Why a Biden Nomination is Likely to Elect a Republican President in 2024

I haven’t decided who to give my full support to yet, but I have decided that it will not be Biden. He needs to move off into the sunset. They only way I will vote for him is if he is the Democratic nominee. I still believe the chances of the Democrats nominating a fresh face for to run in the general election for President is most likely.

Weekend Music Thread – Dream On

The first song to come to mind was the classic, as penned by Lennon, “Imagine”. But I’m going to go with the second song that came to mind first. “Wishing On a Star” by Rose Royce

Imagine. When I hear this song I think of the Garden of Eden. A time before sin, or any God, mythical or not, was known or said to exist

Mr. Trump This is What the 4th is REALLY About

As of today, the meaning of freedom; to self rule; self actualize, liberty, and pursuit happiness, remains as it was. A glorious reflection of what those ideas meant for the founding fathers, other selected men of the time, and their inheritors, but not, of course, the lessors.

Frederick Douglas let it be know in his day that it was’t an all inclusive document, and as such, those not included in its charm and embrace saw it as nothing more than an enshrinement of the self-proclaimed worthiness of it’s male authors and their inheritors; and a flippant declaration that all others were unfit and of unworthy inclusion.

Those not included couldn’t be expected to praise the rights granted by certain men unto themselves but not others. Yet they were expected to.

The image was secondary.

The Declaration of Independence was very well written, and as you pointed out, it were purposely edited to remove Jefferson’s mention of the slave trade. Such cannot be mentioned in the same breath and on the same paper as the “elite” class. No, no way.

MLK used to love to quote the famed founding document. He did so as a reminder to those who adore it of just how unjust and unequal America really is.

One day, as King said in other words (not verbatim), we as a nation will practice what we preach.

As of now, this year far removed from then, it is something we have yet to do. Had we lived up to the words so well written certain results would be apparent and evident, the ERA would have long ago been passed and the oppressed would have been made whole. But sadly, those things may never be, and we as a nation may never live up to our potential.

What Does It Mean That Trump Is An Illegitimate President?

And I believe that Trump, in the empty chamber that is his heart, knows that he pulled another fast one.

Their Only Crime Was Wanting To Live

Donald J. Trump’s idea of a better America only includes hand selected immigrants, like his current wife and in-laws. All other would be entrants, especially those from Mexico, Central and South America, and those stink hole island nations, and Africa, and all Muslims, aren’t welcome. If he could he would ban former President Obama to the lands of his father in Kenya, be gone!

Weekend Music Thread – Color Me True

The Beatles. Yellow Submarine. (marine is also a color description –aqua marine)

Fats Domino. (blue is probably the most mentioned color in the history of recorded songs because it is a genre of music as well as an emotional expression.) This song is no exception to that rule. Blue Monday.

Making The Truth Invisible.

The video of Giuliani’s rhetorical soup of half truth’s and unbelievable deniability makes for good supportive evidence of how the truth has become void of appearance. He even had the nerve to say that Trump should not be questioned because it would be a “perjury trap”. He is basically saying it is not in the best interest of Trump to tell the truth so therefore it is the fault of the witch hunters.

What a scheme.

Trump, in the truest of definitions is incredible. His doesn’t give a damn attitude isn’t by chance. He was groomed to be that way. And by chance the government was set to be run by business men starting with Reagan, back when conservative minded people use to commonly say that government needs to be run more like business and the first business they would always press for first are tax cuts for business and deregulation of business. Trump fits that mold perfect. HE doesn’t pay taxes and he behaves as though he is above the law.

» Posted By Dajuan Candle On June 20, 2019 @ 10:14 am

Exactly so. But during the course of it’s growth this country, “the great experiment”, had made efforts, some will say –others will say not enough– to be more honest about it’s history as a means of bringing it’s people together in hopes of creating a harmonious existence. It hasn’t happened, and the retrospective approach of “making America great again” embraces those old ways and all the fallacies that go along with it. As evident, as I suggest, by the truth again becoming invisible as a result of being “unwanted” by the clamoring tribes of indifference towards others.

Open Letter to the New University of Colorado President

An interesting read. It made me recall a young lady I met in the early 90’s, she was black, from Louisiana, had a singing voice that rivaled Whitney Houston’s (no joke), and had attended college in Colorado on a voice scholarship, I think it might have been CU. I sometimes wonder what happen to her, to T.J., the young lady who could sing so good she could make the listener cry.

Surly. Your alma mater needs to do better. But they are not alone. Many Americans schools are caught up with the perceptions of quality that come with appearance. Many people still wrongly associate quality with white, when it is nothing more than privilege than it is anything else, and low quality with black even though it has mostly to do with financial hardships that the privileged burdened us with.

The Greatest Of Don’s Cons Could Be the Most Deadly To The US And The Wider World.

I just want there to be at least one someone who is capable. Someone who has trouble sleeping at night. Someone whose conscience is eating at him, or her, saying “we need to get through to the big guy with the small mind and make him change course or not only will we damn our own country, but the entire damn planet”.

Sadly, you are right. The people who can see things for what they are have pretty much all quit. “I can’t handle this, I’m leaving.” Former House speakers Boehner and Ryan, both Republicans, wanted no part of the mess, even while their side of the isle were in power.

Weekend Music Thread – Hot Fun in the Summertime

I missed the weekend launch of this here summer music thread, but even on a monday, three days late, I just gotta add this one for the hip-hop heads who might be up in here. I present, the biggest R&B hit of DJ Jazzy Jeff and (Will Smith) The Fresh Prince’s music careers. Summertime (in the hood).

Weekend Music Thread – Anarchy in the UK

London Bridge is Falling Down came immediately to mind? But I can do better than that. Surely I can. The song I spotlight this weekend is a classic recording of Sir Elton John. I was in either 7th or 8th grade when he performed this song, Bennie and the Jets, on the African-American music and dance show Soul Train. He was one of two British musicians I remember, from early years, performing on Soul Train. The other was David Bowie. In Bowie’s memory I include his performance of the song “Fame”.

Biden Doesn’t Get Mulligans

Double standards. Plus, Hillary was married to you know who. I haven’t made up my mind as to who I will be voting for, but I can say it will not be for Uncle Joe. His time has come and gone, that is my primary reason (pun intended). His candidacy could be the one thing the Democratic party didn’t need. I think the young Democratic party voters are going to shock the system, upset the apple cart, and vote many of out the baby boomers and throw their support behind a younger Presidential candidate.

We are living in a time when most news agencies and information gathering services are more concerned about ratings, circulation, profit, and stock values than they are reporting the news of the day. There are exceptions like PBS, but today’s viewers, who themselves are programmed (geared) to prefer scintillating and hyped up minor news, “who dropped kicked who” (something else I recently wrote) over more meaningful news, don’t care for that.

And like I mentioned in the article, humor offers us a reprieve from the stupidity of the day, and the frustrations of daily living. Sometimes we can get more real news by watching the Daily Show and sharing a laugh than we can the nightly news which is full of “teases”. Up next on big network nightly news, “ever seen a pig fly?”.

Then there is Trump. The vanguard of ignorance, the deceiver or reality TV, the purveyor of stupidity screaming, every chance he gets, 24/7, “fake news”.

Weekend Music Thread – I’d Love to Change the World

Having love. Having someone to share life with, surely, makes the World a better and more wonderful place. Having loved. Having had someone to mark the passing of time, makes ones memories of a better world that more sweeter. Sam Cooke sang it best. “Wonderful World”

The Cynical Charade of “Pro-Life” Politicians

Yes, it most definitely has been orchestrated. Controlling the courts is a means of assuring their ongoing efforts to affirm the wisdom of the Southern strategy put in place by Republicans some 50 years ago to stymie liberals, women and blacks. And they have been “preaching” fear ever since, and the sheep have been so stirred they defecate on themselves and blame others.

» Posted By Dajuan Candle On May 30, 2019 @ 2:31 pm

The main reason for the rush of new state laws led by Republican dominated state legislatures across the land is the current make-up of the high court. They see now–with the imbalance of the court in their favor–as an opportune time to overturn Roe V. Wade. Trump having put two, more, conservative white males on the court, the misguided party of fools have visions or restoring America’s image to one of their own reflection and making again.

Conservatives use abortion as a cause and political weapon because of its religious overtones. Many of the faithful believe that terminating a pregnancy is equal to malice murder. Is ungodly. Tying their political causes to the faith of many Americans is another of the schemes extreme measure conservatives use to push their covert desires (America needs to be redeemed and good men like us returned to power) and win over faith based voters in the process. It is soul stealing for a political purpose.

The men who vote for such fool hardy laws are at war with the souls of men (good and evil, them against us and God), the ideal of a certain order is their wish. To that end they are using pregnancy as a storm-front.

Mueller, Played by the Rules

Excellent points, observations, and sound rationale.

All the while I was reading your words an image of John McCain, old school Republican, kept flashing in my head. He too played by a different set of rules: Of honor; respect; dedication to service; and to his fellow man–in the tradition of Abe Lincoln the great emancipator. Trump came along and threw daggers through the dying man’s heart. Told him he was not a hero, and in many ways suggested he was an enemy of the State for hot supporting him. These words coming from the mouth of a man who never served under the duress of war–and it’s live bullets.

Seems the sting of his words would have been so upsetting that other ranking members of the Republican Party, or other traditional supporters of the party , would step forward (like George Will has done) and denounce the actions of Trump and his nationalist fan club, but so far it has been a no go.

To see McCain’s daughter agonize over Trump’s continued panning of now deceased father is enough to make one wonder how long will even she continue to try to steer the sinking ship that is her party to safe shores. Sadly, she probably will not do what’s best for the country and admit the ideals her father and Mueller were willing to serve their nation and die for are now, for sure, better served by those operating to the left of center.

I know it has to hurt Mueller, himself a registered Republican, to accept that the party of Lincoln is essentially no more, (IMO) only the name remains. It is a brand that has been co-opted by the Tea Party Populist (another name to which they don’t
live up to), Libertarians (also a linguistic farce) and Nationalist (supremacist). Yet, with all of this obvious truth staring him down he still, for the sake of longed for fair play and–I suspect–party continuity, chose not make an exception to the code because doing so may jeopardize the system, the process–outdated–he is sworn to honor. Even though it now seems the same process seems incapable of determining whether of not the President, as a then candidate or president elect, acted as an enemy of the State or not.

We are living during a time of great change and great reveals. It is taking longer for these truths, these realities, to sink in than this writer would have thought. Sadly, though he may be a great tactician, crossing T’s and dotting I’s, Mueller is not a Visionary. For that reason I am disappointed in him.
