Weekend Music Thread – Oldies But Goodies

Pledge drive on the local PBS station, they’re showing a 1969 TV special about these two, IMO the best duo ever:

Before my time, but a good one, the Glenn Miller orchestra, “In The Mood”. Before MTV there were “Soundies”, juke boxes that would play 16MM films of songs, not sure, but this could be one.

A lot of songs I liked when I was young, I don’t anymore, but “Levon” has always been one of my favorites. I also think “Madman Across The Water” is his best album, this song, “Tiny Dancer” and the title track all on the same side.

There was nothing quite like getting to see the Dead do a series of shows at the University of Oregon, just down the road from Kesey’s farm. Speaking of Kesey, in 96 or 97, I was lucky enough to get “on the bus” and burn some with him at the WHEE fest in Oregon.

I’m lucky enough to live just a block above the water and walk there almost daily, and just had a thought. Why is it if you live on a rickety, leaky old boat, you’re cool, romantic and adventurous, but if you live in a rickety, leaky old trailer, you’re a pathetic loser?

You just can’t make this stuff up(well you can, but you know what I mean). A local, small town sheriff was sentenced for stealing SSI money from disabled people to pay off his gambling debts.

THE EAGLE (has trouble) LANDING

I live in Bellingham, WA and get to see eagles often. Last summer I worked on a San Juan island cruise boat and eagles were a quite regular sight, it was always interesting to see people get excited about seeing them. I took several pictures, but none as good as yours, you can go to youtube and search my channel under zenith1959 to see a few whale videos I shot.
