Nellie, I couldn’t reply to that thread…

We don’t disagree, I am just explaining in my way that like it or not we are a visually stimulated society…

For example-Detroit has 50% unemployment, What if instead of a “Beer Summit” the American people visualized a Jobs Creation Summit in Detroit coinciding with the passage of the Stimulis… The Re-tooling of an abandoned plant or two for windmill’s and solar panels to be offered to the American people at low cost and with tax breaks, While working on a health care bill the President can stomach behind the scenes before it becomes some big media hyped public fight visual…
It really is a matter of visual perception to many and we have to live with that…

» Posted By Tiger99 On January 19, 2010 @ 2:34 pm

Yes, and I answered “had been visualizing a year long unified fight against the GOP” the key is what kind of visual are we seeing when some cities like Detroit have 50% unemployment and our President is being public about taxing health care plans as the Priorty…
I read a statement a day or two ago by a Democratic Represenitive that eluded to as soon as we pass health care we will concentrate on jobs…

I haven’t forgotten it at all… I remember excactly how they caved to the GOP on the Stimulis Bill… Her statement was “Didn

The Country voted in the Democrats to put a stop/reverse to the economic policies that are destroying the working/middle class and creating an unbearable hardship on the poor and to get us out of Iraq as quickly as possible… For most Health Care was secondary to stabilizing the economy and creating Good Jobs that people can create a future with…
There would be no backlash as the one we are experiencing if the American Public had been visualizing a year long unified fight against the GOP for Job Creation, saving homes from foreclosure, taking on Wall Street and getting things in motion for rebuilding our infrastructure…
If all this had been Priority 1 then once people saw that the Democrats were fighting for them against the GOP, Priority 2 Health Care Reform would have been much more a palatable issue…

I doubt Dem’s lose the seat but “Special Elections” are notorious for low voter turnout… This may aide Coakly…

One thing for sure it’s going to be interesting to watch from the sidelines…

The real irony is Kennedy sabotaged Health Care in the 70’s and there is a chance that the same seat will sabotage it again(almost excact same plans)40 years later…

What Martin Luther King Jr. Day means to me

Mr. Lepew,
I want to personally thank you for sharing this incredible and poignant piece of yourself with us on MLK Day…
MLK Day is a good day for all of us to reflect on how far we have come and how far we still need to go…

Roger Ebert Gives Rush a Thumb Down….

A Letter to Rush Limbaugh

January 14, 2010
To: Rush Limbaugh
From: Roger Ebert

You should be horse-whipped for the insult you have paid to the highest office of our nation.

Having followed President Obama’s suggestion and donated money to the Red Cross for relief in Haiti, I was offended to hear you suggest the President might be a thief capable of stealing money intended for the earthquake victims.

Here is a transcript from your program on Thursday:

Justin of Raleigh, North Carolina: “Why does Obama say if you want to donate some money, you could go to whitehouse.gov to direct you how to do so? If I wanted to donate to the Red Cross, why do I have to go to the White House page to donate?”

Limbaugh: “Exactly. Would you trust the money’s gonna go to Haiti?”

Justin: “No.”

Rush: “But would you trust that your name’s gonna end up on a mailing list for the Obama people to start asking you for campaign donations for him and other causes?”

Justin: “Absolutely!”

Limbaugh: “Absolutely!”

That’s what was said.

Unlike you and Justin of Raleigh, I went to Obama’s web site, and discovered the link there leads directly to the Red Cross. I can think of a reason why anyone might want to go via the White House. That way they can be absolutely sure they’re clicking on the Red Cross and not a fake site set up to exploit the tragedy.

But let me be sure I have this right. You and Justin agree that Obama might steal money intended for the Red Cross to help the wretched of Haiti.

This conversation came 48 hours after many of us had seen pitiful sights from Port au Prince. Tens of thousands are believed still alive beneath the rubble. You twisted their suffering into an opportunity to demean the character of the President of the United States.

You have a sizable listening audience. You apparently know how to please them. Anybody given a $400 million contract must know what he is doing.

That’s what offends me. You know exactly what you’re doing.

Pat’s statements are usually based on religous beliefs and superstitions… I have no clue what Rush bases his on other than ignorance, hate and a need to be the devils advocate…

This Administrations quick response and all out relief efforts will be more than Rush can bear… Maybe he will finally go just a little bit to far…

When You Do That Voodoo That You Do So Well…

I was fascinated to learn about Dutty Boukman myself Khirad, it leaves me wondering what other little tid bits of history and folklore that I am unaware of…

» Posted By Tiger99 On January 16, 2010 @ 8:27 am

When you think about it “Evil Voodoo” is usually all that is portrayed in our culture… The only “good” Voodoo Priestess that I can recall in a movie is Minerva in
“Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”…

“To understand the living, you got to commune with the dead.”

It’s mentioned under ROOT CAUSES: A. INTERNATIONAL FORCES
3.THE FRENCH DEBT OF 1838. He mentions the interest on the debt was harsh on the economy during that period of time… “Haiti paid many times over 150 million francs in interest on this debt. It is difficult to measure the incredible harm which this did to the Haitian economy, but by the most conservative measures it was extremely significant.”

But, The page you linked to links to a great site that I found to be quite informative and more up to date on the Haitian peoples plight… Thanks…
