ProjectPOV: Brainstorming

Made me want to take
that bridge to nowhere ……

» Posted By PatsyT On January 13, 2010 @ 8:43 pm

Thats perfect!

» Posted By PatsyT On January 13, 2010 @ 8:40 pm

Say, where is all the great comedy and satire
from the right about the left?
What are their ‘comedy’ shows? :~}}

» Posted By PatsyT On January 13, 2010 @ 10:22 am

Yeah you found it!
There was a comment on this that
{ the job loses (the bars) under Bush should appear in RED
and the under Obama BLUE.}
Good Idea!
That would make it easy for those who have a hard time digesting this stuff.
That should be televised !
Should we write to Rachel and friends ??

» Posted By PatsyT On January 13, 2010 @ 9:26 am

That Rachel piece really made an excellent argument on why we should look at the glass, not just half full, but more like three quarters or more full.
So glad that you all are seeing this.
Sometimes you can really feel like aliens have taken over what should be the most fair and just coverage.

That bikini graph was great- but where can it be found ? ! ? !

Of course we can find Palin all over the place….

Nellie,
So glad that you and so many others are thinking along this way.
Very well put together!
I often have MSNBC on at home during the day while doing house stuff, making dinner and such.
I know it is sometimes lightweight info but they still call out their share of BS.
My DVR helps if someone is coming up that I want to catch say, Congressmen Weiner.

What would you think of a MSNBC watch?
One example….
Whats up with Dylan Ratigan?
Yesterday and today I noticed that the new Dylan Ratigan Show is rather fluffy,
not as much substance as his morning show ….
Is it just me? or is there more fluff on MSNBC as of late all over?
and what happened to the real reason that he left CNBC? If that was the real reason.
http://www.businessinsider.com/henry-blodget-dylan-ratigan-speaks-and-hes-angry-2009-4

He went off on Debbie Wasserman Schultz in December.
http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/12/msnbcs-ratigan-yells-at-congresswoman-video.php

That was just rude. Save that for Liz Cheney or someone like that.

and then he apologizes

http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/12/ratigan-apologizes-for-wasserman-schultz-incident.php

Creating buzz perhaps?

Dylan Ratigan has the ability to talk the financial stuff -Is this how they are going to use him?

and had the responsibility of governing.

N.J. Senate Denies Marriage Equality

Today in California this came form the Courage Campaign……

Chief Judge Vaughn Walker is holding a hearing on whether a pool television camera should be allowed to film the federal Prop 8 trial, given the unprecedented interest in the proceedings. Judge Walker is encouraging the public to submit comments on the issue by Friday. Join more than 100,000 people who have signed the letter to Judge Walker from the Courage Campaign Institute and CREDO Action and we

California was Dreaming

KQ
Microwave family – HA!
That would come from a scientist!
My Dad was an engineer
I think the science crowd must be a little more entertaining then the engineers.

Also Nellie,
I do not find fault with the UC’s but with their management and mostly this state that has been cutting their much needed and deserved funding.

» Posted By PatsyT On January 6, 2010 @ 10:47 pm

tb9- You have been in the trenches, you know what I’m talking about.
I have seen those detached parents they can be creepy.
I found that my friends and I that put time into volunteering all seem to have children that were more involved in the learning process. Our kids found each other on the playground even if they were not in class together. They wound up in the gifted classes and
are still friends today. The families & Kids that volunteer together, in this case, stay together.

» Posted By PatsyT On January 6, 2010 @ 10:44 pm

Even more Cool!
That gives you the warm fuzzies all over.
Very inspirational!

» Posted By PatsyT On January 6, 2010 @ 10:31 pm

Nellie,
Yes, The UC system is prevailing amidst the budget shortfalls.
My oldest daughter has friends at Berkeley that can’t get into some of the classes they need
until next year, maybe. They love it but she tells me the trend this year is for the seniors from her high school to apply to privates out of state. The UC’s are looking for out of state because they can charge more. In years past the UC’s were always in the mix of the local high school seniors, this year, not so much.
How can we keep this R minority from mucking things up?
Dems in the Majority have got to toughen up.

» Posted By PatsyT On January 6, 2010 @ 10:24 pm

So cool KQ,
They would be lucky to have you as their mentor.
Teach for America, Maybe?

I like how Obama spoke of Singapore and how they have no problem
recruiting quality teachers because they pay on the same scale as doctors and lawyers.
Imagine if we even did even a bit of that.

bitohistory, this was in response to your comment below.

I would be curious how other states are handling education
It seems that at the heart of this is the desire of the
CA repubs to bust up the Teachers union.

For CA
State Senate
25 Dems
14 Reps
1 Vacancy

State Assembly
80 Dems
28 Reps

» Posted By PatsyT On January 6, 2010 @ 9:52 pm

Coming from you KQ, I am honored.
I have sat with three different excellent teachers and hugged
them while they cried about being let go,
then of course, I start crying, one was a single mom, what a mess.

On a brighter note- did you catch this?
Obama today at the White House –
Robots!
Educate to Innovate
STEM Science Technology engineering and mathematics
Now if we can get that pesky repub minority to sit down and shut up.
We might get something done for Education.

Senate seats in play

This is fantastic,
The repubs can not win by repeating garbage over and over.
Where are their big ideas?
How do they solve these serious issues?
I do not believe the doomy and gloomy types that are warning of big dem loses.
But maybe that can be some motivation
The key is getting those on the side lines to see the reason to get Fired Up.
I like what KQ has stated below

~How can giving the GOP more power posibly make things better ?~

That should be going as a response to all of those that go on with the
—-Obama has not delivered—- Waa Waa
Oh, grow up
I say
and vote!

Love all that color !

You have gone on one of the most difficult journeys a human can attempt.
Good for you and even better that you can express yourself about these things with words and art.

100 years of a national park done right

Pepe,
Loved this post.
I have a book on my book shelf that I have not opened in over ten years.
-The Outdoor Traveler’s Guide- Canada
It has had one bookmark in it, all this time,
on the page –
Waterton Lakes National Park.
I had a burning desire to see this part of the world and
hope to get there someday.
Very cool to hear about this again.
I got interested in this area after seeing the film “The Shining”
Although the Overlook Hotel was fictional
I wanted to see places like it and that led me to to reading about Waterton.
