That person had a very unrealistic notion of what was, and was not, possible.
That person projected a lot onto Obama.
But, at the end of the day, it is minor aggro.
That family member is the one who has to live with her/his sour attitude.
Best to discount the rant and ask about the weather.
I do not think that they are traitors. I think that the best term is: blind kittens.
I am glad that I do not watch TV, listen to talk radio. There are very few newspapers that I read; and, fewer
worth reading. I read non fiction books – history and biography. And, I actually read the footnotes.
I came to the conclusion, years ago, that the ‘news media’ does not want to get and tell the story. They want to be the story.
There has always been an element of that – the media want to be the story – but, today, it seems more so.
It is not political bias so much, as no news outlet is impartial. It is that there is little actual reporting going on. Actual reporting is difficult.
If a person is legally entitled to register to vote and to vote, you do what is necessary to legally cast your ballot.
As in: “you will not prevent me from voting”.
Congressional candidates are mostly recruited locally. And, mostly a promotion from state legislative office or local office. Campaigns are organized locally; GOTV is local; voter registration is local.
Trying to understand it is a mostly futile effort.
Funny that no one ever points out that the GOP is, in fact, mean, vindictive and silly.
I think that what Dionne wants cannot occur.
I have encountered on line and in real life all of those types.
And, we have people who are apathetic and do not, usually, vote.
I think that GOTV is the number one priority.
And, they are easily fooled and easily used by others a great deal smarter than they are.
They will continue to cause as much trouble as they can.
I doubt if they have learned very much; they learning curve is fairly flat.
It is sad that such people are in Congress.
And, I do think that “get out the vote” is critical.
Ginger Gibson tweeted that some House members smelled of drink.
I do not doubt that GOP members took some “Dutch courage”.

What will be the political consequences? The election is Nov 2014; and, most of the GOP hotheads are in safe seats. People vote their party no matter what. The main consequence will be the entertainment value.
