Should Pot Be Legal or Not?

Thank you. I forgot about those law enforcement industries that would lose profits by “seizing” (turning over part, and selling the rest)drugs. Then there’s the prison industrial complex. It’s another way for the powers that be, to keep us focused on “shiny objects”, while they allow the 1% to run roughshod, with the help of churches, who keep us scared.

There are many reasons to keep it illegal, just none, as far as I’m concerned, that are legitimate. The industries that are likely to lose profits, and be sad, are pharmaceutical, textile and lumber. People can have pain relief without those nasty side effects. It would likely help relieve anxiety and/or depression that often accompany pain. Paper can be manufactured without cutting down all those trees. Hemp requires less water than cotton, to grow. It is more resistant to pests, so less, if any, pesticides needed. It produces more, and stronger, fibers than cotton, for longer lasting clothing. Personally, I would use it for pain relief. I wouldn’t smoke it for fear of harming my lungs, but would use the edibles. The munchies are problematic, but probably most prevalent in those of us prone to overeating already, and the current anti-depressant/anti-anxiety drugs tend to increase appetite anyway. It is not a gateway to anything, except to the fridge (as the joke goes). Much safer than alcohol, in my opinion.

Filial Love

KT

Thanks for sharing that story. I can only imagine the anxiety that you must have been going through, until you actually saw your mom. I’m so glad that she’s okay. Keep in close touch, even after you get home from your next visit. That’s a very special relationship.

The Sunday Funnies to Take a Brief Hiatus

Sally,
I love the Sunday Funnies, and appreciate the hard work that goes into putting it together, but health must always come first. Best wishes for successful preparation, surgery, and full recovery. Enjoy the family time. We’ll all be here when you come back.

What Can Be Done to Stop Children From Crossing Our Borders?

I think we need to recognize this as a refugee crisis. We can’t, in good conscience, just send them back. First, they all need to be processed. If they have family here, they should be reunited. If not, well I’d like to hear some ideas.

Iraq And The Ghosts Of South Vietnam

I hadn’t thought about McCain living vicariously through the soldiers he happily sends off to war. Can’t we just give him a Virtual Reality war simulator? He can get his rocks off…..sorry, I mean play war to his hearts’ content, without costing so much in money and lives.

I think we were afraid of the commies. There will always be some boogeyman, or another, to “justify us going and staying at war, in the eyes of war profiteers, and warmongers.

I knew some felt that we were premature in leaving Viet Nam. It had not previously occurred to me, that in addition to the obvious war profiteers, did some (McCain, et al.)believe that “winning” in Iraq, or anywhere, could make up for losing in Viet Nam? I feel like I’ve answered my own question. Great article!

Obama 41% Approval Rating Proof Of The Public’s Lack Of Basic Current Events Knowledge

Hey Murph, Thanks for this excellent post. I emailed it to my dear mom. I have to talk her down, almost daily, from the gloom and doom, of the Emotional Progressives. She watches them all day on the (all too often) stupid teevee machine.

The Once and Future Impeachment of Barack Obama

I know it does little good to look back now, but I hope those dems, that stayed home in 2010, realize the damage they’ve contributed to. I hope, somehow, we are able hold the Senate, and keep them from, at the very least, gaining ground in the House. While they make the President’s life a living hell, they’re doing the same to the country.

The South lost the war? Tell that to all them folks who are still fightin’ “the war of Northern aggression”, and their Northern sympathizers. I’ve no doubt that if they hold the House after the election, they’ll start Impeachment proceedings, and likely Impeach, for no other reason than to leave a permanent black mark intended)by this President’s name. BTW, I really hope you’re correct, and we won’t see another GOTPer in the White House any time soon.

Huffington Post Finalizes Its Divorce From Its Bloggers

I pretty much stopped commenting HP posts when they married AOL. It was already annoying enough reading through the (obviously) RW troll comments. I don’t remember how I got here (almost ) 2 years ago, but no doubt I followed some of these funny and talented people. I’m not a blogger, and rarely even comment anymore, but I really do love to read the blogs and comments here. It’s comfortable here, like friends, even though I’m more of a lurker. I share most of these blogs with my friends/followers on FB and Twitter (though every day I vow to keep my politics off FB).
