This should be a no brainer, but the big utilities are fighting the distributed energy business model. They want to keep their cash cow nuke plants and coal plants and keep us all energy slaves. We could be producing so much of the energy we need at the point of use, its ridiculous.
They are doing this on a grand scale in Germany (nuke free & carbon free) and having a fantastic success with it.

It has been awhile, I have been very busy with kids of course and we are all doing fine. This nuke issue has pretty much taken up most of my other energies. We have many on the ground actions with our local city councils, school districts and other events. The link to the Symposium at the New York Academy of Medicine is lengthy, but it truly sums up the issue and touches on some of the problems we have here in the states with nuke plants. I recommend that everyone take the time to listen to all of the presentations, on both days, this is the info that is being repressed in our MSM here in the states. Shame on the MSM.

Thank you dear, As you can imagine, yes, we do have our hands full.
I live five miles away from the San Onofre nuclear reactors.
I hope you and the kitty cats are well, I have worried about all of you in Japan.
Over the last year I have met folks from Japan that have evacuated back to the States. They have been willing to live separate from their families to protect their children.
I hope you, and everyone, can take the time to listen to the info from the Symposium at the New York Academy of Medicine. The first two presentations have English subtitles, but don’t let that slow you down from the rest of the presentations.

We gather to share information and direction on how we will stop San Onofre from re-opening. HarveyW will speak and moderate as we prepare to WIN a battle on which our survival depends.
Ominous signs have surfaced. Southern California Edison says San Onofre is “safe” and ready to re-start. The utility say Unit 2 can be run at 100% power, even though they propose to “test” it at 70%.

The NRC now says they’ll decide on Edison’s re-start plan this Spring. The NRC has promised at least one more public “meeting,” which does not rise to the standard of an official hearing.

After a year of shut-down we know there’s no real need for these reactors. Edison knew it was installing faulty generators. But it wants ratepayers to foot the $765 million bill for their.

Meanwhile, a rodent (that’s NOT a typo) ate through a cable at Fukushima and cut off power to spent fuel pools that could release radioactive clouds far worse than Hiroshima and Nagasaki. An official study reveals more than 40,000—FORTY THOUSAND!— cases of thyroid abnormalities among children near Fukushima.

Yet we now have the power to get to Solartopia—a world built on renewables and efficiency—starting right here in sunny southern California.
At this gathering, each of us will have the chance to decide what we can do to help bring us all to a green-powered Earth.

In Remembrance of Bito

Bito, was a inspiration to me. I am very, very sad to hear of his passing.
BitoHistory, could have been called Treasure Trove of History and Knowledge because he was always quick with facts, figures, charts, studies, maps, you know, “links”.
He was a champion for a truth that you could easily recognize, I really admired that.

Although I had been a Planet regular, things changed for me after Fukushima, as I live 5 miles downwind of the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant.
I had to turn away from much of the national dialog and focus in on the serious local safety issues at San Onofre. Bito understood this with out a detailed explanation from me and he really helped our local issues by “re-tweeting” out my sometimes desperate “tweets” of “please sign this petition” or “please write Governor Brown”, action items or other important news. I know that made a difference and has helped protect our safety in Southern California.

I will remember Bito for his genuine good nature and fine example of “how to win an argument” he so generously displayed here and years back at HuffPo. Of course his humor was always a bonus when a spontaneous game of make believe broke out here at the Planet. You could make a broadcast radio show out of the running Buffy and Biffy bit (I hope I remembered that correctly Kes).

Bito, If you can read this and somehow I think you can… Thank You, thank you so much for showing us all a fine example how to conduct ourselves and fight for the truth and social justice with a quality winning debate.
Thank you for the friendship I will miss that very much.

Please everyone, we should all try to honor Bito by getting involved in both local and national issues and always work to GOTV!
