Thanks for the heads up to come on back to the ‘bright’ place…I never seem to be here when anyone else is though…my timing sucks!
I’ve got to get back to work right now…I really appreciate this tribute and I’m playin this one for ya Hume…goodnight my friend.
He did have good taste in music and am sure he would have appreciated everyone’s remembrance of him…it’s certainly made me want to reach out more to the people that quietly influence my life.
Hume has been in my thoughts a lot this week.
There was nothing trite about your doing this…I think it was very fitting and I was moved by your thoughtfulness.
I’ve been posting over there as funkyou and missed Hume almost immediately. He truly kept the place on it’s toes and is sorely missed by many.
What I miss is the added info, to anything I read, that Hume commented on…others that were the standard bearer for that type of post are disappearing rapidly and many long time posters are deleting their profiles…I lost 2 today…peacepunkin and an old favorite, gunneragirl. Things just won’t be the same without him and his passing has made me reflect on what I want from the place and why I go there.
Funny how someone you’ve never seen can effect your life in a big way…he actually made me a better person!…Thanks Hume
and thanks again for this Pepe…your actually one of the folks I miss over there too!
I certainly couldn’t find all the words you did, so thanks!!
The whole world of money seems like one gigantic Ponzi scheme.
I remember someone saying, If you’re living for the next pay check, you’re not living. Yet it seems that in my lifetime, that’s all people are doing.
I think the consciousness shifted when people started opening stores on Sunday and kept on going until many were open 24/7.
It became more about consumerism and not enjoying life or even bothering to slow down and enjoy the purchases before you ran out and purchased more, until billions of $$ are spent on storage units to hold all those consumed products that brought us all into this unholy mess!
When I was out of work and couldn’t spend money I really felt like an invisible member of the community. If I wasn’t spending money, no one cared about my existence.
One of my faves.
See ya later.
I am very happy I was born in America.
I’ve got more work today and am having a hard time leaving. I truly enjoy everyone’s input, if you miss a few days it takes hours to “catch up”, but always enjoyable…..
have a good one!!
It was nice because one of my sons have a mini movie screen as his tv and I could actually see where the puck was. It made all the difference in the world.
Glad you had such a nice time.
The stuff gets in between even the tightest weave in fabric. The residue seems to never leave. You always know if a cyclist has been there with their bike too. You can’t get the stuff off. Is the Sonran dust like that too?
I’ve never heard of that area.
Playa dust is a whole different entity. Coats everything and it was really difficult to wash off of a hard surface plastic lawn chair, I couldn’t get it all off no matter how many times I wiped it.
I’ll send my son on over to their camp next year. They can talk sh!t about us!!
Good sh!t that is!!!
Do you ever ask your kids if they think about that stuff in their lungs?
“I have been thinking that I would make a proposition to my Republican friends… that if they will stop telling lies about the Democrats, we will stop telling the truth about them.”
I worry about that stuff sticking to everyone’s lungs.
My kids go every year and take the most incredible sound system with them. The speakers NEVER look clean again!!!
A couple of days ago I mentioned that you and choicelady had moved my state of mind on that issue.
I know we are all aware of propaganda, but I myself have, at times, unwittingly become ensnared by it’s intricacies. It’s a daily struggle that many are too tired to fight.
How much more news and investigative journalism could we get from some one like Rachel Maddow if they didn’t have to spend so much time warning us about the latest opposition propaganda of the day.
Plus as you stated, if they were mentally ill, it’s still just an excuse, not a justification.
I know the difference of how I am treated when I am by myself compared to the way I’m treated because I am with my kids or my black friends. I’ve had people try to run me over in crosswalks because of my friendships. My children have been (since elementary school) and continue to be (they are now 22 and 24) called niggers.
These are only 2 small examples of the hatred we’ve experienced.
Some of my white friends thought I was making things up because they had never seen or experienced racism in out area. But when I questioned them as to how many times they had walked with any one of color, they had to admit they never have, so, my question was and is, how would they know about it? They think it doesn’t exist because no one is discriminating against their white butts!
But this little link here has been on my mind for days as one of the more hateful pieces of propaganda…this is what we are up against..
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/os-scott-maxwell-gay-adoption-020310-20100202,0,1037988.column
Even if you were a person that didn’t agree with gay parents adopting, how could this be ok?
The tolerance for hate is appalling and the religious right can hide so well behind articles like this if no one is fighting to expose them. This is one of the more underhanded things I’ve seen lately.
I only got half way through and will have to check it later.
Excellent, I NEVER would have found this on my own!
Thank you Sanity
Positive Vibrations.
I just brainwashed them all with Bob Marley lyrics!!!
