“At Last!”: How HP Continues to Cultivate Cynicism

HP has used inflammatory headlines to promote clicks for a number of years now. I no longer have an interest in visiting that site, let alone analyzing any of their articles. I’m finding that I am very happy with the news aggregate apps that I’ve downloaded and I don’t feel the need to check in at HP at all.

Was Pvt. Bergdahl Choosing Suicide?

Very well reasoned Murph. I agree with you. I think it does sound like a suicide note. Of course the right is condemning him: he spoke the truth.

One Veteran’s Opinion About the POW Swap

I agree with you Nirek. I think it was a good swap. And I’m disgusted by Sen. Mc Cain and others who are making this a GOP vs. Dem issue.

Huffington Post Finalizes Its Divorce From Its Bloggers

It’s great to see you too. I’ve been working a lot, so by the time I get home, usually no one is here, but I have been checking in regularly. Things have calmed down so Ill be around a little more now.

» Posted By seehowtheyrun On June 4, 2014 @ 9:29 am

Well said Adlib. It’s the end of an era. It’s very troubling: progressive radio was eliminated, and now, it’s impossible to have a debate or conversation at HP. Thanks for all you do here, and to all the other wonderful contributors. This is a good place.

Nick Vancour is organizing a little protest on Arianna’s FB page, suggesting we all leave comments there. You can red about it here:

Huffington Post Goes NSA on Its Members

Hi AdLib! It’s great to see you too. I’ve been reading things here since the start, but just haven’t posted much. I’m looking forward to participating more now.

Thanks. Great to see you too!

I got this from a search in the help menu up in the right corner of my profile:

you can’t upload avatrs
you have to go to
gravatar.com
sign up
upload avatar
it will then appear here and on any blogs where you comment and it is enabled

Worth a try.

Well done AdLib, nicely chronicled. I don’t think that HP cares about those of us who are objecting to the new policy. In fact, I don’t think they want us there at all. We post a lot of information: facts, links to the causes we support, etc… We write cogent, intelligent posts that can influence people, and that doesn’t serve their corporate interests. For that reason, I won’t give them the satisfaction of going away. I will continue to post there, even if it’s not as much as in the past.

Short Posts

Thank you Monicaangela. I’m very sorry for your loss as well. I’m happy to be here and look forward to good conversations with you too.

Thank you Kalima. Life kicks us in the butt and those of us who are fortunate enough to be able to do, so get up and keep putting one foot in front of the other !

You’re welcome, Monicaangela. I saw a mention of it on another thread, so I googled their names plus POV and found the articles remembering them. It made me very sad, so I wanted to post my condolences. I enjoyed their posts so much, both here, and at HP before that. I was here when the site first started, but I wasn’t confident enough to post. Everyone was so articulate, and I was a newbie blogger, so I mostly lurked. Then, my husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2011, so I didn’t have the time or energy to post. He passed in 2012. After that, I stayed at HP because it was familiar. I started coming back here after the first FB requirements, and made the full escape from HP with the most recent change. It’s so nice to see so many wonderful folks here.

Thanks Kalima. I googled them+POV and found the remembrances. Really lovely writing.

I’ve been here off and on since the beginning, but not so much for the past 2 years. I just learned today of KQuark, and Bito’s passing. I remember their brilliant writing, and wonderful personalities very well. My condolences to their families and friends. May they Rest in Peace.

I was appalled to read that story yesterday. Is there no party unity in the Democratic party? I would run those ads against Dems as well. Good for nothing DINO’s.

I was just thinking about missing HP today. I realized that I have been unhappy for months and months at the shoddy spin they put on their stories. Links to other sources are one thing, but they were getting pretty unscrupulous steering opinion based on careful excerpts of other articles and sensationalistic yellow journalism headlines. It was a convenient jumping off place to go to other sources. The community is what I miss. Times change, and I’m looking forward to community here. OF COURSE, this is a better site!

I feel the same way. And I don’t think we are being paranoid about it, in the least.

» Posted By seehowtheyrun On June 1, 2014 @ 9:13 am

I think they are trying to shut down conversation because the powers that be don’t want debate, or enlightenment on anything.

WATCH LIVE: Mubarak Resigns! Egyptians Celebrate!

I was there too. I’m spending less time there, but I have not cut it out completely. Trolls are pathetic. If liberals are happy, they’re unhappy. One of the complaints I read said,”is anyone in the WH looking at what’s best for the US?” At least the cretin who posted that was honest abut being an imperialist, I guess.

» Posted By seehowtheyrun On February 11, 2011 @ 10:03 am

Incredible ! This has been an amazing thing witness. Congratulations to the people of Egypt.

Corporington Post

Hello !

» Posted By seehowtheyrun On February 7, 2011 @ 8:11 pm

X2.

» Posted By seehowtheyrun On February 7, 2011 @ 8:08 pm

Trolls don’t offer differences of opinion. They offer nonsense, and take up space on the threads. They disrupt any honest conversation that may be happening. They are annoyingly misinformed, and proud of it. Honest differences of opinion are always welcome, and there were some there tonight. But that’s not trolling.

» Posted By seehowtheyrun On February 7, 2011 @ 7:53 pm

I’ve been bouncing back and forth tonight. No trolls on the main at HP. Not one. Maybe they’re off the payroll already. HP sell-out= Mission accomplished.
