BullyProgs – Tea Party Tactics by Progressives Kill Single Payer in CA

You say it so well. I agree, Democracy can be a bitch. I’ve got a feeling you’ll find a way to make it happen. You can do it.

I agree. I sometimes think it’s more about “me” rather than what is in the best interest of all of us. It’s the Id over Ego perhaps?

Weekend Music Thread – A Tribute to Martin Luther King Jr.

Sally T…I doubt you’re much older than me but I try to keep telling myself I’m not SO old :-)!
My husband is a couple of years older than me but he thinks he’s a cute youngish guy and it rubs off. Men were born with the “I’m great” gene…why didn’t we women get that in the abundance they have? Have a nice evening!

You know Rush Limbaugh hails from MO and at one time Jerry Falwell preached there. I’m not sure I would have agreed with much he was preaching! Just sayin’! I think Missouri is a wonderful state with many, many wonderful people but they do have a history. I’d like to think that much has changed in the years since I’ve left there. I know and love people that still live there who get it but there are still those who don’t.
Trying to get Democrats elected there is most difficult especially in Southwest MO.
I’d better get back to the Bronco game…no matter how awful it is!

You’re welcome, you guys are great and I love the music threads. I listen to them a lot.

I’d like to thank my Mom for raising us to value people…all people. I was raised in Southern Missouri by a woman from West Virgina and a father from the Ozarks. I’m not ancient but I’m not a kid so the odds were high that we would hold some backwards ideas on race. We didn’t and we don’t.

My Mom is with me in spirit only but I hope she knows somehow how grateful I am for her open mind and sensitive soul…So I thank you Mom in honor of Martin Luther King Day!

PS: I love that Bruce Springsteen cut!

The Daily Planet, Vol. 156

Thank you funksands…I enjoy your comments as well. I remember when I was nice but being over there has created a snark monster in me! I remember something my Mom said…be careful who you hang around with. I think I get what she meant now 🙂

I promise I’ll visit more…it’s always interesting here.

» Posted By GirlOutWest On October 24, 2011 @ 4:32 pm

Just wanted to say that every time I visit Planet POV I ask myself why I don’t visit daily. I’m going to try harder because you have a wonderful site and interesting points of views 🙂 and technically it’s really improved…moves fast which is the main reason I believe that people go to HP so much.
Keep up the great work and I’ll be dropping by more often.

Pillow Talk

Oddly interesting. Get some rest. 🙂

Outrage Manufacturing, Inc.

I think you are correct…the TP and the Purists will probably cancel each other out but I want all of us Democrats to be proud and strong and supportive of our candidates and each other. Hope springs eternal!

Best blog I’ve read for a long time! I find the “Concern Trolls” annoying and so obviously fake that while it makes me angry it also makes me laugh. “I voted for Obama but I’ll never do that again” remark is so silly and obvious.

It is the “Purists” that make me outraged. They say they’re Democrats but IF they are, they are the worst kind of Democrat. They are weak kneed and undisciplined with a large sprinkling of childishness. They throw our ideals and the Democratic Party under the bus by either not voting or voting for a candidate with no chance of winning. How do they expect to get a stronger majority, by which governing is easier and our values have a chance to become effective, when they allow Republicans and Tea Party candidates to win?

I guess the “Purists” showed us…

Remarks by the President in Address to the Nation on Libya

I used to take The Nation magazine but they got a bit too extreme for me.

Maybe Some People Need to Seriously Think about Going to Church

May I use a term often found at another site…FANNED! I was astounded by the love fest for Assange and I continue to be shocked at the animosity many lefties hold for the President. I will say I believe some are fake lefties but most are real and unnecessarily hostile and short on patience. I know that more positive moves have been made by this WH than any other in decades and I’m baffled that so many don’t see that. Assange…he’s just plain weird and possibly dangerous.

No Vote, No Voice

I have to say that ever since KO went off on the President I have not watched him. I’m afraid the lefty side of politics is filled with demanding, and childish people by half at least. They’re answer is to berate the leader of the country and their political party and they do it publicly almost assuring us of a Republican President for years to come.

Time Out for OT – Vol 9

I too thought Hume’s comments were some of the best I’ve read online. My hope is that his family and friends know how many people respected his opinion and were influenced by him. Sad.

Time Out for O/T — Vol. 12

I agree. A while back I realized I’m just a Democrat, not a Progressive, although Progressives seem to carry the conversation now. I often, but not always, disagree with them and I believe they think government moves faster than it does. I really don’t want to see Democrats give up or break up and in essence hand the next election over to the Republicans.

My Neighbor Asked Me If I Watch Glenn Beck

Totally!

I don’t know if it’s accurate but on the CBS Sunday Morning show they said 87,000. Still a bunch of crazy but better.

Mid-Atlantic Trip Part 4: Gettysburg

I just want to say how much I have enjoyed the pictures and tales from back East. The civil war is fascinating…sad but so interesting at the same time. I’ve loved your pictures from the Capital and that whole area. I’m sorry to say that I’ve never been to that part of the country except to visit relatives in WV which is lovely in it’s own right but what a shame to be so close to the Capital and not get there. I will make there sometime of that I’m sure.
Thank you again.

Morning Blog-7-3-10

This video brought tears to my eyes. Wonderful.

I support my President!

I’ve still “got Obama’s back”. Really, I wanted an intelligent, honest, worldly and thoughtful President and I got one. I sometimes wonder if he’d like to “pull a Palin” but I know I can count on him to do the best job he can and to be there for us all. Most certainly he isn’t perfect but when I think of any other alternative I shudder.
President Obama is the President I voted for and he’s doing a fine job. GoUSA!!!!!!!!!
Oops gotta go SOTU….

ESPN Radio

Tiger99 that was beautifully written. On two occasions I have heard people I know and care about use the “N” word and it shocks the heck out of me. When it has happened I did mention it but I have to say both times the people in question had a buzz on. I know that is no excuse because obviously the thought is in their heads, but maybe they hide it from themselves so well it comes out when they are uninhibited and a little out of control.

She Said What?!?

You know, I never really loved it but my husband grew up in the Lutheran Church so I’ve gone because he wanted to. I have volunteered there (Habitat) hoping to get to know them better but it didn’t pan out. I just don’t think we connected. There is a Church of Religious Science I thought I might try…hubby, probably not! We’ll see but I know I won’t go there.
Again, not the same as Boomer, but I wish her well in this sticky situation.

Thank you so much. I’ve been looking through the site…it’s very interesting and some of the people I enjoyed from HP are here. Nice.
I think some of the “snark” from HP was rubbing off on me so it seems a wise move to distance myself for a while.

» Posted By GirlOutWest On January 20, 2010 @ 4:26 pm

Thank you and I know I’ll enjoy it here. It’s been lonely for me at some of the other sites.

» Posted By GirlOutWest On January 20, 2010 @ 3:56 pm

This is not at all the same situation but at our Church every 4th of July the Pastor would ask that we all pray for the President. We made a point of going on the Sunday of the 4th of July celebration this year to see if he asked us to pray for the President. Surprise, he did not. Instead it was about the Isrealites taking to the streets. My husband practically had to restrain me. We have not been back but I feel guilty for not calling the Pastor about this.
I know it’s not the same because the job and a friendship may be at stake but I’m certain there was either politics or racism involved in his choice of sermons.
