I,m sorry you feel that way. there are many things one can do. Like nellie says “work for your candidate in the primaries”. Become a precinct committee person.
It is your ship do what you can to help guide it.Grab bucket and start bailing.

Afghanistan: The end?

Neo-cons, neo-libs, what is the difference? why, how can one dictate how their country will be ruled and governed without militaristic suppression? Did not the Romans learn(and forget) that little point? Without complete colonization both Afghanistan,Iraq, and as seen in Pakistan revert to the ways and wants of they way they choose to govern themselves? What is so wrong in Afghanistan if the choose their tribal councils and their “Loya Jurga” (sp)? They have used that system longer than the U.S. has been here.
The border area was drawn by the west dividing tribes and was completely artificial.
I appreciate your post Franken, but there are so many complexites to this question. It does make one (me) to try to put it into words.
So I will say good job and I will be back with schools, Takfiris,and the role of the clerics/mullahs.

Nellie, Sue, When I read about how much money is being spent against any of the Dem proposals it makes me wonder how the HC Bill even got to the floor. Millions of dollars a DAY. There are so many groups that I don;t know if anyone has a full list. And they are just clever enough to fool many with their names.I started a list a few months ago of the ones I knew of, but what of the ones that fly under the radar and just pay lobbyists? Again nelli, our pets: campaign finance reform and corporate person hood.

Sue, I read some of this at Think Progress/Wonk Room, glad you posted this story.
This family are some real jewels of the crown of the RW. Birchers, Cato, Heritage……and who knows what else they support. Being a privately held company they could have their fingers in a lot of things

Welcome Rarest, Was that show on PBS? It was a writer with a bad shoulder and went around the world? That was good.
I don’t believe that the republicans want to show the least hint of cooperation in helping to govern. The house is now up in arms about financial regulations saying the Dems want to kill capitalism.

Another difference from FDR to today’s political atmosphere.
FDR had a captive audience with the Radio. That was it(and the newspapers andstaged news reels). Today we have a bombardment of access to the media. whole different challenge for President Obama.
how different would have governed with TV, 24hr cable, blogs, the whole internets thing?
