A Blogging Memo to Members

Doo doo head!

Whither Guantanamo?

Nobody said being president was an easy job.

Pity the BushCo thugs could not be troubled to treat the criminals that they arrested like criminals that they hoped to prosecute.

When To Give Terrorists What They Want And When Not To

I’ve seen video of Stephen Fry and Christoper Hitchens discussing this nonsense.

What utter bullshit this is. Most Islamic countries are quite moderate. This Shia law crap represents the more extremist end of the religion. It is as if Robertson and Fallwell had been permitted to set up a parallel legal system and a tax funded school system.

The ugly part? Once that damned camel gets its nose in the tent, you will have a hell of a time getting him out.

A lesson for Americans: tolerate absolutely NO lowering of the wall between church and state.

The Miracle

Wow. I cannot say how happy I am for you. However, while I has thinking good thoughts, I would not care to claim any credit.

I hope you and your Sis get together soon and have some quality time together.

I just learned today that a high school kid two doors north of me died in some sort of car wreck two days before Xmas.

My wife’s hair dresser is the mother of one of this kid’s good friends. That is how it came back to us.

We are none of us promised much of anything. Except back pain, if we live that long, I suppose.

Huffington Post AKA It’s All Obama’s Fault: This Week’s Meme Obama Weak on Terror

On who’s part?

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 29, 2009 @ 5:26 pm

I am by no means sure that any big mistakes were made.

The evidence that I have seen does not necessarily take us there.

We have a whole ocean of information on terrorists. We would be lucky to review a bucketful of it.

As soon as we start profiling for brown Muslims, the terrorists will recruit Scandinavians.

Or Russians.

Does anyone think that they will have no success?

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 29, 2009 @ 12:03 pm

Yeah. I need that flea mop in my back yard.

Greenwald is OK by me, although I get exhasted following him.

I need to read Klein. Alternet, I’ll take a pass.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 29, 2009 @ 11:44 am

Yeah. And I need a goddam pony.

Anybody who has been following my comments for the last few years knows that I have very little regard for either of the Clintons.

I think that the two of them did substantial harm to my party. Bill especially.

Why he could not control his zipper is beyond me. Why could he not make an accommodation with some 40 year old Georgetown Socialite? Somebody prepared to be discrete, and who, if her relationship came out, would not cause people to think “uhg! Cradle robber!!!”?

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 29, 2009 @ 11:23 am

The thugs are deliberately obstructing everything that they possibly can.

Bipartisanship, my hairy ass.

What adult, in his right mind, can believe, with all the passenger flights across the world, that no terrorist will ever again board an airplane?

One can always say that the admin did not do enough. No admin has ever done enough about anything.

But compare that to BushCo’s reaction to the Aug 6 PDB.

The gulf between doing NOTHING and and not doing enough is absolute.

Have you forgotten 2000?

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 29, 2009 @ 11:09 am

I know for a fact that much of the vitriol that I see is coming from assorted PUMAs and Puritans who never accepted Obama’s nomination. Jane Hamster is a fine example.

It is hard to recall the vehemence against Obama from the left during the primary. As if somehow Hillary was more purely liberal.

Really.

Gingrich: In 2010 the GOP Will Run on Repealing HCR

I’d pay a dollar to see them try it.

The GOP is Poised for Possible Gains in 2010

I agree about the Aug break.

Why do Dems seem never to anticipate just how dishonest the thugs are prepared to be?

Rashomon 4: Ten views of Christmas Day airplane terror

“becoming”?

HP has been a yellow journalism swamp from day one.

Hockey, eh?

I think we need to make the food section recognize the weekend.

A day before, say Thursday, to talk about what one might cook, and then on Sunday or Monday, what one did cook.

My sister sent me a very good cookbook on Portuguese cooking. I am several recipes into it. I like it.

I’ve been banging the drum pretty steadily of late.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 29, 2009 @ 8:39 pm

I get it.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 29, 2009 @ 8:22 pm

Welcome aboard.

Regarding Obama, I don’t know what you expected that you did not get.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 29, 2009 @ 11:03 am

Cooking is next to Godliness.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 28, 2009 @ 5:05 pm

Oh, I have no objection to some levity.

But the day this becomes a blog for swapping kitty pictures is the day I leave.

Not that I think that that is going to happen.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 28, 2009 @ 9:38 am

Constipated.

» Posted By KevenSeven On December 28, 2009 @ 12:05 am

Well. Obviously, fair play dictates that I not nominate any of MY posts.

But if I don’t win, I will just throw myself on the floor and cry. So keep that in mind as you vote.

Meanwhile, I would like to echo what AdLib said about the four of us being pleased as punch with how AdLib’s project has evolved, and I thank all of you for making a largely serious effort to move us forward.

I could live with a little less of the “how are you?” “fine, and you?” stuff, but I have seen much, much worse.

Me? I would like to see this remain a fairly serious blog. You know that I don’t mind the occasional sharp elbow, especially when a weak point is made. I like to think of this as the training ground where one prepares for battle against the reactionaries in your real life. You cannot expect to best them if you have no taste for conflict.

But I appreciate that some people would as soon have no more acid reflux than can be absolutely avoided. That makes sense. Hell, some people hope to live a long time. Crazy, eh?

Thanks again for all of your participation. I am pleased as punch to be a part of it. I gotta gin up a new column soon, dammit.
