Survivorman Circa 2009: Somewhere in NE Georgia Hospital

Well said, Nellie!

» Posted By TanzaniteDiamonds On December 22, 2009 @ 5:06 pm

So sorry to know you’re going through so much, KQuark. I empathize tremendously. You and Boomer bring up some very valid points.

Being in a hospital for a long time is brutal (my last hospital stay was 43 days long), and I’m still fighting a battle. All those damn tests! grrr….

You have my support and heartfelt concern. I’m so sorry that you’re going through such a difficult time.

Hugs of hope,

It’s Time To Rethink Re-Instituting the Universal Draft

I totally agree, Cher!

Great article from KK. What an incredible sense of humor he has!

I’m very anti-war, and I’ve always respected him for having served in Vietnam.

But now, I adore him even more, for really knowing and understanding “menopausal” women.

Please note that I would have responded sooner, but I was on “guard duty”, aka shopping Nordstrom’s “Shoe Sale”. No one was hurt, and everyone is happy, despite those annoying *hotflashes*, to and from the store.

Thank you again, KK!

Talking about Not Talking about Not Talking

Thanks for the ‘headsup’, PatsyT. I love them both! Cats AND dogs are wonderful.

As always, well said, escribacat.

I think you called it something like “PHSD” (Post-Huffy Stress Disorder) the other day? Very accurate!

Well said, Pepe. That’s the way I understood it, too. It makes sense.

I still crack up whenever I read Monk calling HP, “the hell”. lmao!

Thank you BDM, for posting Nicole’s link. I completely respect that Planet POV doesn’t want to “talk” about HP frustrations.

Obviously, we’ve all had different experiences at HP, and we all process things at a different pace.

Ironically, this was one of the first times I really wanted to “talk about it”, so I’ve signed up at Nicole’s forum. **smiles**

After last night (I won’t “talk” about it), I really appreciate it.

AdLib and UncleB, I really enjoyed your posts.

Tanzie

P.S. There are some very savvy writers here. Ya’ll never cease to amaze me!

The straight poop about Canadian health care

Hi Pepe: I did post that info to More Dimensions, moments ago. It’s in my comment history, if you want to follow it.

I also noticed that More Dimensions has his/her e-mail address in his/her or profile on HP.

Actually, you BOTH deserve credit for this very insightful and informative article; very interesting reading. Merci beaucoup!

Too much Stuff!

Thank you Tyler-Durden. This is great “stuff” from Carlin! He was, no doubt, a comedic genius. I love his genuine and honest sense of humor.

It also reminded me of the time my husband accidentally left the garage door open “overnight”. It was late when he arrived at home, and he inadvertently, forgot to press the garage door button, before coming into the house.

Unfortunately, the next morning I woke up to find out, that someone had broken into my car — damaging the glove compartment — and, had stolen my favorite black leather jacket, which was in the backseat of my car. Argh!

When the Police Officer arrived to take his report, I mentioned to him that, “I was surprised that they (whoever ‘they’ were) had taken my leather jacket, but didn’t steal any of my Phantom of the Opera or Classical music cd’s, that were sitting — out in the open — on the front seat of my car. ”

The Officer responded, “Oh Mam, that’s no surprise. Car thieves, which were probably young teenagers — in your case — never take the good stuff.”

Thanks again, for sharing. I also forgot to say “welcome”. I haven’t seen your name before. But I haven’t a chance to read all posts, that are here today (yet).

A warning about trolls

Don’t let them “hurt” you, O. That’s just what they want. And, I’m sorry they ever made you feel that way.

I’m completely thrilled to read the good news about your Mom. Hooray, you made my day!

You’re welcome, Monk. Can’t figure out “Raz”? That’s funny.

Actually, I agree with so many of your sentiments. I also must mention that I absolutely devoured your story about RobS. Fabulous stuff!

Keep your head up, Monk. Along with so many others, I enjoy your comments. Your intelligence is refreshing!

Excellent points, Pepe. I don’t see you as “naive” at all.

It’s just that human behaviour (from the trolls) is so doggone unpredictable. For whoever it was, to be doing that to you is, obviously, some keyboard warrior
out of his/her rabbitass mind. I’ve seen that “vendetta behaviour” as well, in the past. It IS beyond “creepy”. It has, actually, made me sick to my stomach.

But what *stinks* (pun intended), is that the “good guys” like you, leave. They’re the ones that should be leaving! I have a harder time with that, than some “troll out of control”. But, I respect your decision, more than words can say.

Pepe: KK brings up a good (peculiar) point about HP: Sometimes the comments disappear and reappear later.

» Posted By TanzaniteDiamonds On December 8, 2009 @ 11:55 am

Pepe! I agree with KK, completely. I will really miss your comments at HP.

You were one of the first posters at HP, who really caught my eye, with that adorable avatar of yours.

But it wasn’t only your avatar, it was also so many of your passionate and truthful comments.

Actually, I might be the oddball in the bunch? I’ve never taken HP that seriously; too many moments of “yellow journalism” at HP for me. So, I’ve always seen it more and more (especially with the troll situation) as kind of a cesspool of “stuff” — sometimes, just plain old “crazy stuff”.

But what has caught my attention at HP, is their impressive message board, with lots of cool features. Yet, how could something that “user-friendly” be so bass-ackwards, with the way they constantly squelch free speech? And, no “edit” button!? Gasp! Even Def Leppard’s forum (I say “Def Leppard” affectionately), has an “edit” button. IMO, it’s more than obvious, that lack of an edit button, is *intentional* at HP.

Although I’m not easily intimidated — I am very sensitive — and I can completely understand why you’d be frustrated and even “creeped out”, to the point of deleting your profile. You should never be at a place, where you’re not “comfortable”, so I empathize tremendously. (But hang onto that other sock? N’est-ce pas?)

I also realize that some trolls are probably reading this site, too. We all know that Internet sites are never a “private” thing.

Again, I might be the only oddball? I hope some trolls ARE reading this. Finally, they can see some genuine thoughts, that haven’t been scrubbed. C’est magnifique!

Rashomon: Twelve views of President Obama’s visit to Capitol Hill

That’s interesting, javaz.

Interestingly, she’s on Facebook (yes, I peeked a while back).

The picture of her on Facebook profile, looked very close to her avatar photo. She was standing next a boyfriend? spouse? partner for life? None of my business (I realize), but she put it “out there”.

Hey Andrea, if you’re reading this, you’re not as smart as you *think* you are. But you’re young, very young.

No Pepe: I’m sorry that I never had the chance to see your story about this horrible Facebook experience. Thank you for bringing this up again.

I’m so very sorry to learn this happened, although not entirely surprised, considering it was Facebook.

How awful. How dangerous! I don’t blame you for “forbidding” Facebook to your daughter at all. You’re one very smart and careful Father.

I started getting “creeped out” on Facebook, when I began noticing advertisements for things, I was innocently discussing with my friend in Germany, on her Facebook wall.

Example: We were once talking about a certain brand of blue-jeans. Guess what? The next day I received a blue-jean advertisement (in my e-mail connected to my Facebook), for the very same brand, that her and I were discussing on Facebook! Is that a coincidence or what?

I also agree with you about the “harebrained” idea of putting HP comments, onto a Facebook wall; what a horrible concept. No thank you very much.

I realize some people “love it” — including my friend in Germany — who now says I’m ‘paranoid’, and still loves communicating with her 38 Facebook friends, but I’m just not comfortable with it.

Pepe, we’re completely on the same page about this topic. I’m so glad you understand.

Kalima: You’re funny by saying “hissy fit”.

I completely understand what you’re saying. My computer used to do the same thing, whenever I tried to “delete” (or “remove”) my profile on HP, and I don’t have a Mac.

The computer would just sit there “gurgling” or whatever it was doing.

The little “hour glass” would keep dangling, but nothing would happen.

And, after two unanswered e-mail requests to HP — to close my TanzaniteDiamonds account — my account was always still *active*.

Hence, I’m still there now. Go figure? lol!

I hear you, Nellie. I’ve noticed other posters, complaining about the same thing, a couple of months ago.

It appears HP has, recently, fixed the problem.

Actually, I’ve written to HP (in the past) about the same concern, when I wanted to close my HP account. They never EVER responded.

At that time, I wanted to delete my account, when they went on board with that whole Social News/Facebook ordeal. I don’t want anything to do with that!

I don’t trust Facebook anymore. I also don’t like the fact that Facebook — requires your real name — for membership. (There’s got to be a way around that?)

If I sound kind of paranoid, it’s because I was stalked by a crazy person (not Facebook) on the Internet, many years ago. It took me a long time to come back to the keyboard, after that ordeal.

No wonder I’m so “shy” at times? **smiles**

Escribacat: What an incredible story! I’m speechless, and I’m in tears. From having read so many of your comments on HP, I always sensed that there was something really “extra special” about you. I just could never really pin-point what it was.

But, after reading your incredible story above, I now know why I always had those warm and fuzzy vibes about you. Not only are you an incredible writer, you’re an angel, for helping these beautiful Greyhounds.

I’ve also always wondered what happens to these wonderful dogs, when they’re no longer “racing”. My heart aches that they are so horribly treated, for nothing but a betting object, at the race track. There are, obviously, some pretty sick humans out there.

So, it’s extremely heartwarming and impressive to know that people — like yourself — do something to help them find a “forever home”, to be loved for life. Foster parents for these incredible animals, are very special human beings, with really big hearts (understatement).

It also makes me continually grateful to the foster mom, who took care of my kittens, before I adopted them.

Actually years ago, I used to work as a volunteer in “animal rescue”. Sadly, I can no longer do so, due to the fact that I’m in horrible health. I wish I could do more, but physically, I can’t. Yet, my heart still wants to; so your touching story, really means a lot to me (others too, I’m sure).

Thank you so much, for sharing this with us. Loved the photo with the cat, as well. Adorable!

Thanks for such a quick reply, escribacat. That’s very kind of you. Don’t worry. I’m just kind of a shy person, when it comes to “writing”. I know? Hard to believe I’m “shy” with all of those YouTubes on HP, isn’t it? lol! Don’t let those fool anyone. I “read” and “absorb” a lot of comments, from many posters. I just don’t always respond, accordingly.

Overall, I’m impressed at some of the really dynamic personalities I’ve seen at HP — but like so many of you — I’m also dismayed at amount of personal attacks, trolls out of control, and constant scrubbings. The hassle with the YouTube links also really irks me, but I won’t “go there”.

Escribacat, I must also say that I enjoy many of your comments (your cat stories are adorable).

Actually, I’ve learned a lot from SO many of you here at the Planet. Again, I say “thank you”.
