time positioning herself to run for higher office, a typical politician type, not what we need right now in a nominee. We need the 2020 nom to have a real connection with the people and come across as genuine on the issues.

I think we’ll have a very strong field of candidates to choose between in 2020 and after 4 years of Trump (if he makes it past Mueller that is), the country will landslide for the Dem and drown what remains of the GOP.

Hey Kes, you’re right about the divisions you describe with Democrats. The Progressive Dems and the Centrist Dems are the main camps and their differences are very much on a more socialistic and peace-minded nation vs. a more business-friendly and internationally aggressive stance.

These are meaningful differences but if we zoom out to include the GOP and Trump agenda’s, their agreement on most other issues brings them very close together and light years apart from Trump and Repubs.

Whoever runs on the Dem side in 2020, we can count on all of them opposing pretty much everything Trump has said or done and vowing to fix the damage he’s done to our democracy and nation. All of them will support protecting the rights of Americans, our social safety nets, fighting against the class warfare that this new tax abomination will only worsen, fixing the ACA and supporting a government option of some kind.

That’s a lot to have in common and faced with the prospect of 4 more years of Trump’s devastation, I think the common enemy will bring both sides together.

I think you got it! Trump and Russia are trolling to increase division among the majority of Americans.

Some may see that as a call to resist the manipulation, become more inclusive, tolerant and unifying.
