The Grand Old Party of Sedition

This has nothing to do – absolutely nothing – with the Senate.
Any agreement will go to the UN Security Council.
If approved, it is binding upon all.

It is not a treaty.

These people are doing nothing to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons. In fact, they are making it easier.

And, if the International Nuclear Organization makes an agreement with Iran, those people can do nothing about it.

The root cause of this is apathy on the part of Americans; they do not pay attention or study the matter. And, they do not vote.

Too stupid for words.

Remembering Selma – The Civil Rights Movement: What Went Wrong?

James M Brodie, you are correct.
On all points.

There is, I think, another point:
Far too many white people have not done the work on themselves needed to change their ideas, feelings and attitudes.
Their own lives and the lives of black people would be much better if they did this work on themselves.

Netanyahu’s Alternative to Averting Nuclear War with Iran…A Conventional War with Iran

Benjamin Netanyahu:
No thank you. I am not buying what you are selling.

There is, also, a domestic audience that he is preaching to. There is an election in Israel and he has to establish his national security credentials in Israel.

As for other countries: he has told that story on more than one occasion.

Hate Crime or Not? You Tell Me

It is shameful.
The USA is nowhere near becoming color blind.

» Posted By agrippa On March 4, 2015 @ 5:32 am

Not a hate crime at all.
I believe that it is politics as usual. They are the opposition.
They may be overdoing it; but, they are the prisoners of their passions. I am not surprised.

It is a shame that they are practicing rational problem solving. But, typically, politicians do not rationally solve problems until all other options have been exhausted. Sad, but true.

Republicans Fear Latinos and Losing Re-Election More Than Terrorism

The GOP may think that it will work. Their base is the Old Confederacy which is a one party region.
The members of the GOP who are not from that region have “to along to get along”. Just like the Democrats had to do before the Nixon “Southern Strategy.

All things considered, this is their best shot. They do need to stay in office.

Weak on national security eh?

Who was president on 9/11?

Some Thoughts on Race and Crime…

Unfortunately, we will be living with racism for a long time.
And, I am pessimistic about it ‘dissolving’ soon.
Many years ago – 30+ – one of my college professors made a remark that racism ( he called it ‘prejudice’) would exist until the races were all mixed up. He may be right.

To me, the issue turns upon conduct. A white person can harbor prejudice toward black people unto the crack of doom. But, if that prejudice is not expressed in behavior, all that white person has done is to give himself a bellyache. Which is his personal problem.

I, also, have to say that black people cannot rely upon getting much help from many white people. A lot of white people simply do not care. Sad, but true.

Peelian Principles.

Police Departments are not run according to Peelian Principles.

That failure is a reason why people mistrust the Police.

You are welcome.
Morning Blog is a big time saver for me.
It is not easy trying to keep up.

» Posted By agrippa On March 19, 2015 @ 9:32 am

I do not post (anywhere on line) very often.
I read the Morning Blog on a regular basis; it is- always – excellent.

WATCH & CHAT LIVE: President Obama’s 2014 State of the Union Address – 6:00pm PST

I think that PBO is a logical, sensible, level headed, smart man. He does not fit into the dysfunctional village that is DC. Most of the GOP; most of the “pundits”; some Democrats cannot handle it.
Dc is a pretty toxic and narcissistic place; a large number of the politicians and ‘pundits’ do not work well with others.

People got the government that they wanted. The people who voted for those people are the ones responsible for this mess.
They have the government that they have earned; not just deserve.

Social Security, Medicare, The Deficit, Poverty, Unemployment – One Vote Could Help Them All

Increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour is an excellent idea; it would very useful.
But, that will have to wait until the Democratic Party gains the HoR.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Our Corporate Anthem

If you want to have an effect, it is important to understand that politics is local. Candidates for state legislatures and HoR Reps are decided at the local election. Many of the candidates are promoted from city, county and school boards. The primary election is controlled at the local level.
GOTV is at the local level.

Money, of course, comes from higher up the ladder. The higher Party leaders parcel out the money to each district; which means if the Party ‘cannot win’ the seat, the candidate does not get much money. That is what made Dean’s ’50 state’ strategy so important.

NEWTOWN: One year later and seemingly no wiser

Many refuse to see the connection between firearms and death.

Huffington Post Goes NSA on Its Members

I never thought highly of Huffington Post. I thought it was sensationalistic – it was full of clickbait.
I decided that creating clickbait was the editorial policy of the site.
The comments reflected that; in other words, the site trolled itself.
I just go there for the comedy.

Huffington Post is not unusual – “if it bleeds, it leads” – the Daily Beast and Mother Jones are full of clickbait as well.
It is how a website ( not different from print, radio or TV) makes money.

Mandela Thoughts…

Mandela was, truly, outstanding.

He was instrumental in bringing about peaceful change in South Africa.
It may never have occurred without his actions.

The GOP Problem with the Problem About the Problem with Obamacare

Got it in one

» Posted By agrippa On December 4, 2013 @ 4:07 pm

Yes, it is a law.
my error.

» Posted By agrippa On December 4, 2013 @ 4:06 pm

I agree.
But, the GOP, across the country, has about 45% of the votes no matter what. And, it has the “Solid South”; a region that is, currently, GOP.
The Democratic Party has to make sure that the GOP does not get the 5 or 6 % more it needs.

» Posted By agrippa On December 4, 2013 @ 5:26 am

Kalima, the GOP is the opposition. It must oppose no matter what.
It is its’ nature.

» Posted By agrippa On December 4, 2013 @ 5:09 am

The sky did not fall. It never has; it never will.
The GOP does not like this bill; it never will. They are the opposition and they must oppose.
The MSM is a copy cat; or like birds on a wire. It cannot help being what it is.

The ACA is a good bill which will help millions. It will even help those who say that they hate it.
