The 2020 election is an existential moment for the United States. Next November will decide whether this country recovers its sovereignty or is dragged deeper under Russian influence. 2020 will determine whether the Russian/Republican vision of remaking U.S. democracy into a dictatorship will be fulfilled or buried.
I dream of a state in which all voices are heard, not just those of the rich, powerful and connected. A government that works for ALL of its citizens, not just the few who can afford to hire lobbyists. I dream of educational excellence and economic opportunity...I dream of a state we can all be proud to say is our home.
Nominating and electing a 77 year old man who will be 81 years old when it's time for re-election is not long term thinking. In 2024, Republicans will have the anti-incumbent momentum and likely, a younger and more energetic candidate. As bad as things are now, they could be even worse under a Repub (Don Jr. or Ivanka?) in 2025.
Why isn't the "white working class" identity politics? Are these politicians saying that what is good for the white working class, is good for everyone? In a perfect world, what is good for one American SHOULD be good for ALL Americans. The problem is we don't live in a perfect world.
I hope states move quickly to use the courts to stop this historic attempt at election theft by Trump but everyone in power, especially Dems in Congress, need to "lock up" Trump ASAP from stealing this country's most valuable possession, our democracy.
The Democratic nominee for President in 2020 should consider a "New Frontier"-type campaign, not only because it is a proven path to success but because, as President Kennedy said about the fight for racial equality, "It is the right thing to do."
Many brave Democrats lost their seats in 2010 for voting for the ACA but in doing so, they saved and helped millions of Americans, past, present and future. What they did was noble and profound, they changed history for the better. Clearly, Manchin and Sinema are not cut from the same cloth but perhaps they can be leveraged to do the right thing and become reluctant heroes in the end despite themselves.
"Look, it's all very simple. If you want to vote for Sleepy Joe, you vote 'Trump' on your ballot. And you can do that with the confidence that the president who promised to make Mexico pay for the wall and end American carnage would never cancel Opposite Day once the votes are in," Trump snickered into both hands, leaving an orange crust on both palms when they lowered.
There is one person who could gum up the works of Trump's dictatorship-in-process. And he's not even in elected office. Yet. Joe Biden has said that this election is a battle for the very soul of America. So right now would be a good time for Biden to really flex on this, step up and fire a loud warning shot across the bow of Trump's henchmen. The Rule of Law is coming back in 2021...and it could be coming for them.
For decades at a minimum, the core dogma of the GOP has been fascism, insisting that only Republicans are entitled to hold power and any elections that result in Democrats winning and people of color being empowered, are by definition, illegitimate or fraudulent.

I don’t worry about that despite the warnings from nervous people on what they have to say about Siri and Alexa. I frankly don’t care if these paired-down AI functions are collecting information. What they would get from me would be tedious and confusing at best.
