2010 – A Planet Odyssey

taffybelle, Happy New year and welcome.
You have the special honor of being the 200th!!
The more the merrier, as I would say.

I’ll do it too, I always sign my letters to her,
your other mother
I really like the girl.

One more??!!
Keven better start denying his dinner guests that food!
I think it would be a fun little “extra” to reach the 200 mark before the New Year begins.
I predict
This is going to be a power packed positive year, 2010.
I’m so happy to be alive and on the Planet.
This is a great time in the history of our nation!!

KevenSeven, I don’t know if I thanked you personally, but you sent a coded message to LTTL around the time he was briefly banned, and I decided to see what you were talking about.
I’ve been here ever since.
So hugs and kisses to you, I never fanned ya at HP cuz I thought you were a rather ornery ol’ coot, but I always paid attention to what you were saying!! You’ve still got an edge on over here and I appreciate all your input, that other place can really bring out the ornery in a person.

TRP,…an abusive relationship, that’s exactly what it’s like.
“It made me feel”…I can relate.
I’ve strolled in and out a few times, but the more I’m here, the less I can stomach it over there. It’s a real brain drain.
And I didn’t want to feel that way anymore….
It means a great deal to me to have this place to discuss the issues of the day without the negativity, I’m beginning to feel like I can think again.

Wow, that is some truly impressive numbers!! And all those countries!!!
It’s because you’ve done an excellent job at setting this site up.
As I’ve said before, I was looking for somewhere else to go. No site I went to offered what you do here.
It’s easy to navigate, it’s interesting and informative and it inspires critical intelligent thinking.
I also think the human touch of inter mingling and allowing personal comments, having fun with Friday night music, sharing poetry, favorite recipes and movie reviews, keeps us grounded and creates a much stronger group.
A heart felt thank you for all the hard work it must have taken to turn your vision into a reality that all of us can share.
Go Planet POV
Have we reached 200 yet?

Call Out Hypocrisy in 2010

and I don’t even drink!
I’d be the 1st to go down, but hey, can’t say it enough.
Fuck Dick Cheney….
it’s so liberating being able to say those words without having to disguise them, but just like kitty videos, I trust, in the coming year, we’ll move on to more mature dialogue on this subject…..

I always like to send a letter of encouragement and support for Reps that, I feel, are working on behalf of all Americans and not just his/her constituents. Here is Massa’s contact info in case you feel so inclined.

I want in on this fuck fest test…a big
Fuck Dick Cheney

» Posted By Hopeington On December 31, 2009 @ 3:43 pm

Dang, I went there, scrolled down and saw a photo of President Obama shining Sarah Palin’s shoes and I hot footed it right on out of there.
Media Matters needs to cover HuffPo the way they do Focks and Fiends. I have emailed them about my concerns, I think I may keep up with that. The Greek Whoracle has deceptively acquired too much influence.

One….blast the bitch off!!

» Posted By Hopeington On December 31, 2009 @ 2:19 pm

And of course a very happy New Year to you also Emerald!!
I used to have a little dog like yours named Petunia.
Great lap dog and hopped like a bunny!!
I now have a massive Tibetan Mastiff.

My (black)son was watching Maddow with me last night and as soon as he saw who DeMint was blocking he started laughing his head off!! “A black man, of course” is about all he could say….since the TSA has no real authority to unionize workers we saw the real reason he’s obstructing, it was written all over the color of Southers skin. And….
I too hope Grayson can keep himself from shootin that foot, he could really be a driving force in negotiations.

Her expose on Berman was another great example of the real work Rachel and her staff do for our benefit.

» Posted By Hopeington On December 31, 2009 @ 1:56 pm

Nope, not too OT for me, reading it gave me hope that something might be exposed that leads to shining a light on the incredible corruption of the Cheney Cabal.
One can dream!!

» Posted By Hopeington On December 31, 2009 @ 1:54 pm

I agree with Nellie’s comment,I gave a lot of thought to Rachel Maddow last night. She is one of the few on cable that is doing investigative reporting and not just rehashing AP headline stories.
She does an excellent job, but then you’ve got DeMint on GMA or the Early Show talking shit about President Obama and the TSA not having a director, but not one mention that it’s because he’s holding up the nomination on false pretenses.
So if the “MSM” isn’t going to hold anyone accountable, how does the message that Rachel is addressing, reach the people that really need to hear it?
I watched a (very boring) movie last night about Murrow and the McCarthy era, it took a strong and determined media presence to take him out. Getting out in front of the propaganda is one of the more difficult tasks we are facing in this coming year.
Democrats in leadership positions need to get a voice. Where’s Grayson when you need him?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I certainly wouldn’t bet big on that.

» Posted By Hopeington On December 31, 2009 @ 4:49 pm

Happy New Year to you TRP, thoroughly enjoyed your poetry and photos you’ve posted recently. Keep it comin this new year.

» Posted By Hopeington On December 31, 2009 @ 4:48 pm

A great happy New Year to everyone here.

I look forward to the continued sharing of ideas and expansion of personal thoughts here at Planet POV, and I hope the positive and honest dialogue that is offered, will give us a bigger presence on the web and attract others that are still willing to work for a change.
May 2010 bring us a year of prosperity, blessings and a dynamic new way to fight off the deluge of lying right wing rhetoric….
please.
And on that note, I’m going to add my Bob Marley message. Notice around the 2:00 mark when he brings down the lightening from the sky!!!( they edit that part out on most commercial videos) as he introduces the 2 leading political opposing leaders, Manley and Seaga. Positive Vibration!!!

The Golden Music Man

How are we going to put a stop to this madness is my question.
I’ve never seen anything like this. It was the media that put an end to McCarthyism, but the media is in cahoots with these guys. We need more political figures like Massa, that are tired of “getting kicked in the shins”.
We will need a massive push back campaign for 2010.

The Miracle

I hadn’t heard Emerald, but am totally thrilled for your family.
What a miracle!! They do happen…wish her a speedy recovery from me too!!

Huffington Post AKA It’s All Obama’s Fault: This Week’s Meme Obama Weak on Terror

I’m supposed to be working, but I have to add my 2 cents.
I saw this article, that for some reason, disturbed me more than all else I’d seen over at HP. I read it on the 24th, the day they posted it, and it was already closed for comments, which I found strange.
It is utterly shameless Obama Bashing at it’s high point.
Fox would be proud!!
How to combat this ceaseless attack of rethoric in the upcoming election cycle is my biggest concern.
We need a plan or these folks will tire us out. ?????

New Blood

Khirad, Truly thankful for this comprehensive post and your added comments! This type of in depth coverage I’ve been longing for.
I have no knowledge of the history of Iran, and while I know it is still “bare bones”, this post is both fascinating and informative.
One of the things I did like at HuffPo was the different links that the commenters would give to info that I would not have found on my own. I feel like I have that at the tip of my fingers here at the Planet
the best of the best!! Truly appreciated.

The GOP is Poised for Possible Gains in 2010

I think the problem is that Repubs only have one message, while Dems are a more diverse group and that leads to the “in fighting” and is perceived as lack of unity. That also leads to the message not being as focused as the right wing can do.
With all the independent thinking going on, I don’t see how they are going to pull off getting the message across, unless they can adopt this strategy, and come together as one. I’m not that hopeful. It has been one of my biggest frustrations that they couldn’t get out in front of the propaganda.
I also think that no one was prepared for the tactics that emerged since Obama’s election. They have been OVER the top and non stop. I’ve never seen anything like this, so how could anyone anticipate it.

I’ll be calling on ya. I’m located in Santa Cruz County, but my son does work all over the place. His posse is the Burning Man people,.
They are the young folks I’m going to focus on, mainly because he can get a large group together and I can take advantage of that.
Plus I am the accepted Mom of this group, lots of them call me Mom. They all respect me and will listen to me and engage in political conversations. I can get them to vote, if only to make me happy!!!
I figure, if this is my position in life, I’m going to shamelessly use it to my own advantage.
If you don’t vote, you can’t complain.

» Posted By Hopeington On December 28, 2009 @ 1:46 pm

I am already planning my “get off your ass and vote” strategy.
I intend to use my son’s big blow out parties he does for all the tweekers who aren’t really connected to how the government is effecting and controlling their lives.
I’ve heard the complaining over at HP, from SO CALLED progressives, saying they’re not going to vote. Part of me thinks that those posters are people paid to stir up dissent because I can’t believe progressives don’t understand the danger in not voting.
However I won’t take any chances.
My Sen is Barbara Boxer and my Reps in Congress are Sam Farr and Eshoo. We have a tea party candidate that is going to run against Boxer and I need to be sure that she doesn’t win. While there are pockets of liberal voters in CA, it is largely a Republican state of mind here.
I’m preparing to be
Fired Up…Ready To Go

A Few Poems From My Newest Book…

Really enjoyed A Thief in the Temple.
The barefooted thief slinks away without worrying a breeze.
Loved that line. Keep up the good work!

My letter to the FDA today

Fortunately my parents weren’t big smokers, but I can certainly relate to addictiveness of smoking.
You remember my son who just had lung surgery? He hasn’t had the stitches out and somehow got hold of a pack of Marlboros.
Nothing any of us have said or done will stop him.
I still smoke a bit, American Spirits…It’s one of the legal drugs I do, caffeine, nicotine and sugar.
I quit for many years and then started up again.
Quitting is a very personal journey, that must come from your own desire and choice. It’s one of the hardest things to do.
