Afghanistan is more about subduing the Taliban than it is about chasing Al Qaeda. The President does not want the Taliban turning Afghanistan…or any large Middle East country, for that matter…into an Islamic State, which is the Taliban’s intention. Indeed, the Main at HP right now has Adam Rose, the author of the article, saying this: “”An additional 30,000 troops are scheduled to be deployed to Afghanistan, where some estimates peg the total number of Al Qaeda as low as 100.” This is so disingenuous he ought to be punished for writing it. He is throwng the 30000 number (of troops) up against the far lower number, 100, of Al Qaeda, to try and paint a picture of overkill on the part of the President. In other words, 30000 to go after 100. And again, totally ignoring the Taliban as if it is no problem at all. I think others really feel a deep sense of loyalty even to places like hp, some have been there since its inception. Doing reading on a new site is a good way to see whether you will like it or not, or just a way to see how things are done. It might seem implausible that the great posters would ever be shy or even slightly hesitant about something like this, but you never know.
