Incomes will rise!
Health care for everyone!
More military!

All with lower taxes for everyone!
He promised us everything but balloons and birthday cake.
And he just machine gunned all these promises.

What Would You Like to See From Dems and Obama at the DNC?

“There is no escaping that Romney and the Repubs have huge negatives. Their campaigning and commercials (including their SuperPACs) are almost completely negative and since the GOP Primary, have cemented the feeling of negativity around them as they have sought to inspire higher negativity about Obama.”

Yet the candidates are tied in the polls. How can this be? We need to exploit the negatives.
I want the convention to address ALL the talking points that the Cons are throwing at the Dems.

Saving Privatizing Ryan…As A Last Desperate Resort

Kalie, it is so important this year for activists to help get voters registered properly. Equally important is getting our Dems and left leaning voters to the polls. We can’t afford to be divided for the next few months.

» Posted By lynettema On August 11, 2012 @ 8:06 pm

“seems more like Romney’s focus is on minimizing his loss while going for a one chance in a million gamble than appealing to the most voters as possible by abandoning extremism.”

Seems to me this was the same thing McCain did 4 years ago.

The Importance of Being Earnest about Releasing Tax Returns, Especially Romney

I think he doesn’t care because he has believed he can buy anything he wants including the Presidency.

BTW, Reid could just be telling the truth as well as his source.

The Daily Planet, Vol. 187

I absolutely meant no disrespect. There are 3 things that really trigger me: the left wing sites that see no harm in dissing those liberals who are not in 100% agreement with them (like TO), Citizens United and keeping the Internet open and (relatively) free. I figure we can get information at some other site that is more reality based – at least at those sites that realize the demonizing of our president is going to lead to bad things.

» Posted By lynettema On January 11, 2012 @ 4:46 pm

So sorry, but I can’t even read anything that comes out of TO even if I might agree (I’ll never know). After President Obama was elected – the day after – they went negative on him inflaming all those liberals who didn’t primary for Obama. They continued the onslaught until I quit my subscription – or “fired” them as Mittens would say. I lost all respect for them and blame sites such as TO for the losses the Dems took in 2010. I have NO idea what they are saying these days, but I hope they are happy as our states and the House are coping with the right wing radicals that took the place of some reasonable Dems. The same radicals that did everything they could to obstruct anything beneficial for the average American. You get my drift. But posting articles from Truthout isn’t going to impress this liberal.

Debunking Spin on “The Map”

Along with your post and this statement, I have to say I like the way you think. So many seem afraid to predict a win for President Obama and Democrats. We must keep the White House and Senate and take the House for us to get anything done.

The Ravin’ – A Political Parody

So impressive. It is clear you are a heavy lifter.

Is Obama “Doomed”? (Or What the Pundits Won’t Tell You.)

Thanks for getting out there and working already. You are inspiring me to think about doing this before next year.
What we also need to keep in mind is that we MUST elect a Democratic Congress or we will continue to have a Senate (do we need 70%) that filibusters all that President Obama wants to do and a House that sends frivolous bills to the Senate. With the ruthlessness of the right, we can’t afford to take our eye off the goal if we are to bring this country back to greatness.

Born This Way?

I had the same understanding as you.

» Posted By lynettema On October 15, 2011 @ 10:47 am

Being hetero or homosexual is a way of being, not a preference. Pedophilia could just as easily be a preference as a way of being. Is there scientific evidence?

Pedophiles are most often heterosexual, but can be either or bi. It’s often more about power than sex. Sorry I am not giving you a link.

The problem with many Cons is that they don’t know the difference, don’t care about the differences because they like their prejudices. Perhaps younger people will get the “I’m Born this Way” message. Let’s hope so.

I have often thought that only those that think being gay is a choice are the bisexual. Are lots of Cons bisexual?

Forgive my ruminations. I’m no expert, just giving you my opinions based on observations and reading.

Occupy Wall Street Could Be a Seminal Moment … Or It Couldn’t

If all we do is air our grievances, can we call ourselves activists? The term “activists” suggests we are doing something to better current circumstances.

The Occupy Wall Street Thread

Great post. I claim ignorance to much of this while I assumed that my gov’t wouldn’t do something that would hurt the regular guy so much.
Let’s note how strenuously the right is working to overturn the newest financial regulations and how desperately we need more regulation.

If these people vote, it won’t matter how much money they spend. It is the disillusionment of the voter that the wealthy count on. The 99% need to learn about the power of their vote. It appears many of them have figured out that Corporate America is not their friend. Now they need to figure out which candidates are more likely to support corporate America. Then it won’t matter how hard Dems work to GOTV.

Hidden Democrats

I hear that NC has Art Pope and his billions buying up all sorts of elections in your state. I read an article in the NYT that said Democrats will have a very difficult time against him. That he is going after Purdue and the presidency in ’12. He sounds as dangerous as the Koch bros.

Can we talk? What do you say when the person asking is a right-winger?

“Recently there has been a slew of new research showing that the brains of people on the Left and Right are wired differently.”

I have always said about the RW, “Garbage in, garbage out.” When the only thing these people listen to, when they may have grown up hearing their RW parents, I think we can expect nothing less from them. I think our only hope with them is to challenge them to listen to something else – along with their rw media outlets – and then challenge them to find out what is real. However, this would take some real effort on their part and it is just easier to go along with FAUX. I hope kesmarn’s old friend is open to hearing something other than rw talking points. So far my rw friends are not.

I Was A Teenage Firebagger

Depending upon which poll you look at, they say that from 32% to 59% of Dems want to primary PBO. I think many of these are the Hillary supporters.

Separated at Birth…Or the GOP Lineup Revealed?

If these pics were of Dems, they would be all over the right wing blogosphere. Actually, my right wing friends would each have sent them to me. Lefties just aren’t as excited about doing this. But I have to say, “Good work,” BSM.

Ladies and Gents…The Real Rick Perry!

Thanks.

» Posted By lynettema On August 15, 2011 @ 3:09 pm

All very upsetting. Is there or are there links where all these Perry realities can be confirmed? I would love to pass them around, but there will be those that want proof. Thanks.

Presidential Primary Challenges Miss the Point

It is difficult to find liberals/progressives out in your neighborhood. While Republicans will trumpet their ideology over coffee, Democrats are afraid of saying anything for being shot.

» Posted By lynettema On August 20, 2011 @ 2:59 pm

Congress is out of town, but there are those trolls on the presidential campaign trail that harp on PBO at every turn – while they have NO plans to help anyone but the wealthy.

» Posted By lynettema On August 20, 2011 @ 2:56 pm

I see so many great posts on POV. Good minds here. What I would challenge this great bunch of minds to do is find some good slogans (the right does this wonderfully) that we can sell across the blogosphere. We need to frame this next election so that even the uneducated can understand it. This article says to me that maybe we could start with, “It’s the Congress, stupid.”

Casey Anthony: Guilty or Not Guilty?

1. First of all we have a LEGAL system. Through personal experience, I can’t think of it as a justice system. If justice happens, it’s a happy accident.

2. I’m not watching, but I am following the trial. I think she’s guilty as can be. The duck tape does it for me.

3. It’s not the parent’s fault that she is a sociopath. Why that happens, we don’t know, but I am sure the parents ask themselves over and over what they did wrong with her and what they could have done to keep this from happening. As dysfunctional as they may be, I feel sorry for these parents.

TAKE ACTION: Support MN Gov. Dayton in Gov’t Shutdown Over Taxing the Rich

The thing about the wealthy: They think that they have worked hard for their money and they should not have to give back if they don’t want to – shouldn’t have to contribute to SS, unemployment insurance, etc.
