Election Day 2012 – Open Thread Today – Live Chat Tonight!

Hello everyone. I am so busy because we just got power back on today. Just wanted to come in and say hello and it seems we are doing well. PA was just called for President Obama.

The Most Obvious Secret of the Election…Obama is Winning.

“And what effect could overconfidence have on turnout for Obama, could a meaningful number of Democrats shrug off voting because they feel their vote isn’t needed…and in fact obliviously create an opening for Romney to win”

A big resounding yes. Voter apathy is one of the biggest problems in this country. This election isn’t just about the president. It is also about control of congress.

Just try explaining to the average American that congress passes laws and not the president. They do very little work in congress because they have very little fear of being voted out of office.

Sad to say but some of those who have a bigger stake in fair government policies also have the lowest voter participation. I am hoping some of the things being said by Romney and the possibility of President Obama losing will scare them into voting.

But I am not holding my breath. There are the poor Fox viewers who may not like Romney but hate President Obama more. There are the church goers being told by their religious leaders, including black churches, to not vote for President Obama because of issues like gay marriage.

It will be up to a small and intelligent segment of the population that rarely votes to come out and vote. I know that may not sound nice but even Santorum admitted intelligent people don’t vote republican. Now let’s hope they use their intelligence to realize their vote does matter.

The End of Right Wing Talk Radio???

The right will doom themselves. Let them keep talking. I watched Game Change yesterday and it was soooo funny. Republicans inflicted Palin on themselves. They have no one to blame but themselves. Even McCain tried to avoid her. A little sad that an insight into a republican campaign is such a comedy show.

Promises Kept by President Obama

It is always nice to see a balanced and positive review of President Obama. It seems so often all we get is the opposite. It is no wonder the Southern Poverty Law Center has seen a dramatic increase in militia groups. The only thing that keeps me from giving up hope completely is realizing there are many people who are not buying the negative feed from MSM.

This is exactly what I find so frightening about so many Americans. Whether it is healthcare, worker’s rights, or the environment it seems Americans go against their own best interests. On top of it most of them are hypocrites like this woman.

It is some type of grand illusion? I still don’t understand it.

LIVE BLOG – Super Tuesday 2012

It is truly Freudian when they refuse to call him President Obama.

I never completely agreed with Kucinich 100% but he did have some good ideas many years ago. I don’t know what happened to him but in recent years I lost a lot of respect for him. It seems he had a hard time recognizing who his real enemies were. He started attacking anyone who didn’t agree with him 100%. Pretty sad because there was a time I thought he had a chance to make a positive impact.

I guess with the passing of Ted Kennedy the days of liberals knowing how to fight and win small but significant victories is gone. He wasn’t a perfect man but he got a lot done and I miss him.

Excellent post. You stated what I have been thinking and voicing so many times. Often I have been put down for saying it which was a bit mind blowing. Some of the same people putting me down are the so called progressives who in the past supported Reagan. I remember them telling me I needed to change and they put me down for NOT supporting Reagan.

Many like Kucinich became ineffective for the reasons you stated. It seemed they became content to make speeches and then walk away from the gritty work that had to be done. Work that sometimes involved compromise and slow change. I can only imagine if they had been around in the sixties. I guess they wouldn’t have supported the original Civil Rights Act because it didn’t include everything they wanted all at once.

I am also impatient for change and progression but I also have spent time talking to people, real people. I sometimes find the rightwing and self destructive views of too many Americans to be frightening. They actually believe in and support things that are against their own best interest. We have people in this country who depend on social security and yet vote for candidates who openly state they want to end social security. Fighting that type of mindset is not easy and yet people like Kucinich thought all it took was his talking about his ideology. Many progressives in congress are also living in a bubble. Time for them to do what they use to do best. Get back out here and connect with real people.

Giving Limbaugh the Bum’s Rush

I so agree.

She has always been this way. I don’t think she got along well with the rest of the cast.

I thought it was only 8. 13 is something I never thought I would see. This is like a belated holiday gift. Thanks for the info.

I think even Lonesome was a better person than Rush. I still can’t believe that was Andy Griffith. He was great in that role.

Huffington Post Hacklines – Vol. 1

Hello to you and thanks 🙂

When I read your post I felt like you read my mind. One of the things that bothered me was the lack of coverage of Occupy Wall Street at the beginning. It was only because so many posters kept questioning the lack of coverage that HP finally did a few threads. I know OWS wasn’t perfect but it did accomplish a lot of good things and it was people trying to do something about conditions in this country.

I was not a fan of the founder back when she was pro Reagan and a republican. I will admit that. But she was all over the place claiming she had changed and now we know it was all a game. Shame on her but fortunately people are catching on to her tactics. Thanks for the welcome.

I noticed things were changing for the worse. Also, there were people I use to see post regularly and I noticed they were missing. A few popped in and said they had been banned for a while. It was time to move on. Lucky for me another poster read how I felt and directed me here. Thank you for the welcome.

“fun is still a good thing”

How true. Thanks.

Thank You. I think I really stepped on toes when I started protesting about posts that were deleted. Some I agreed with and some I didn’t but none were offensive. I was interested in what they posted and having a dialogue and then the post was gone! I really enjoyed reading different views and that was being shut down. I learned so much from posters, including about this sight 🙂

Thank You. I have looked around and like what I see. Good articles and comments that also have a sense of humor.

I had been with them a long time too and got banned for voicing my criticism. I am of the belief that Arianna never truly left her Reagan and republican roots.

I am so glad to read this and had to commen. I no longer go to HP. I had been there for years and had thousands of followers and fans. I was directed to this site by someone who read my recent posts critical of their direction. Recently they banned me from commenting due to my criticism of their celebrity worshiping and hype. They kept emailing me to get me to agree to some rules and they would lift the ban. I told them in no uncertain terms that would not happen and stop bothering me . They are losing many people and I believe Arianna is going back to her republican ways.

The GOP Handbook For Training Your Woman

He will always be one of my favorites. I miss him and can only imagine the comments he would make about the 2012 election.

Time Out for O/T – Vol. 18

Just when I thought Romney couldn’t get anymore annoying. BTW I had grits this morning, lol, and I am not from the south but my parents were. We grew up eating oatmeal or grits for breakfast on cold school mornings in the north. Those working class staples warmed you up, kept you full, and were nutritious. What would Romney know about such things?
