Evan Bayh to resign—Crisis or opportunity?

I heard the deadline for filing to run for Senate (at least in a primary) passed on Feb 9th. It’s almost as if he is conspiring to give the seat to the Republicans.

Duking it out!

I am pretty sure Eric hasn’t changed his mind one bit. But the whole State apparatus was pro Hillary and he is part of that apparatus. I am surprised to hear him blame Obama for not being Clintonesc enough though, when I see that at as Obama’s whole problem so far.

Sorry to be a Newb…

Scroll down the page to META and chose Dashboard. From there go to profile and chose subscriptions and deselect all the topics you don’t want email notifications about (in your case ALL of them) and then click on update preferences. Or at least try all that and see if it works.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is the 2nd of the 4 Holidays of the Apocalypse. Getting it behind me means there are only 2 to go before I can add up how much it all cost.

Why politics?

Very well stated.

I would add that politics also derives from a need to work together for a common interest (which likely evolved out of a realization that working apart and at cross purposes was generally bad for everyone.)

All these absurd Senate rules making HCR so difficult likely exist to give the losers a sense of being part of he process. The will of the majority is not always enough, in our system, and it wasn’t that long ago that I was glad for that un-balancing of power. Of course it can go to far…but nothing is more contentious in politics than changing the rules of the game.

Some Interesting Stats Re Congressional Reps/HC Industry Dollars

Bear in mind that receiving money from the “Health Industry” includes individuals working in said industry and not necessarily coming from the heads of Insurance companies or their PACS. If you go to open secrets and check out Rangle, for instance (http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/industries.php?cycle=Career&type=C&cid=N00000964&newMem=N&recs=20) you can approximate the Times number if you chose Career and start adding up the heath related categories (many of which represent working people and not industries) till you get the 3 million+.

So I am not sure what this chart means – other than that the money did NOT influence the voting, which certainly runs counter the narrative I follow, being on the left and presuming massive corruption on the conservative side of politics.
