Here we have an ideology of contradictions. The Right insists on keeping big government OUT of our collective lives entirely. Yet, by becoming a Christo-Fascist state, they would insist on imposing Christian values, laws and beliefs on the citizenry by banning women’s right to choose, outlawing same sex partnering and who can imagine what else? This also would serve to isolate the US from a majority of the world’s trading partners, inflame the Muslim world and only serve to affirm the global notion that America is a nation hell-bent on feeding its superiority complex. The hypocrisy of the religious Right has never been more apparent to our society, yet people like Sarah Palin (just admitted to crossing into Canada to take advantage of its HC system) and the too numerous to mention Representatives that practice lewd, anti-biblical acts all seem to easily brush off the facts and still either get elected or enjoy a cult following of supporters no matter their indiscretions. It borders on insanity. They claim to speak for all Americans, yet the numbers simply say otherwise. They Jedi-mind-trick the masses into believing what they say is so simply because they SAY IT’S SO. How can you fight against that? I have no answers. I admit to occasionally gazing up at the stars and asking the universe to chuck a decent sized asteroid into the planet just level the playing field all over again. I can’t help but think that would be the only scenario that would help us all remember just how horridly petty all of these quasi-religious battles really are. It’s right up there with the ‘name-it-claim-it’ mentality of some of the more extreme believers.
It’s a shame we don’t have the same set of rules with local, state and federal authorities when it comes to committing crimes, right? (Although major corporations seem to have found a loophole) 😉
I have even gotten tired of PBS now that I have to sit through 3 minutes of ‘not commercial’ sponsors before every program. I realize donating to public TV isn’t all that glamorous but honestly, they run commercials.
Why does purchasing programming cost more now than it did, say, 10 years ago? More things are shot digitally and not on costly film and production was supposed to become way cheaper due to new software improvements, etc. The price for programming should have dropped…not escalated. Jeez…I mean, ask all of the out of work TV and film production people!
I frequently watch LINK, Current and PBS yet, LINK hasn’t gotten their programming niche down quite right yet and current is strange…even for me. (take that Al Gore)
I try to tune into the BBC news and (I’m going to get skewered for this, but..) Al Jazeera news often. They never wear the rose tinted or completely blacked out glasses in their reporting.
Totally helps get a handle on just how fragile, yet invasive we are as a species….The God-like perspective really is amazing. There is a sort of poetry to this production and I hope everyone takes the time to seek this film out, download it and savor the beautiful intricacies of human nature.

There is just so much…dis-ease in this world. There seems to be an underlying pandemic of not just apathy, but rage as well. The moment the world’s business models decided it was ‘good business’ to sell umbrellas at three times their normal price during a thunderstorm, is when we started to derail…so somewhere moments after Adam and Eve got booted from the Garden, then. There appears to be a systemic breakdown of basic humanity at the very core of every ill that is now rearing its collective head. We’ve embraced a Ferengi business model for the globe. (Please Wiki Ferengi for all of those non-Trekkers out there)
I consider myself a good man. A smart guy. Creative, clever, and dedicated. Will I survive 2 seasons on the streets? I’m not so sure. Why can’t I find work? Anywhere? From the government to gas stations…I can’t get so much as an interview. So this makes me a stray. An orphan of America. Do you know how impossible it will be when I lose a permanent address to send mail to? Or lose my cellphone and internet connection to the world? How does a human bounce back from that? Every site I go to to ask for help I get the typical platitudes…I get it…I also get called loser, fuck up and worse…and that’s by the so-called Christians.
What’s to be done about all of this….all of this madness the world has embraced…I have no answers…I am trying too hard to just survive, folks…Please let me know when someone finds an answer…it comes down to life or death to me…
