Her cats were so spoiled and they were mean. You never knew when you walked by if that cat was going to reach out and slap you with claws extended. But she loved her cats. One time when we moved she put the cat in a room, closed the door and told us to leave him alone so he could get used to the new house. Someone, I am not saying who, opened that door a crack and that cat went flying around the house like some crazed animal. She was so mad and gave the cat an extra treat of his gross food that night. LOL. We also had a cat once(my daughter sneaked it into the house) and when i brought our beagle home, I put it on the kitchen floor. The beagle had been born on a farm so all the animals got along so when she saw our cat, she walked up to it to make friends. That cat slapped my little beagle across the kitchen floor. An 8 week old beagle fits in the palm of two hands. Another reason I do not like cats, they are like republicans they bite the hand that feeds them. One thing that shocked me was the undercurrent between the races. I suppose if you lived there all your life you might not notice it, but having grown up in CA I noticed it almost immediately. While I might not call it tension, there is something there. I was in the mall in Charleston with my cousin and we were walking toward a group of young black kids, they made a wide path for us to get by, it was eerie like they were almost afraid. Being told there was an unofficial demarcation line in a Burger King for eating. I don’t know maybe it was the area I was in but I definitely felt the undercurrent. It did not seem to bother anyone else but me though. Wow Adlib I never thought of ending the show. But I would argue that unlike fickle television, we have to continue to try to get it right. Democracy is still popular it is just that some have forgotten the meaning. The First Amendment is still popular, some have just either have forgotten the meaning or never truly understood it. The 2nd Amendment (and I must admit even I did not know this) was in part, to protect slavery(I assume for hunting down runaways). But has been twisted all around over the years. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Yet we have been told since birth that power is the ultimate goal. On the other hand we have a lot of history that we have never apologized for or made right. The indigenous peoples we drove into reservations because they wanted to keep their own customs and language. The robber barons who were allowed to run their sweatshops risking the lives of the workers with no regard for their safety. Sending troops to Vietnam because we did not like the dictator that was running the country and to secure the rubber needed for US products, losing over 58 thousand young men in the process. Invading Iraq so that some neo-cons could test the ability of the US to fight a two front war. Taking out dictators all over the world because we do not like them. There are many other examples and I could not remember them all if I tried but perhaps these same deeds are responsible for the loss of integrity and togetherness of our people. Perhaps through these actions we went to far and do not have the gumption to come back? Both are for harm in the hands of people who have no conscience. Heck evn me, with my self protection reasons, has people who either could happen upon that gun, or want it specifically. To me it is just better to leave the gun in the hands of the supplier. When Americans stop buying guns, the gun producers will have to look elsewhere.
