Finally, A Plan I Can Live With

So, here’s my question:

The Senate votes out a bill w/o PO, the House has a bill w/ PO.

What happens in reconciliation?

Historian says Iraq “democracy” doomed to failure

Why did Bush, or why did BushCo?

How about this: To run up such a huge debt that they could force the decimation of social programs?

Or just naked profit.

Perpetual war is good for the bottom line. Shit, were they pissed at the Ruskies for caving in.

At risk of being lambasted, there are people out there who honestly believe that removing Saddam was an imperative and that installing democracy was a duty.

People of good faith.

That said, you would be perfectly correct that without the hysteria of WMDs, the American people would never have endorsed the invasion.

Had the argument for invasion had been purely that Saddam was a monster and that the people of Iraq would be better off without him, America would have responded “Tough fucking luck for them”.

The Billionaires Behind The Hate

I got one word for you:

Plutocrats.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck ’em.

You will need to repeal the first amendment.

The first. Not a winner of an idea.

Here is a Heartbreaking and Heartwarming Story by Mike Barnicle This Morning

Nope, no socks for me!

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 9, 2009 @ 5:57 pm

Ah! OK, next time I’ll try to do all that.

Sheese. Complicated.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 9, 2009 @ 11:09 am

Well, as I say, I can get them into the article, but not onto the front page.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 9, 2009 @ 11:07 am

As you know, I have tried repeatedly to follow those directions, I seem to manage to get them into the body of my post, but it never aprears on the front page with the title/synopsis.

But then I have never claimed to be skilled at this stuff.

Feedup,

I empathize about the tech issue of inserting a graphic, I have yet to manage it.

Are you “feedup” over at Huff? Because I am “justplainfedup”. I just wanted to go on the record to say that we are two different people.

Oh, and next time, if you could please pen a few sentences about whatever it is that you want to comment on, we would appreciate it. Please go to the FAQ at the top of the page for more details.

Welcome aboard.

INCREMENATALISM: Grown Up or Beaten Down?

Please, don’t get any better. I will lose the will to write my own.

Fink.

Cher,

Thank you very much for this. Excellent. So good I need to read it again to comment on it competently. But I gotta say, two, three more articles like this and the planet can truly be said to have arrived.

I was cringing as I first read the title. I feared more of this “Obama promised me a pony, and I did not get it!” Lots of people seemed to think that Obama was going to COMMAND the world to rotate in the opposite direction or something.

I have lost track of the actual number, but it seems to me that the Rethugs in the Senate during the ’30s numbered like, what, nothing. So FDR had a mess of progressive Dems and Racist Dems to get his policies passed.

Strangely enough, Social Security was originally designed such that brown people need have no expectation of ever getting it.

Sort of like the current HCR trembling on the verge of denying abortion funding in a Govt sanctioned plan. We will get half of half of half of a loaf, but that is more than what the Clintons got us, so it is not all bad.

And we stand a decent chance of gaining seats in the Senate next year, could be six or eight, with luck.

Then we can amend.

Now I gotta go read your excellent post again. The NYTimes would be proud to include material of this quality. Dog knows I am. Thanks and well done.

Educating the Masters

Why is this not on the front page?

Did you fail to choose the correct tags?

An Open Letter to Arianna, With Deep Sincerity

Google is where I’m at. Business sucks, and I am not spending money on squat.

I’ll look it up.

You do understand the distinction between atheist and antitheist, yes?

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 9, 2009 @ 10:01 am

I’m not thinking that confronting tolls matters any further than that it amuses me.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 9, 2009 @ 9:36 am

How to bamboozle people for fun and profit. Including how to climb to the top while shoving your co-workers down into the quicksand.

My program had just prior to my starting in launched an overriding curriculum of business ethics. Almost a perfect fraud.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 9, 2009 @ 9:31 am

I suppose it is a problem. But more to the point it is a fact. Bugger Huff. Go there, don’t go there. They will continue to fly under the cover of progressive politics while scamming people and selling ads.

I have an MBA as well, and have low regard for the profession. I wish I had studied the law instead. Now there is a profession you can admire.

Those who have the courage of their convictions have naught to fear.

Thank you.

Nellie, As ever, yours is the voice of reason.

Although anti-theism is not a religion; I don’t care what you say!

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 9, 2009 @ 9:24 am

Monk,

Just a quick and slightly lazy scan of your letter, my critique would include at least:

Hairyanna no longer owns the site. She is just a tool for it, and it for her. It’s a pay check.

Yellow Journalism has long been their stock in trade. For as long as I was there, and I think I have been there as long as any here. I still remember AdLib faking me out with sarcastic criticisms of Obama. I had been there a few years before that.

The moderation came in after O’Liely cited some Bush hating comments (what’s not to hate?) that compromised in Hairyanna’s mind her ever expanding pundit-hood. Anything that stands between her and a TV camera is at grave peril.

The purpose of Huff is not to reflect the aspirations of progressives, nor is it a site where liberals are welcome to comment.

The purpose of Huff is to make money. That is it. Their business model is working just freaking fine. As I said to peacekitten when she came here to announce her banishment: their business model does not have room for you or me.

A warning about trolls

This is not the route to separating the planet from Huff, which I personally would like to see happen.

Point of fact, I would dare say that all the four of us would like to see the planet not be the anti-huff site, but rather a site that stands on its own.

If a troll comes over from Huff and makes a pain of him or her self, it will be dealt with in short order.

I’ll say it again: to react out of proportion to their presence is to capitulate to them.

We have a policy, we are going to enforce it. I really think you will be fine.

And I for one would utterly cringe at the presence of AC, lord I detest that disingenuous attention hog. But I can ignore her.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 9, 2009 @ 11:17 pm

You don’t flatter Rami by lumping him in with Flossy or AC, neither of whom I would welcome here. I detest both of them.

Rami can be a flaming pain in the ass, but he will be civil here, I am nearly sure.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 9, 2009 @ 5:40 pm

Kalima is not kidding y’all.

And I think that the rules make perfect sense. As I wrote elsewhere, if people want to boycott the planet until a particular blogger or other leaves, they have capitulated to that blogger.

If someone wants a length of rope, let them have it. If they fashion a noose out of it, it will only go around their neck.

Dread naught. Have sufficient self-confidence to allow a troll to be a troll. Don’t cry. We will deal with him as needed.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 9, 2009 @ 5:31 pm

Thanks. I got all the friends I can keep up with.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 9, 2009 @ 2:31 pm

Hey, lead me to the comments they were referencing. Then I can judge for myself.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 9, 2009 @ 1:43 pm

Dude,

Apparently, they don’t like you. Which is their perfect right. You will not be banned just because other posters here don’t like you.

Now, have you anything that you actually want to talk about besides how other people here respond to you?

And frankly, speaking just for me, I’d be glad if you dropped the topic of Huff just now. I would count that a personal favor. This is not the anti-huff. This is a discussion board with its own purpose and mission.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 9, 2009 @ 1:12 pm

Look to step four of the instructions.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 9, 2009 @ 1:02 pm

Brother, you can flame me any fucking time you want, and right here, I don’t mind.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 9, 2009 @ 1:00 pm

OK. I think we have heard enough about how you people don’t like each other. We get the message.

You got something you want to talk about, besides your frictions with other people who post here?
