Trump and his supporters have made it crystal clear that they don’t want poor Hispanics coming to the USA. They don’t want Muslims coming to the USA. They don’t want people from what they call shithole countries, primarily from Africa, Asia, Central America and South America coming to this country. Trump and his supporters have also made it crystal clear that they don’t want non-white people living and interacting with them in any way other than a subservient way. Trump and his supporters want to Make America White Again. Not that America was ever white, but since white Europeans came to America they have made it a place where they have privileges over everyone else.
Is anyone surprised that Trump openly suggested that Congresswomen of color who were born in the USA should go back to someplace? Is anyone surprised that Trump’s supporters are saying that is why they voted for him?
Trump’s supporters no doubt actually believed his surface con about making the economy better for them. After all, Trump loves the poorly educated and they apparently love him. But we all know his real con is to Make America White Again.
These people are among us and people like them will always be among us. Bless their hearts. However, we should not allow these people to define us.
What these people refuse to accept is that there is not a liberal America and a conservative America; there is a United States of America.
Those of us who want to preserve and protect The United States of America must step up and do just that. Preserve and protect The United States of America. How do we do that? Well, we can protest. We can complain. OR WE CAN VOTE! You know what I refuse to accept? I refuse to accept that the majority of Americans want the kind of America Trump and his supporters want.
Trump says those who disagree with his policy of putting asylum seekers in concentration camps, hate America. He says those who want all Americans to have access to quality affordable health care, hate America. He says those who want to celebrate the diversity of The United States of America, hate America. Trump wants these people to go back to someplace. Although I won’t suggest that Trump’s supporters should go back to where their ancestors came from, I will admonish them that they don’t have exclusive rights to this country. My ancestors did not come to the USA to seek a better life for them and their families. They were actually kidnapped and enslaved and brought here against their will. Although the founding fathers of this country did not have my ancestors in mind when they wrote the Constitution and indeed they once treated my ancestors like livestock and counted them as three-fifths human, we as a nation of one people have changed that, and we will not allow Trump and his supporters to take us back to a time when that existed and it was “great” for people like him and his supporters.
We can also demand that the people in Congress who represent us impeach and remove from office a person who got the office by conspiring with Russia to undermine the American democratic process and stole an election. Not only that but after he stole the election, he began to dismantle the institutional norms that this country had established over 240 years. Yes, that is no doubt why his supporters voted for him, but my hope is that most of us don’t want a president who said the because he is a celebrity he can grab women by the “pussy”, or a president who has been credibly accused of sexually assaulting over a dozen women, some of which where under the age of sixteen.
We know who Trump and his supporters are. They question is WHO ARE WE!
Trump appeals to his followers in this evil way, but he (an they) must not prevail or this country will become a mass of bottom feeders.
Apparently the majority of the House Democrats agree with trump at the end of the day, as they voted with republicans to kill an impeachment resolution. Either they believe trump has committed impeachable offenses or not. If they are not willing to impeach him, they obviously don’t believe he has committed impeachable offenses. And if they continue with hearings and subpoenas, without a willingness to impeach, they look like they are just playing politics and harassing the president. That can’t bold well for Democrats in 2020. It appears that Democrats have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by letting trump get away with murder when they have it within their power to hold him accountable. If you can’t trust Democrats with a little power, why should you give them more power?

The fact that open and hateful racism is seen in 2019 as a viable campaign strategy for the GOP and Trump is simply disgusting. There literally is no bottom for Trump and the GOP, Trump could indeed shoot minorities on 5th Avenue and Repub pols would defend him as Repub voters cheered him.
This is sick, we have a mentally ill sociopath and racist in power but what’s scarier are the 40% of Americans who love it. And the spineless Repub pols who have nothing or little to say about this madman tearing down our country while accusing those he spews his racism at of doing the very thing he is doing.
It is hard for me to believe that women, African Americans, Latinos, LGBTQ and every other American that has been attacked by Trump or offended by his disgusting behavior, won’t be very energized to go out in Nov 2020 and make sure Trump is defeated and thrown out of power.
As for the mass of racists supporting Trump and the GOP, instead of Biden and Pelosi and others in the Dem Establishment wanting Dems to try and woo over these racists to vote Dem, supporters of racists should be pragmatically viewed as adversaries, not potential allies and energies should be directed at growing turnout of people with consciences and who are under threat by Trump…who are also not racists.
Which is a far bigger swath of voters than Trump voters who claim to be “swing voters”.
