Americans United

What about:

David vs. Golieth?

Main Street vs. Multinationals?

1.) “American Voices United Against the Tyranny of the Corporate Monoliths” = AVUATCM

2.) “American Voices United” = AVU

3.) “American Voters Voices United” = AVVU

4.) “I want my pony NOW” = IWMPN

Edit:

5.) “Main Street Voters” = MSV

6.) “Main Streets Voices” = MSV

7.) “Middle Class Voters United” – MCVU

Just brainstorming here….I know, getting silly, need to eat something….

I still like….

“F**K the Corporations and the Pony they Road in On

Too long? Not catchy enough?

I have some issues with:

#2.) Health Care Reform

– Regulate Insurance Company Profits – Too socialist, will never get off the ground, will alienate a good portion of people to cause. Need to be a little more mainstream for draw of average voter.

– Stopping Insurance Companies from Arbitrarily Raising their Rates – Very similar to above, but could be accomplished like utility commissions. Again leans towards socialism.

#3.) Social Security

I would just ask for an increase of salary cap, goes for Medicare also, removal would be too drastic. Chamber of Commerce would be up in arms, but that may be a good thing to show where their loyalties are.

#4.) Education

– Increase funding, with emphasis on Math and Science
– Funding for Trade Schools – Plumbing, Electrical, Automotive, Carpentry, Computer Techs and last but not least Green Jobs.

I think all of us will believe in this movement, but there are so many out there with similar stances as ours would be.

We will have to investigate what our competition, for contributions and members would be, can we incorporate their movement with ours or work together for common causes.

As for the website issue, any movement that takes donations will have to register as a 503(c) or 504(c), not sure which one, and you might have to have a separate site. Adlib or someone else here might know that answer. But I noticed that Firedoglake has a action committee within their site for causes they are working on.

Need to get going, will check back later on developments….

Facebook and Youtube seem to be the thing these days….don’t ask me how you do it, not on Facebook, but it seems to work for Sister Sarah when she decides to pontificate her words of wisdom to the world!

» Posted By BigDogMom On February 11, 2010 @ 9:26 am

Morning bito, we have a number a very good writers here and could pick up more professional writers as the movement picks up stream.

» Posted By BigDogMom On February 11, 2010 @ 9:13 am

javaz, just went to the website you listed and found this movement marketing group under the comments section, may want to look into this:

http://www.changethis.com/60.03.BrainsOnFire

On the name “Americans United”, it’s very simular to “Americans United for Change”

javaz, love this idea, I’m in. For months now I have been feeling so frustrated that the average middle class voter’s voices are not heard and was wondering what we can do about it.

Just got e-mail from the Obama campaign headquarters about volunteering on the up coming elections, volunteered for 8 hrs. per week….If we can hook up with this website and moveon.org it would be wonderful.

Also, get MSNBC involved, Keith, Rachel and Ed, Ed was just here in CT for the most recent Free Health Care Clinic in Hartford.

My thoughts on concentration would be strong campaign finance legislation, which gets the corporations out of the pockets of our politicians and strengthens our voting voice.

This I think is crucial, a majority of Americans are complaining that Congress is corrupt. You see it in every comment section on almost every blog, political or non-political. It hits are the heart of our problems, corporations have more say than we do.

The rest of the list then should follow, all are important for real change.

We need to stop the MSM from focusing on the Right and T-Baggers misinformation, keep calling them out on their lies and I think a movement like this would help.

Vox Populi – AfterChat – 2-5-2010

Nite kes, I’m off now too, Nite Patsy, Nite Adlib, Nite John Boy, Nite e’cat, Nite Mary Ellen, Nite all!!!!

kes, you did not need to remind all of us of that image….eeewwwweee GROSS!!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Good thing my husband is good looking and great to snuggle with on cold nights like tonight…that should wipe away that image real fast! ๐Ÿ˜†

» Posted By BigDogMom On February 5, 2010 @ 10:12 pm

Patsy, your not alone, there are a great number of political bloggers out there that feel the same as you, myself for one.
Does keep ones mind sharp, but I still do my crossword puzzles!

Lately, I have seen more an more political blogs pop up, small ones like ours and if you read the main ones like daily kos and think progress, there seems to be much more posters than in the past.

People are upset and want to talk about it and sometimes they have no one that they can talk to at home.

» Posted By BigDogMom On February 5, 2010 @ 9:59 pm

I heard tonight, before falling asleep on the couch, that there were only 600 in attendence at the Tea Party Conference today, they wont even break even at that rate.

Maybe tomorrow night will be better for them, what with the princess speaking and all…hope they lose money on the thing.

Where’s our Mr. Bopp?

Wow, what happened to the freedom of information act?

See my link up above to see who this guy is connected to….someone is financing him and it’s the Christian Fundies who have very deep pockets.

» Posted By BigDogMom On January 30, 2010 @ 11:25 am

Thanks nellie, this guy is a one man recking ball to our voting rights…is there any way to stop him?

And, who is financing him?

Edit: Just answered my second question:

President Obama Confronts the GOP Head On

No your not alone, this was good day in politics for me. ๐Ÿ™‚

I feel that no matter what the Republicans say on what took place today, their spin is going to look like, well like, just spin, with no substance behind it.

It’s all on the record now and be pulled out when needed…
