2012 South Carolina GOP Primary Thread

Good point , a hell of a lot of older folks retired and too feeble to go to the polls will vote absentee. Also many who work and can’t get to the polls, too.

» Posted By Nirek On January 21, 2012 @ 4:42 pm

Kalima, we need to educate our friends and family about these GOPers, too.

» Posted By Nirek On January 21, 2012 @ 4:38 pm

Wish I ha said that.
This crop of GOP candidates is as awful as any ever was. I can’t believe that the evangelicals would vote for the likes of Newt. There is no way that any of them can beat the President. Obama is so much better at speaking and debating.

LIVE BLOG – GOP Debate at 5:00 PM PST in SC – 1/19

King should have followed up with more tough questions like “how are you not a hypocrite when you presided over the impeachment of President Clinton while you were cheating on your second wife with your present wife?”
Then he should have asked the others if that was okay to do for a politician?
Lots of questions and zero answers.

“Yeah, That’s the GOP Ticket!” – Can Romney Lie His Way Into the White House?

Not too hard to be better at foreign policy than “w”!

KT, I couldn’t agree more!
Your opinion matches mine .

» Posted By Nirek On January 19, 2012 @ 12:17 pm

Adlib, now you’re hitting me as a Social Security recipient.
That is indeed another good question for any of these GOPTP candidates.
Why can’t the moderators of these debates ask tough questions like yours? I believe they are in the pockets of the people they are moderating. That is the only reason I can think of for the softball questions they ask.

» Posted By Nirek On January 19, 2012 @ 6:24 am

Adlib, that is a question I would ask of any of the current crop of candidates for the GOPTP! Thanks for all your thinking and posts.

» Posted By Nirek On January 19, 2012 @ 6:19 am

Nearly all politicians have “war chests” and when they finally leave politics they can use that money for whatever they want. Usually they keep it. Most leave millionaires.

» Posted By Nirek On January 19, 2012 @ 6:14 am

Adlib, I have to agree. Obama has done well in the foreign policy department. As a Vietnam veteran (drafted in 1967 at age 21)I am not one who wants to listen to the generals. Long story short , I was ordered by a general to walk in front of a tank to find mines, with no equipment to do so. We were riding on the tank when it hit a mine and one tread was damaged. The general ordered me to walk in front after the repairs were made. The general didn’t want to lose a tank , but a man was disposable (me).

Revelations of a 24-Hour MSM Cycle

There are lots of things in the “news” that piss me off. I’ll mention only one in this post. This “news lady” author of a book about the FLTUS. I have not read nor will I her book or excerpts, why, because I refuse to enrich her. I heard the First Lady say that this person “news lady” wrote untrue things. I think Mrs. Obama is being kind. The “news lady” is lying and has no first hand information to back up her assertions.

2012 New Hampshire Primary Thread

The entire group of GOP candidates is out of ammunition.

» Posted By Nirek On January 11, 2012 @ 3:50 am

And not one of them with enough intelligence to beat Obama.
Sure President Obama has done some things I disagree with but he is far better than the present crop of GOP candidates.

I have trouble listening to the talking heads when they start talking over each other. Not only that , but they do not know any more than we do. Maybe less than most of us.

Coalition of Church and State: Ron Paul

Another fine post. Thanks for the research. We all owe you a debt of gratitude for the information. I found the same stuff but did not read it all and this time I did. I don’t think I would like to have Paul as president. The only thing I agree with him about is not going to war without just cause and Congress declaring war.
He and all the other R candidates are poor excuses of candidates.

Regards Nirek.

Coalition of Church and State: Willard Mitt Romney

Sue, that was a good piece on Mitt. He does things that will help himself to advance in this world, but nothing to help others. My son lived in Mass. when he was Gov. and said he was the worst he had ever seen. I for one do not trust people who are big business and will layoff workers to make their company more profitable. I prefer companies that have a social conscience like Ben and Jerry’s . When a company gets too big I believe it should be broken into smaller pieces like AT&T was back in the 80s. Most of the baby bells are now bigger than AT&T was back then.
I worked for New England Tel&Tel which was a part of AT&T. When the breakup came we were part of NYNEX then Bell Atlantic then Verizon.
Verizon is now bigger than AT&T was and should be broken up. These companies that are too big to fail should all be broken into smaller companies.

Mitt is one of those folks that will let people (workers) go to take money for himself. Greed is the problem today.

I don’t think there is a Republican candidate who is worthy of being President. But that is just my opinion and I don’t apologize for my opinions.

Good piece on Mitt thanks for writing it.

Coalition of Church and State: Rick Santorum

Sue, this guy is scary. He is a chicken hawk. He wants to bomb Iran. He is also against minorities (especially gays and blacks). If he were elected I’d sell my home and move to Canada.

The Daily Planet, Vol. 183

What do you bet that BOA execs get huge bonuses for their “work” next month?
To me they should be in orange jumpsuits doing hard labor, not getting bonuses. What they are paying the fines for is criminal and you or I would be prosecuted and jailed for doing what they did.

GOP Tax (Pledge) Breaks

This morning my wife and I were making Christmas wishes and she wished for peace on earth and a congress that wasn’t corrupt.
I told her that we might get peace on earth if we had an incorrupt congress.

Merry Christmas all.

That is telling. It more like the 99%ers are saying. Maybe we aren’t 99%ers but 94%ers. That is still a lot of people who could vote the GOP out. I hope the same 94% of voters remember this in November.

Coalition of Church and State Revisited: Convincing The Public

Sue, I agree with you. The religious should keep their religion out of the politics of America. I don’t push my religion on others and I don’t want them pushing theirs on me or our government.

You say it much better than I do.

Will Gingrich be Stopped? Sure. By himself.

Newt is an intellectual snob. Not an intellectual. Just a snob who thinks he is smarter than all the rest of us.

I laughed when I heard only two of the GOP candidates will be there for Trumps debate.

» Posted By Nirek On December 9, 2011 @ 6:13 am

Sally , I would not take his values for free. He has poor family values in my opinion.

» Posted By Nirek On December 9, 2011 @ 6:11 am

I like to learn from history. Newt is one big hypocrite. Remember when he was pushing to impeach Clinton for his indiscretions while he was having an affair with one of his staffers. (now his third wife)
To me that is as hypocritical as you can get. I prefer NOT to have a hypocrite as my President.

7AM Monday Jan.14, 2013
I just saw Senator John McCain say that the assault weapon ban should not be passed. My first thought was “he is bought and paid for by the NRA and gun manufacturers” Second thought “we need to have some people in our government who are above taking bribes.”
