With all of the hoopla surrounding the films screened in the Obama White House, I got curious about what the past presidents watched. What follows is by no means complete, but an interesting bit of history.
Cuba and the US have had a long history of adversarial relations. Yet we have diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Cuba didn't kill 50,000 Americans, but we have ostracized Cuba! Why? Why have we not done what President Obama has just done long ago?
In the end, no one can maintain their power because of the inverse property of power, every action creates an equal and opposite reaction. And that is our eternal job as the majority of human beings on this planet, to be that equal and opposite reaction to those who accumulate power and use it to gratify themselves at the expense of the lives and well being of others.
Republicans have every right to claim that the election was a statement of support for them and a rejection of Obama...the Supreme Court has already ruled that lying is protected under the 1st Amendment and all that Republicans are trying to do is strengthen the 1st Amendment.
We shall see what decision was reached and what the reaction is. Your thoughts and comments are invited and welcome here, before, during and after the decision is announced.
Many veterans are injured either physically or emotionally or by some illness brought on by (in my case) Agent Orange. We all carry memories that we wish we never had to.
It is not only the college students who don't know history but many of our Congressmen/women and Governors (former half term comes to mind, you know she could see Russia from her back porch.).
Too many Americans have become "dumb" voters, they vote on little more than emotion. They feel upset at DC so they knee jerk vote for the party that doesn't control the White House...even though it is the party they're voting for that has caused the problems that led to their being upset.
Has this ever worked? Have Democrats ever succeeded as a party by agreeing with Republicans, "I suppose you're right, The President from our party IS a dick!"? If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, the Democratic Party may need to hold its next convention in Arkham Asylum.
If only on that dark day in Dallas, Secret Service Agent Steven Wilder, who was said to be easily distracted, hadn't misunderstood and thought he had been ordered to secure a book suppository.
