I was going to start excusing the woman on account of her being part of the older generation (a bit like the way Sen. Reid got a pass on his Obama remarks). But – good grief – the woman is only 3 years older than me – she has absolutely no excuse and IS a racist – on the other hand, as reported, she was complaining about the influx of people from eastern Europe who are as white as she is – so perhaps it’s not racism but xenophobia? I envy you your sighting of wolves Pepe – one of the best moments of my life was about 30 years ago while on a camping trip with my parents and brother in Algonquin. Online shopping however is a boon – but I am notoriously tightfisted so I don’t do that very often. My weakness, like Kalima and Khirad, is books – lots and lots of books. My hubby and friends and family now know what to get me for Christmas and I had so many last time that I’m still wading through them with no end in sight! I used to have a bookcase 7 feet tall by 11 feet wide that was crammed with books – then we thought we were moving a couple of years ago so I packed up and donated to the local library 15 boxes of books and I still have another 8 boxes in the basement. Conservatives are crazy loons!! If you consider that our health care comes from general revenue then we are very competitive and conservatives up here are every bit the idealogues they like to paint liberals and socialists. I have great respect for First Nations peoples – they have lost much of their culture and language and identity because of what was done to them but they have managed to hang on by their fingernails and that day in Ottawa was the first of what I hope turns out to be great triumphs for them.
