End This Now, Please Stop Killing Babies!

Cogent, clear, and easy to read. Thanks for putting the essential into a nice, neat, package. I have copied it to pass around.

Here is something to read that I highly recommend.

https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/research-reports/how-nra-rewrote-second-amendment

A fabulous point by point dismemberment of the gun lobbies keystone argument: the right of individuals as individuals to bear arms (any “small” arms”) is a constitutional right, a 2nd amendment guarantee.

Nope….not even close.

You Only See My Skin Color!

I spent a slice of my life in the deep south and witnessed your experience a number of times. Of course as a kid I did not understand what was going on, but it was clear to me, even then, that something was very much amiss. To put some flesh on these bones…..I was and am terrible at math. I was in a stat class which I needed to get a “B (85%)” in to satisfy credentialing requirements. I was barely pulling a C. There was a black student who sat near me and he seemed to have the arcane subject matter down pat. For him, it appeared easy. He clearly had it down. SO…..I, and eventually two others, asked him for help. We met for an hour after each class to review what had been taught that day and prior to our next class met for a half hour to look over the work we had done for the class and for an extra hour in prep for tests. He helped us with our prep for the two major exams. I got a very solid 89% in the course having blown it for the first quarter. The other two did as well or better. It was not until the end of the course that we learned that he was consistently being given high 80’s and the occasional low 90’s grade but he seemed to know it all. Since this course had a segment that required an understanding of the underlying rationale for the theories and the application of the theory there was some subjective judgment about the quality of work by the instructor. What held his grade down were the awarded points for those segments. Even though the instructor could not keep him from getting an “A” it was clear that he was never going to end up at the top of the class. And, I have seen this time and again.

You put outstanding words to my experience.Thank you.

In Memory of Fergie

I am so sorry to read about Fergie’s death……I send my heartfelt condolences to PPO. I join with AdLib in recalling what a gift she was to us. Insightful, poetic, lively, intrigued, funny and sharp of wit. When she fell ill, PPO kept us up to date on her valiant struggle.

What a faithful presence PPO was. What an enduring example of what love produces in the heart- a nobility that is virtually without equal. Fergie and PPO are noble persons and that nobility touched all of us who share the dialogue of the Friday Night Vox Populi.

A word of thanks to Ad Lib for his gift to us who “knew” Fergie: her words, her music…all of it. What a powerful way for us to remember her.

May peace come to you, PPO, and to all who mourn our dear Fergie’s loss. MurphTheSurf…….privileged to have known her.

The Devil You Should Know Better

Interesting walk though the various expressions of satanic fascination.

Do you know about the Processans?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Process_Church_of_the_Final_Judgment

When I was in University as an undergrad (late 60’s) the black caped members of the group (cult) were a regular presence.

and then we have the many and varied ways that Q ties into the satanic world….

How to Solve the Manchin and Sinema Blockade of the Biden Agenda

As always – very well considered and clearly presented. You make good points about Mancin particularly- nailing it…but Sinema may have an additional challenge. Her state’s legislature is in the process of stacking the deck against her and any democrat….now the House to Senate Voting Rights Act might do the trick but it could also end in a SCOTUS review that knocks the whole thing back.

There is one other scenario being bounced about….what if either or both offer to switch parties….restoring McConnell as Majority Leader……imagine the rewards that would come their way……and in states where GOP power is still very significant….this could be the best strategic move for them……what think ye?

Panels at CPAC That May Surprise You

Really incredible….

This is certainly one of the funniest efforts to tumble forth from your fertile imagination.

Brilliant. The satire here is so rich, so full, and so anchored in the facts that all one can do is give you a standing “O”.

A Farewell to Trump: Oh the Bad Places You’ll Go

Your exercise in Seussian Poetry is funny but it reflects what is likely to be a miserable post-term life that will make Nixon’s look paradisal.

Tomorrow as he wings his way to MiraLago Land…
Former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama will be attending the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden Along with President Trump, former President Jimmy Carter, who at 96 is the oldest living president, will not be attending the inauguration. Carter is excused. Trump has no excuse. He begins his tenure in The Presidents’ Club as he will likely continue….as a persona non-grata.

Oh the places he will not go.

The Far Bloodier Coup That Was Intended

I find the case you lay out to be logical, plausible and likely. Brilliant. It is because of thinking along this line, mine and others like yourself, that I want the inauguration moved to the White House where the Secret Service and the military can secure the area. Keep it small. Eliminate comparisons with “the real inaugurations” with side by side images of the capital. Have a distinctive Biden/Harris flavor ad flair to it.

PlanetPOV 2020: The Year in Graphics

I have been on the phone working to engage influencers in pumping up the Democratic turnout in GA. It’s still a long shot but I feel compelled to do what I know how to do pretty well. Best to you in t his new year. May it be free of the demons that possessed 2020.

Hi….I have had a good reception at two of the three Facebook Pages. My mailing list group has also responded very positively. You have quite an array of gifts at work in masterpieces like this one. Am I right in presuming that there is no Vox tonight?

Trump Legal Team Accidentally Sue Themselves for Fraud

You know what is sad? When satire and a news story can be confused with one looking like the other, interchangeable and to be taken either as a shocking accounting of real life events, or an edgy bit of hard biting humor.

Note to Joe Biden: You Need to Use Judo in the Next Debate

Well analyzed, well considered, well constructed, well said. You get to the hear of the matter: the man is unfit (temperamentally, intellectually, experientially). Using the debate as the laboratory in which that is demonstrated rather than at-a-distance policy matters which Trump does not care about or understand is a smart move. Reagan and Obama proved to be very good at being-in-the-moment. Biden will need to practice this.

The only fly in the ointment that I can identify is that for Biden to get out the marvelous comebacks you provide as samples he would need the kind of pause in the diarrhetic trump flow that would permit him to deliver those lines such that they would be clearly heard. This is where the Debate Commission comes in. The only measure that I can see as effective in defeating the chaos making candidate is controlled microphones. On and Off controlled by the moderator. Or something similar that creates lacunas, empty spaces, or floor mats (to fit your Judo image) in which the blow can be delivered.

If that does not happen then Biden must make a moment and, in spite of the background noise and verbal harassment, deliver the blows even if it is in bits and pieces.

How Dems Should Respond to Mitch McConnell’s SCOTUS Hypocrisy

I took a look as well…..truth telling with a unique style.

» Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On September 25, 2020 @ 5:43 pm

Ad is being SO GRACIOUS in serving as the editor and publisher of my posts. Hats off to him! Talk about team work….something the GOP might consider with their so called “distinguished colleagues” and “friends across the aisle”.

» Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On September 25, 2020 @ 5:42 pm

This is very clever. The GOP has certainly made the Dems jump through hoops….which to fair, the Dems to them as well…..but I think your tongue in check play of the game captures a reality…..the hoops that the GOP holds out are rings of fire with knife throwers poised on both sides of the exit point and a pool of piranhas below. They really come across as that nasty, that single minded and that brazenly partisan, even anti-bipartisan. Cooperation is bad. Winning is all there is.

» Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On September 25, 2020 @ 5:40 pm

AND…I want to say that I think Dems would do just as you suggest……which is why policies need to be institutionalized.

» Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On September 25, 2020 @ 5:31 pm

Nice balance.

I have found enough in religious faiths of all kinds to convince me that while some faiths seem predisposed to making things worse even the best of the bunch can be sullied by the bad faith of their adherents.

BTW…you comment sent to Graham….I suspect that you are on the mark about McCain.

Wise……very wise. You might want to read my response above re. how tainted the process of filling those seats was bound to become……

» Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On September 25, 2020 @ 5:20 pm

You know, I agree with you in principle, in the ideal, in the way that I think the Founding and Framing generation in our U.S. history imagined the nation they were setting on its feet would be. And in the first term of G. Washington, two parties emerged and by the second the Congress was split and factions rule. The courts were quickly turned into prizes for the loyal (with some exceptions) and while the Supreme Court was, on occasion, the exception, by and large it was an instrument of party policy and social engineering. So…..

The Dems will have to brand themselves as The Reform Party, The Constitution Party and they will need to find allies in this across the aisle……the virulent right must be isolated and nullified.
