Ted Cruz Claims That Arithmetic is a Hoax

I’d never work for that guy. President Penelope Cruz, I’d work for her. But wait … she’s Spanish. And Ted’s half Cuban. I’m totally out of luck here. Good thing these aren’t my life goals. 😉

Hi, Adlib. I like you article, however I only gave it a rating of 1 out of 10 because your numbers don’t add up. hope you understand. 😉

Republicans Commit to Using New Language: Benghazian

So the GOP has officially given up on fighting “Obamacare,” and have chosen instead to triple-down on beating the dead horse that is Benghazi, in a flimsy ploy to drum up what, voter enthusiasm? Is the Midwest and the South really so gullible that they could be swayed by this single non-issue? And do they know that the GOP has spent over a half-million of our tax dollars on pure obstructionism?

» Posted By jjgravitas On May 10, 2014 @ 8:23 pm

To the GOP, Benghazi hearings are like Woodstock festivals. 200 years from now, the GOP will still be holding Benghazi hearings … in flying cars. And they will be holding Benghazi recreations, the way they hold Civil War battle recreations today.

Taxes? We Don’t Need No Stinking Taxes!

What we need is to put an end to the conservative movement, put the religious right, the tea party & the GOP completely out of power. Get those normally voting republican to understand that they are voting against themselves. The GOP don’t exist anymore as anything but a distraction. When the GOP are in power they only make bad decisions. When they are slightly out of power, they do nothing but hold everything up. I was raised to believe that a two party system was a good thing. But not when one party – the GOP – is committed to ruining the country to benefit a few really rich guys. Pres. Clinton paid off his economic debt in eight years. It will take us longer than that even if we are entirely rid of the GOP. Vote out the liars!

There is bribery of a sort, when big money pays the big bucks for the campaigns of pols whose only stated purpose is to cut taxes and regulations, giving corporations and the wealthy a free ride while everyone else suffers. That’s bribery enough for me.

» Posted By jjgravitas On May 8, 2014 @ 12:07 pm

There is most certainly a problem with corporations not paying taxes. It’s a complex problem that probably will never be addressed until Democrats are in full control of Congress. The GOP only want to cut taxes so they’ll never touch it. The GOP & especially the Tea Party are funded almost entirely by corporations and other billionaires. And SCOTUS is entirely on the side of corporations as well. It’s practically a stalemate at this point.

Homeless Veterans, America’s Secret Disgrace

Kalima, I grew up in Louisiana, left when I was 14. Louisiana has a history of corrupt politics, but nothing compares to Louisiana’s current standard of excellence: persecuting veterans. My father fought in WWII. When he returned, he went to college on the GI Bill and became an engineer. Back then, we respected our veterans. When Bush II sent us to war, my thought was “ok, show us what you stand for.” And the GOP has shown us what they stand for. I’m not a religious man, but there is a Bible story that relates directly to this: The Golden Calf. In this story, the people put their wealth together and melted it down to build a golden calf which they then worshipped as a deity, in place of God, which made God very angry. I don’t remember what God did, but that’s not important. Today you might associate the results of their actions with Karma. The GOP now worship wealth and the wealthy above all else. The GOP’s persecution of veterans and the poor will come back to bite them, and it will bite hard. Karma can be a real bitch, and the GOP are gonna experience it, although I am quite sure they will not understand it.
Apologies if you have a problem with the word “bitch”.

Enjoy your weekend.

An Era of Repression – The Legacy of The Roberts Supreme Court

Obama will be remembered as one of our greatest presidents, in the ranks of Roosevelt, Kennedy and Clinton. The triumph of his ACA in spite of unending GOP opposition, along with his coolness when confronted with both foreign (Ending Bin Laden and old wars and avoiding new ones) and domestic conflicts (Clive Bundy who wanted to start another Waco, and other episodes of gun violence) will be the subject of books and movies many years down the road. The GOP will be remembered for the corrupt and hateful creeps that they are.

Keystone XL Pipeline Lies

Who benefits from the pipeline? The oil companies, not necessarily the USA. The oil companies are exporting a lot of their product to other countries rather than keeping all gas in our own country. For the last 14 years we have been concerned about our dependence on foreign oil, specifically oil from the Middle East. And in spite of that, Big Oil and the GOP are still fighting the emergence of alternative energy. And what are they doing to ensure that oil developed in the USA stays in the USA?

Under New Texas Law, Pregnant Women To Be Highly Regulated

Nirek, I think you’d probably be very unhappy in Kansas, as they push their religious views on everybody.
F.Y.I. Kansas is part of the Midwest; the Bible Belt consists mainly of the Southern states bordering the Gulf of Mexico. Not surprised you’d think that though, which is why I’ve been lumping the South and the Midwest together in some of my recent comments. Religious extremism is endemic to both areas.

The linked report outlines the actual plans Kansas has to regulate women’s reproductive systems. Surrender, Dorothy!

You know what Isn’t an April Fool’s joke? Both Kansas and Mississippi are planning to or are proposing laws to allow trying women for murder for miscarrying a baby. Knowing that was what took me a minute to realize that Adlib was kidding. The South and the Midwest are just a step or two from being completely bananas.

» Posted By jjgravitas On April 2, 2014 @ 9:31 am

Sadly, so true.

» Posted By jjgravitas On April 1, 2014 @ 10:13 pm

Ohhh, Adlib.

You got me.

Although it’s not implausible that the GOP might put forward a law like this, I was wondering what would possess Texas or any other state to pass something this absurd. Then I caught the line at the end.

It is an April Fools joke … right?

Chris Christie Cleared on Bridgegate by Wife

Christie must believe the American public, or his constituents anyway, are completely stupid, for him to put on an obvious snow job like that and expect the public to buy it. What’s he playin’ at? He could have his dog do the investigation and it’d be just as plausible.

Race-Based Research: A History Lesson for Mr. Ryan

Divide & conquer still works for them, but not as well as it used to. Social media is helping the little guy to get his word out, & network with all the other little guys. The corporations are dumping billions into this campaign, almost entirely for the GOP, to dominate the airwaves with TV, radio ads & FOX News programming. But that won’t affect social media. Net neutrality now!

Intelligence, etc., has nothing to do with race. It has everything to do with the individual, but it also has a lot to do with culture. Which is why you have brilliant people from across the human spectrum – Nelson Mandela, Stephen Hawking, Mahatma Gandhi, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, etc. And then you have black holes of ignorance like the American Midwest and South where they throw money at rich people that they have just taken from the hands of poor people, where they currently want to try women for murder for having miscarried a baby, where they want to limit the right to vote rather than run on their own merits.
Real brilliant.

Republicans Use Time Machine to Go Back and Blame FDR for Pearl Harbor

It’s too bad the current GOP/Tea can’t all go back to the 1940’s. They’d be lost without their FOX News / radio talk show echo chamber. Their kind of extremism didn’t play well back in the day. They would have been ignored. No one would have listened to them much less voted for them. And if they talked about FDR the way they now talk about Obama, they would have gotten the hell beat out of them. They may yet still.

Will Ukraine Be Putin’s Iraq?

Well done, Adlib. I certainly we are not stupid enough to decide to take part in whatever this Ukraine conflict turns into. It would be another Iraq for us, and probably much worse. The TeaPubs are urging the president to get involved not only because they profit from the military machine. They also desperately want to see Pres Obama do something stupid so they can reverse their opinions and then criticize them for it, and for the first time they’d be correct.

The Republican Charm Offensive…Less Charm, More Offensive

The conservatives can dish out the nastiness but can they take it? Don’t they usually whine like babies when anyone gets in their way?

» Posted By jjgravitas On February 28, 2014 @ 4:36 pm

I like your points Adlib. The GOP are spraying a lot of nastiness around, but it’s not sticking very well. They did the same during the Clinton administration and it didn’t work very well then either.

» Posted By jjgravitas On February 28, 2014 @ 4:01 pm

I’ve been following this on Twitter, watching the GOP make complete asses of themselves at every turn. The ‘best’ one is Arizona’s attempt to legalize picking on gays, which received a long of angry attention from our old pal George Takai, aka Uncle George, aka Sulu. I’ve always had my issues with conservatives, but the current GOP are complete monsters. Evil Incorporated. Someone suggested that the current GOP are the 21st Century equivalent of the Mafia. Just as evil. Just as criminal, except that they’ve bastardized the rules to where they more or less do what they want without prosecution, that is until enough people decide that they shouldn’t. Which begs the question: isn’t there some rule, some law against telling outright lies about people. public or otherwise, that the GOP is constantly breaking? Correct me if I’m wrong.
