Time Out for O/T – Vol. 15

I do believe that’d be much more satisfying than hanging around at HP where a bunch of wing-nuts believe that they and they alone have the right to live on this planet.

Evening KQ,

This is just too good to NOT post:

AND THAT’s because most Americans have heard that critical thinking is overrated… and they believed it.

To the deniers of man-made global warming and for those who espouse that the theory of relativity is some socialist plot:

Facts still exist even if they’re ignored.

Hi, Cher!

I haven’t meant to ignore you, but the threads jump about and sometimes I can’t respond to a particular comment.

Even so, it’s BILLIONS of times preferable to the useless site of many a brain-dead troll.

(with apologies to the brain-dead who are NOT trolls.)

Are they in the Qur’an?

…that would throw the Tea Partiers over the edge.

They’ll be suspecting the letters Q, K, and the hard C of being in alliance with Alqaida.

This message brought to TEA PARTIERS by the letters F and U.

…oh…

and the number:

this message was in response to Questinia’s post:

“Doh! I was looking for Qumkuats.”

😉

» Posted By AuntieChrist On February 9, 2011 @ 6:30 pm

True.

…and I could tolerate them.

» Posted By AuntieChrist On February 9, 2011 @ 6:26 pm

What… no Kumquats?

» Posted By AuntieChrist On February 9, 2011 @ 6:25 pm

Aryana sold her soul (made of ice… thus she has always been regarded as an ice soul) eons ago.

Any time I hear her voice the theme song for Green Acres starts playing somewhere.

Yes, Q… did you bring snakes?

Oh… snacks?

Never mind.

They’re an infuriating lot.

Hi, Abby.

For the enjoyment of all you great people of the Planet:

The party of *cough* “Family Values”… yeah… right…. in their continuing farce of hypocrisy presents for you enjoyment:

Rep. Christopher Lee, a married Republican congressman whose fetishes are deception (nothing unusual there for a Republican) and sending photos of himself to younger women in order to score (highly unusual there: in that they usually send them to other men.)

Time Out for O/T – Vol. 2

Just stopped by to say hi and share this…

I almost choked when I saw it.

The Brits must still be laughing their asses off after Charlie Brooker filed this report. I have no doubt that it’s his warning for his own country to not fall the way of America’s fourth estate… In that ours is history.

Well done, Charlie.

Adlib, Dr. Suits was wickedly great — you have mad talent.

Such a creative group here. The people over at the HalfwittedPast are missing out.

Time Out for OT – Vol 11

Socialsim!
MARXIST!
COMMIE!!!

Some things never change.

In reading a book by historian Philip Dray, I was struck by the story of Alice Hamilton.

These are some of the things we know about this unsung heroine:

At the dawn of the 20th century, Alice Hamilton, a bacteriologist, published the first article in America on diseases caused by industrial neglect.

Her article called to attention the problems caused by such compounds as lead, arsenic, mercury, and other dangerous components of manufacture that were not regulated.

After doing her research she said, “When I talked to my medical friends about the strange silence on this subject in American medical magazines and textbooks, I gained the impression that here was a subject tainted with Socialism or with feminine sentimentality for the poor.”

She was instrumental in getting many of the regulations enacted which saved countless lives. She went on to become the first woman appointed to the faculty of Harvard University.

But… even back then, when a person would question corporate authority, the press would claim that they were “radicals” or “agitators”

Some things never change.

You said ‘poop’

…But seriously, it’s unbelievable that so many Tea Baggers STILL refuse to see that they’ll always be the party of Atwater and Rovian politics, and funded by those who most loathe them.

Lambs to the slaughter.

These chikenshits think they’re bad-ass because they recite the second amendment as if it’s a god given right.

Tho’ even if it is…
If push comes to shove:
They’d best remember that right extends to all of us.

I’ll have to watch that when they upload it to the iTunes store.

God forbid that a bunch of empty headed pundits should take time to listen for even a minute to a Nobel prize wining economist regarding a field in which he’s more than qualified to speak:

Time Out for OT – Vol 3

That’s gotta hurt.
Cyrus was so admired by the people he ruled. He allowed people to worship the way they wanted to and even some Jews thought that was the messiah.

Imagine, a Persian (read: Iranian) king freeing the Jews from the yoke of slavery from their one-time Babylonian masters.

How come Iranians are so bad again?

Weren’t modern day Iranians inspired by the idea of democracy and write their own constitution?
Didn’t they have an election in which they chose someone who was friendly towards the United States but not towards the empire building of Great Britain in the mid twentieth century?
When Eisenhower became President, didn’t he give approval to the CIA to overthrow that democratically elected Prime Minister?

Didn’t they replace him with a brutal thug of a shah?
Isn’t that what the Iranian hostage crisis was all about when they finally overthrew him?

…of course the cost was the radicalization of their clerics over the years.

Doesn’t the media ever talk about any of these root causes?

my gawd… that alone would be news.
