Historian says Iraq “democracy” doomed to failure

Didn’t see it or hear it, but I have to admire Grayson. A little over the edge, but has the cajonnes to say (outloud mind you) what many others are just thinking.

I tend to do the same thing and it gets me in trouble ALL the time.

The Billionaires Behind The Hate

Lobbying should be against the law. Most of these old goats wouldn’t stand a chance on their own merits. Exception, “my Sen. Sherrod Brown who is a really cool guy and NOT an old goat.

Thanks for the post. Who knew? Why is it that I feel so helpless against people like this. Do they hope we’ll get tired and go away?

As far as a picture, don’t feel bad. I’ve forgotten twice already and someone has graciously added them.

The straight poop about Canadian health care

Ecat and anyone with insurance difficulties…

A couple of years ago, I didn’t have insurance either, but was (still am) taking 3 very expensive drugs. With the help of my doc, I applied to the pharma co.’s patient assistance programs and was able to get a year’s supply of each; then had to reapply. Here is a Google link to a list of many of the pharma foundation links:

http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=pharmaceutical+company+foundations&aq=0c&aqi=g-c1&oq=PHARMACEUTICAL+FOUNDATIONS&fp=b36c7832dbb01be6

That said, most have stringent requirements, especially re: income. Initially I didn’t qualify, but didn’t give up. I was eventually approved and received free meds for a couple of years.

It’s worth a try. πŸ™‚

INCREMENATALISM: Grown Up or Beaten Down?

I just can’t make up my mind and have been pondering this for months…is he more Deputy Dawg or Eyore? πŸ™‚

An Open Letter to Arianna, With Deep Sincerity

Thanks!

I did write a short piece over the weekend about Perpetuum Jazzile. The group is from Ljubljana, Slovenia. If vocal music is of interest to you, you might want to read about the group.

» Posted By boomer1949 On December 8, 2009 @ 3:31 pm

Yes I am. Absolutely! Now if I can only write as well (okay ALMOST as) as everyone else, I’ll be in 7th heaven. πŸ™‚

» Posted By boomer1949 On December 8, 2009 @ 3:14 pm

Cheers!

2.5 years and I canceled over the weekend. I am so glad to read that others have experienced the same behaviors. For awhile there, I thought it was my imagination, but then during the campaign and following the election, respect and decorum was pretty much flushed.

Found out about PPOV from HITO and I’m glad I did.

btw — anyway comments/replies can be locked so they can’t be cut/copied/pasted?

A warning about trolls

Welcome Solomon,

Yes, we can all get along…the key word here is “WE” and “WE” is everyone here.

If what you say is true regarding, “CALM and open debate,” then you are as welcome as anyone else on the Planet. That said however, all of us here respect each other, we don’t play games, we listen, we don’t judge, and as President Obama did in extending his hand, either get with the program or get off the train.

Talk soon!

Afternoon Ramierz — welcome!

I don’t look like Maggie Simpson either — but I try to treat everyone else the way I would like to be treated. Being disrespectful or disingenuous? Neither is at the top of my list.

Several months ago, I thought I read something about HS being paid to be there. Is that true?

» Posted By boomer1949 On December 8, 2009 @ 2:26 pm

No, it’s just plain ignorance and there is no excuse for it. Amazing how people hide behind the computer screen believing they’re “anonymous” when with a little research…well you know…

Done and thanks for the heads up!

Perpetuum Jazzile – Accapella Choir – Ljubljana Slovenia

Kal… well for starters I’m working from home on Monday.

Second…you must…absolutely must get the latest Perpetuum Jazzile CD “Africa.” Phenomenal, uplifting, and talented group beyond your imagination. One can’t help but feel better…regardless of the circumstances.

Kalima…

I’m sure there will be plenty of time. They’re not due here ’til Summer 2010. And…if all else fails? There’s always Ljubljana October/November 2010.

Please don’t toss in the towel just yet — okay?

Hi HITO!

Go figure. I intended to go see them in October for my 60th b-day. Unfortunately, had numerous Sr.Moments and totally neglected to make plans.

So…rumor has it (from a very good source/their manager) PJ will be here Summer 2010. I have already planned to figure out a way to see them here, but if not? Heck I’m going to Ljubljana in the fall 2010.

Want to tag along — let’s make it a group thing…?

Naps are not an excuse dear…calling off work tomorrow..totally different circumstances. πŸ™‚

Thinking about it though…:-) Merlot and I have had an extraordinary evening….:-)

» Posted By boomer1949 On December 6, 2009 @ 8:33 pm

Please don’t give up. I haven’t and I don’t believe anyone else hanging around here has either. “specially the kids from Ljubljana. Trust me, I have the CD and watched the YouTube posts. PJ is real, honest, loves music, touches ones heart, and crosses sooo many political barriers.

Why is it such a difficult concept? Not you..just sayin’.

RE: Perpetuum Jazzile…

Once the tour dates are announced — wouldn’t it be great for all of us to show up in the same place at the same time? I promise to dress up like a celeb so no one is disappointed. πŸ™‚

boomer1949

PS — this is so much more fun than the “other” side of the street.

‘kay..didn’t know I could: here goes:

“Dear Julie,

Indeed, Mr. Obama is a breath of fresh air in the international politics for us too … I hope he does as much good for the unprivileged parts of the World as possible!

Perpetuum Jazzile plans the concert tour to happen in the June/July 2010 – coast to coast. We don’t have the specific locations yet, but I believe we will be covering the major cities. We are also preparing a few meant-to-be very resounding concert co-operations, but still need some time to get to more specific details where I can tell you more. So let’s stay in touch! πŸ™‚

Merry Christmas to you too! πŸ™‚

Bostjan”

E,

It’s all about the music. I’ve yet to determine if any of them have “day jobs.”

Nevertheless, love of music — people — life. What a concept! Duh!

Order the CD — you will not be disappointed. Perpetuum has been around for many years…these kids are the children/grandchildren of former Perpetuum members. It’s been handed down from generation to generation. All of us should take a lesson.

The CD is $14.99 and the distributor is in TN. As I said before you (no one) will NOT be disappointed. And…if you feel so inspired…please pass this along. They deserve our support and recognition…especially if they’ll be touring the Summer 2010.

AdLib,

Personally? I don’t care. Scary as it may seem, I trust y’all. Anyone who dumps the “OTHER PLACE” has my trust beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Kalima,

I am listening to the CD for about the millionth (is this a word?) time. I am so sorry to hear about your friend (my daughter danced [ballet, tap, jazz] for 15 years and then chose Education/Kindergarten as a career.

As I said earlier, I stumbled across Perpetuum as a result of a YouTube video. I purchased their most recent CD not only for myself, but for several friends for the holidays.

If only the powers that be would only listen…the world would be a much better and safer place.

Thank you for your reply. I think the most inspiring track of the “Africa” CD is Perpetuum’s rendition of “Will You Be There” as a tribute to Michael Jackson. It is phenomenal, uplifting, and should make all the “old goats” feel useless. Unfortunately, it isn’t going to happen. However, I believe we know better.

» Posted By boomer1949 On December 6, 2009 @ 6:05 pm

My pleasure — absolutely.

The most recent CD can be found at http://www.perpetuumjazzile.si — something “shop”. There is a CD and also a DVD. I purchased the CD for myself and some friends. The DVD is next on my list, however, just listening and not watching,as it were, is more exciting.

I’d rather listen until I can see them in person.

Again, thank you to whomever filled in the picture I neglected to include.

They are truly uplifting. If the powers that be could only see beyond the Egos. Don’t you think?

All,

I forgot the darn picture again! Shame on me…I’ll get it eventually, but thanks to whomever added it πŸ™‚

In any event, I just received another email from their manager…they’re coming to the States this Summer! Foolish as I may be, I sent an email to the White House informing them of such and in my naivete also intend to let PBS know as well. These kids are beyond phenomenal and too talented to overlook while they’re here.

The website is http://www.perpetuumjazzile.si

Jan Trost is the musical director and he posts YoutTube videos on a regular basis — which is how I fell into the music. If only everyone could be so open, caring, free, and willing to live and let live.
