Experience on Flight 253

Hi nellie,

I was thinking about the citation when I did this this morning; of course thinking about it and including the correct information are two different things.

So, if this comes up again, regardless of the source, what is your best advice and best steps so I don’t trip all over a copyright issue.

btw – rather than take up space here, feel free to send me an email. On the other hand, if you want to use this as a learning experience for some of the newer folks and as an example of what not to do, I’ll volunteer to be a PPOV poster child. I know it’s important to post as accurately and cite sources and credits. πŸ™‚

Always a learning experience!

The High Costs of Private Contractors

Good Morning Everyone!

“Bad Voodoo’s War” aired on Frontline almost two years ago.

If you’ve never seen this documentary, you should. The men of Bad Voodoo Platoon (National Guard) brought Iraq into living rooms around the world, and KBR was called out then for not doing its job.

Not me, but in some cultures…well you know. Eeeww!

Are we getting a tad bit too chatty? Remember Chatty Cathy?

Oh I’m doing well, thanks for asking. How are you? Actually, I’m above average because I’m on vacation this week. Don’t go back to work until next year, lol πŸ™‚

I hear you — levity is healthier than constipation — heh, heh.

So, those of us who are kitty lovers will start a blog for swapping kitty pictures and or videos; some levity is good, actually it’s healthy. Being too serious causes constipation…meow!

Em,

Scroll up and click on “Contact Us.” You can express your concern in a personal email to our PPOV Admin. I’m not sure what, if anything, can be done, I’ve also thought the same as you.

Jolted back to reality

Thank you Kalima, you are a dear.

» Posted By boomer1949 On December 27, 2009 @ 7:32 am

Dear Kalima,

I hear you, deeply know where you are and have been (believe me), and definitely feel your pain. As cryptic as it sounds to anyone else, I know you “get it.” If not, you have my email.

Love you,
boomer

Gary Trudeau (aka Mrs. Jane Pauley) is idealistic and is no different from any other “Ultimate-Not-Tomorrow-But-Yesterday-Progressive.” Sorry, Trudeau/Pauley are my age, but don’t get it. My guess is neither has been without and are so out of touch with reality…well need I say more?

PUHLEEEZE!

Trudeau and Pauley should know better — both of them should know better. I’m so disappointed — And those of us who voted for Obama? If we saw the person, the character, the vision, the whole package? Then we should not be disappointed, but lifted up — I do not believe for one minute we have been sold out or up the river.

I am, at the very least, the least informed and most naive of this eloquent forum. On the other hand, sometimes we tend to beat and analyze news and opinions to death…absolutely to death..beyond death and into the next realm for that matter.

Speaking only for myself, I live one day at a time. Some days are better than others. In my 60+ years on this planet, I have learned that yesterday is what it is…yesterday; I can neither live in nor change the past. However, I can make every effort to change the future. One never knows how important “excuse me,” “pardon me,” “I’m sorry,” “eye contact,” or “a smile” means to another person.

One never knows, one never knows.

To see beyond color, gender, religion, and nationality is what it means to be human, and to do the right thing…simply because it is the right thing to do. Not because someone told me to, but because I have a conscience and it feels right.

OMG — I’m an ESFJ!!

Of course you are…we’re much more supportive and MUCH LESS expensive than a shrink. πŸ™‚

Scheherazade,

I’ll answer all your questions with one sentence: Why? Because STUPID is a pre-existing condition.

That said, you aren’t the only one with nutty relatives, in-laws or otherwise. I don’t think any of us has had a “Leave It To Beaver” family.

My father is 79 and has been a bigoted, name-calling, resentful man his entire life. The only difference now? I can add “old” to the litany. Back in the days of weekly suppers at Noon on Sundays, the n-word was tossed around the dining room table like a football. It made no difference to my father who was sitting at the table — even little kids. It was even worse when he had been drinking. So, when his behavior started to trickle down to my kids, I made a conscious decision to not fake it anymore, and I put an end to it. As a result, I haven’t seen my father in years. It was easier for him to blame me, to lash out at me, than it was for him to look in the mirror.

The arguments, bad behavior, foul mouth, and him generally being a jerk wasn’t worth the stress. I did what I needed to do at the time; only once in awhile do I regret my decision. On the other hand, I don’t regret not having a complete meltdown either.

Oh, and holidays are the worst; just another opportunity to add fuel to the fire. They enjoy stirring the pot, they really do.

Morning Edition and Crumpet the Elf

abs πŸ™‚

If I understand the operations here, Speaker’s Corner is open for anything as long as the rules of engagement are followed (all that stuff is under FAQ). I think you can write or address just about anything. Morning Blog (when Kalima is in) starts out everyday on the main and then moves to SC after 9 am EST. You’ll notice Morning Blog has almost 800 comments…we’re all very verbose.

How to wrap Wellies or how were your holidays are game; and you’re right most of us have something to vent. That said, AdLib, nellie, K7, and I believe Kalima are the go to brilliant creators of Planet, and I do defer to them if you have anymore questions. I’m still a newbie and haven’t been around long enough to answer questions with certainty or clarity.

AdLib? You there?

Hi escribacat,

For me at least, it’s the voice. He sounds like an elf. You know?

» Posted By boomer1949 On December 24, 2009 @ 10:16 pm

Not to worry, I only watch because of Mark Harmon πŸ™‚

Bios of everyone and “Abs” is there as well…

http://www.cbs.com/primetime/ncis/bio/

Did you find Speaker’s Corner?

» Posted By boomer1949 On December 24, 2009 @ 9:51 pm

abby,

I so want to call you abs, after the abby in NCIS because that’s what Gibbs (Mark Harmon) calls her. Okay, OT.

Speaker’s Corner is right above the video up top. Just scroll up and look right…video…look up and there it will be.

» Posted By boomer1949 On December 24, 2009 @ 9:13 pm

Oh, and Morning Blog, Monday through Friday. It’s the most open. Dear Kalima is responsible, however this week has been an exception.

Normally, Morning Blog is on the Main, until 9am EST, I think? Then it goes to Speaker’s Corner, but still open.

AdLib, please correct me if I’m wrong; don’t want to misinform.
