Dr. King

In a hot auditorium in Charleston, SC on July 30, 1977, I heard Dr. Martin Luther King declare: “I’m not gonna say, ‘Burn baby burn’!” I’m gonna say “Build baby build!”

It’s the first day of the GOP controlled Congress and the entire Republican Party is showing off who’s in charge around this country. That is, who’s in charge of bribery, racism and corruption.

Almost in parallel with Climate Change, the climate of politics and world events seems to be intensified by human events, we see extremes happening more often and more swiftly than in previous years.

Kim Jong Il - Santa

It’s that time of year when magical wishes are in the air and people believe that fantasies can come true…no, it’s not Rand Paul’s Presidential campaign launch, it’s Christmas!

Cuba-vs-US

Cuba and the US have had a long history of adversarial relations. Yet we have diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Cuba didn’t kill 50,000 Americans, but we have ostracized Cuba! Why? Why have we not done what President Obama has just done long ago?

black lives matter march NYC

In the end, no one can maintain their power because of the inverse property of power, every action creates an equal and opposite reaction. And that is our eternal job as the majority of human beings on this planet, to be that equal and opposite reaction to those who accumulate power and use it to gratify themselves at the expense of the lives and well being of others.

congress poll 2014

Republicans have every right to claim that the election was a statement of support for them and a rejection of Obama…the Supreme Court has already ruled that lying is protected under the 1st Amendment and all that Republicans are trying to do is strengthen the 1st Amendment.

Out of the total of 36% of eligible voters who voted in this year’s election, even if Republicans averaged a 10% margin of victory over Dems overall (55% to 45%), that means only 19% of American voters voted for Republicans. So Democrats should be running scared because 81% of U.S. voters didn’t vote for Republicans?

Vets flag

Many veterans are injured either physically or emotionally or by some illness brought on by (in my case) Agent Orange. We all carry memories that we wish we never had to.

What do you do now that Republicans won a wave election? Just what Republicans did when Democrats won wave elections in 2008 and 2012. Become intransigent and refuse to work with them because America made clear they want a President who’ll block Republicans and represent their values. Easy peasy!

I knew things were going to go badly in NY. I am no spring chicken, and the vast majority of voters were older than me (we’re trending into the 60-90 year old range).

Dumb Dumber GOP

Too many Americans have become “dumb” voters, they vote on little more than emotion. They feel upset at DC so they knee jerk vote for the party that doesn’t control the White House…even though it is the party they’re voting for that has caused the problems that led to their being upset.

GOP crushes Dems

A lot of money has been spent on a tiny Missouri state assemby race by the GOP….by our estimates six times the average. Why? There is no way she was ever going to win. Why throw so much money at so small a race?

Square Peg in a Round Hole

Has this ever worked? Have Democrats ever succeeded as a party by agreeing with Republicans, “I suppose you’re right, The President from our party IS a dick!”? If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, the Democratic Party may need to hold its next convention in Arkham Asylum.

Martha Coakley reminds me of Hillary Clinton to the extent that she is clearly intelligent, cares about the issues, yet fails to connect to the citizenry.
