Despite the baseless memes, President Obama has an astounding number of accomplishments in just two years in office. Here is just a partial list of them.
Many veterans are injured either physically or emotionally or by some illness brought on by (in my case) Agent Orange. We all carry memories that we wish we never had to.
I got a call from a recruiting Sgt. at work. He said "Why don't you join the Army boy?" My response was "No thanks, I'll take my chances with the draft." That was the wrong thing to say to a recruiting Sgt., only two weeks later I got my first draft notice in the mail.
It all comes down to profits for those who have more to gain from war than peace. We have McCain in the Senate who never met a war he didn't like. Why, because he can line his pockets with considerations.
What do you suppose he is hiding? Why is all the information about him classified? Was he treated differently than other POW's? Why is he such a "hawk"?
The Navy played an important role in supporting the D-Day Landings. Off of Omaha Beach, my dad and his crew bombarded beaches where American forces struggled to survive.
It is a disgrace that we ask these people to fight and then when they get back to America they are abandoned.
Guys in Vietnam (I talk from experience about Nam) saw buddies wounded or killed. Many of us helped get them on choppers to get medical help. Most of us had to shoot enemy soldiers. Believe me that is not easy for some of us. I know it haunts me. It goes against human nature to kill other human beings. Oh, there are some people who like killing, no doubt. But I think most folks do not enjoy taking life from another human.
My point is that war does things to you and to some people it does something different. Tom and some others enjoyed it. He would have gone back again if they had not identified his mental health problem and treated him.
When the veterans who served their country are retired after 3 or more years of service, they are excellent possible employees for some business.
