This long-awaited day has finally come, The House Committee investigating the 1/6 attack on The Capitol to prevent and overthrow the 2020 presidential election results and democracy overall, is presenting their first public hearing tonight at 5:00 pm PDT.
PlanetPOV will be hosting a live chat during the entire hearing for a real time commentary by our members as it proceeds and we’re opening the chat at 4:30 pm PDT to chat in the runup to the start of the hearing. You can watch the hearing on any network channel or cable news station except Fox News of course (consciousness of guilt?) and you can stream it on a number of platforms including the same network tv and cable news sites as well as C-SPAN.

This is clearly a historic and incredibly important pulling back of the curtain on the planning and execution of an attempt to tear down America’s democracy and install an authoritarian regime right here in the U.S.. Even if you aren’t able to attend the chat, we strongly encourage everyone to watch this and all subsequent hearings on this seditious attack on the country and the rights of all Americans.
Keep in mind, the effort of the GOP and Right Wing extremists to overthrow our democracy did not end on that day, it is plowing ahead day after day on the way through the 2022 elections and coming to a head in 2024. It must be stopped to preserve our democracy and the one thing that can stand against it is an informed and determined public. Watching these hearings is a patriotic and civic responsibility for all citizens of this country who want to defend our democracy from those trying to crush it and replace it with a tyranny of the minority.
