The Republicans' simultaneous War On Women and campaigning for their vote is a bit like going on a date, being insulted and demeaned throughout it then being asked, "So, you want to get married?"

The image of God that Gohmert portrays is that He's either Tinkerbell, who needs our constant applause to have the power to save us from all natural and man-made disasters or he is a petty, selfish teenager who lets people die as a way of getting even for not getting enough attention.

It is confusing to many as to how this party has so alienated itself and chosen to disregard the truths that many of us hold and have for probably our entire lifetimes. I don’t want to say their movement to the far right is because of President Obama but I do believe his election to the highest office in our land has contributed to their movement.

Over the past three decades since the early 1970’s, there has been the deliberate manipulation of significant segments of the population, most of them undoubtedly sincere believing people, around the ideology of ‘born-again’ evangelical Christian Fundamentalism to create what we now refer to as the Christian Right or Dominionists. Within the broad spectrum of fundamentalist denominations there are some currents which are particularly alarming. Sarah Palin comes out of such a milieu.
