After not being able to marry in my Church because my husband was not a Catholic, I meandered for years until my mother’s funeral when I attended her Funeral Mass and burial. That was the last time I went to Church and I miss it. I miss the peace I felt sitting in a full or an empty Church. There is nothing quite like it and nothing to replace it with. Maybe one of these days I will return just to feel at one with the world again. If I were someone who might be considering voting for HC, I would certainly like to hear her opinion on current issues, and outstanding issues that have not been solved yet because of GOP opposition. I don’t think it’s just the media who want an answer, and her high and mighty attitude because she is the wife of a former president or the former SoS is quite frankly off putting. To gain respect you have to earn it, and quite honestly, what memorable thing for the sake of the country has she done? What is she offering that differs from any other candidate that might join the race? She needs to take a stand on issues now and not just try to distance herself from the President and the Democratic Party. One and a half years will pass quicker than we think, and if she can’t prove that the country will be better off in her hands or that she can make demanding decisions when called for, she might not see the WH again. Well I’ll say one thing for her, at least she has been consistent about sitting on the fence on important issues before the wind blows her off to the winning side. You expect it from the Repubs because they don’t know their arse from their elbow, and if they do give an opinion, you will need someone fluent in BSlish to translate it. I remember how long it took her to take sides on marriage equality after the President gave his support. Not very encouraging to have someone who is only outspoken on something that affects millions of daily lives when the only reason to support it is the future damage it could cause your political career if you voted against it. Fickle and untrustworthy just doesn’t cover it. The image she portrays is of someone who really doesn’t hold an opinion on major issues, but that she can be bought at a price to render any opinion that will benefit her and her “friends”. Her “we were broke” after leaving the WH didn’t exactly win her any voter confidence when trying to appeal to the middle class and the people who are living from hand to mouth on a daily basis. Surfing along on the Clinton name is just not going to cut it. My father kept in touch with an American soldier he met in Normandy during D-Day. They shared cigarettes and conversations about home and the families left waiting for their safe return. I believe they wrote to each other until the end of the 70’s when the letters and Christmas cards from the U.S. suddenly stopped. My father assumed the man might have been sick and had passed away, and told me that meeting him there under those terrible circumstances was a fond memory he would never forget, and he never did. Turns out that because I’ve been living abroad for more than 15 years, and haven’t registered to vote in that time, I can’t vote. So much for British citizenship.
