These tips should be handed out to all patients. On one of my first visits to my oncologist and I came to the understanding that I wanted to know everything going on during treatment. He said “good, some people don’t want to know anything. On the RN and all the staff: I have seen the Nurse Ratchett to Nightingales change from one patient to the next. Simply because some treated them as servants and showed them no respect. I learned many years ago a patient will get better care if they do have someone there checking on their care daily (more work for the caregiver) My tip for care givers: Patients (Your loved ones) can be assholes. Chemo patients doubly so! They/we don’t mean it, excuse them/us. Don’t start or finish an argument over something trivial. Many! years later I was told I had very good “spatial perception” “What”?” I thought. Years later I read an article that listed it as a good gift for a child to develop it. Who’d thunk?
One year, my parents bought us a subscription to a book with monthly updates called “Pack-O-Fun.” I’m sure my sisters and I thought “Oh, a book, where are they toys?”
Ends up we spent countless hours making many of the projects from that simple book for many years. And every month we would look forward to that months projects.
I think I tried to make a willow whistle at least a dozen times before I made one that “sorta” worked.
Oh, so simple-Oh, what fun-Oh, what memories!
The best gift may be the imagination. The second may be a gift that lets you use it!

Your list is great! I was my mothers’ caregiver during her cancer for two years. I would have loved to have had someone to just sit nearby and give me a 3 hr break to see my doctor. I even got to the point of asking one of her “friends.” I got a “I’ll see.”
I kept asking her to go to the University’s teaching hospital and get a thorough work up not just what each one of her doctors was looking for.
I have,IMO, been lucky that my last stays have been in a teaching hospital and both the teams and specialists coordinate daily. For my cancer I am under a NIH approved clinical trial and they give me excellent care. (they don’t want to screw up the trial~)
Oh, that’s who we need back in the WH. “let’s start another bloody war.
I read in a NYT article that Montazori said he regretted the takeover of the US Embassy during the revolution. Though his death is recent, the potential for him to be a symbol for the reform/green movement seems large.
