What Martin Luther King Jr. Day means to me

I would like to share this story about racism and get your thoughts. I lived in Detroit on the SW side. When my daughter was 2 we boarded a public bus, which the school system paid to bus the schoolchildren, and it was full of them, mostly 1 per bench that seated 2, but no empty seats. After walking slowly through the bus waiting for someone to move over to give us room and having young person after young person put their feet on the bench, simply because we were light skinned, I started to see red. I finally firmly asked a young lady to remove her legs and let us sit down but the hostility was palpable. This was a younger generation, and as far removed from Dr. King as could be. They did nobody proud and I wondered what their parents would have said if they had been there.

I read about the ping pong a bit ago. Would the house agree to the senate’s version with no changes? Why should they? Any way I look at this it doesn’t look good. We need a stronger bill.

Ad Lib, I thought the antitrust was a done deal and separate from the bill. Forcing seniors to pay more goes right through the heart of this supposed reform. I am with you and Dr. Dean, there is too much wrong with it. What is the hurry Mr. President, and why don’t you throw your weight around a little on the Medicare buy-in? He said he wanted it done right so nobody had to do it again, but this is not the way.

The only bad part of voting down the bill is the republicans will claim victory and have teaparties.

I can see a rationale in that to remove the anti-American leaders would serve to dismantle the anti-American movement. What would the Cuban Revolution have been without Castro and Che? Get bin Laden and his ideologs. It would be cathartic as well.

Commander-in-Chief vs Sarah Palin

I disagree. She is pedaling her book which is not political at all; just petty gossip that cannot be substantiated which happens to take place in a political environment. Actually the more people who read it the better, but I hope they pass around their copies instead of putting dollars in her pocket. I think the supposed millions she was supposed to earn for speaking engagements has been vastly overrated. Maybe she saw what Bill Clinton was getting and thought she could compete.

One thing the GOP has never messed up is their hated for the female; they really have it down pat. The way they make their spouses stand next to them as they publicly admit gay infidelity. Yes, they can do something right!
