Does Anyone Feel the Same as I?

Bless you Kalima. I hear you…from the bottom of my heart…I sincerely do.

Khirad,

I worked retail several years ago. Gained a great deal of respect for what my ex-husband dealt with for 20+ years, but also developed a hatred for the commercialization of the holiday. No wonder he (my ex-husband) didn’t have the spirit of the season. The demand on one is beyond words.

Everyone…as a child my holidays were not without stress…believe me. There were arguments, insults, and anger (mostly between my parents) my father is an alcoholic. However…it was only behind closed doors. Nobody outside had a clue and damn my mother for looking the other way.

At the time I just accepted it and thought all my friends went through the same poop. Little did I know for goodness sakes.

So, when the light bulb went off in my head, I was determined to put a STOP to the nonsense. What a joke…nevertheless I stuck to my guns, drew the line, and in what I believed was in the best interest of my daughters, put an end to it.

My mother died several years ago and as a result of my rebellion and drawing the line in the sand, my father and brothers behaved as if I didn’t exist. In addition, they completely ignored my daughters and former husband. In fact, a message was left on my voice mail that neither I nor anyone else in my immediate family was wanted at her funeral. And…if I showed up? I (we) would be escorted out.

Makes me sad, but I know I’m not or ever was to blame. My mother made a decision many, many years ago, chose to look the other way, and pretended we lived a “Leave It To Beaver” life.

First one to speak up and speak out is sent to the clinker. Unfortunately, I was the oldest and only daughter — three strikes and one is out — I had two before I even realized it. The brothers were angels and saints — especially the “baby.” Sad part is, if it weren’t for me, he would never have been fed, had his diaper changed, his laundry or anything else done. Our mother cried for days when she found out this ooops was on his way. Yet, beyond all of the tears, arguments, and crap? My little brother was the Golden Boy/King Tutankhamun as it were. Little bro did the most damage and caused the most disappointment, yet was treated as if he were a Saint.

Cher,

I know this will sound corny, but bless you my dear, bless you.

Un(der)reported News—Weekend Edition

love and respect you nellie, cross my heart i do, it’s nothing personal…

but given the proximity to all the holidays this week and the nonsense (okay CRAP) going on in DC as well, isn’t there anything positive that was Un(der)reported this week? Rescued puppies or kitties? A plethora of food for a food bank? An overabundance of toys for Toys for Tots? Any activity to show WE are making an effort to pick up some of the slack for the insensitive ones inside the beltway?

» Posted By boomer1949 On December 19, 2009 @ 5:06 pm

To be, or not to be.

Cher,

Ouch, “source codes” Ahhhh, made me laugh. I’ve no clue what Scher is referring about, but I feel you panic attack! πŸ™‚

Scheherazade,

It might be more beneficial to have AdLib, nellie, or K7 (group vote) decide or at least clarify the rules of the road. There are some things I yet know how to do, but would like to know how to do. Seems to me, that any of us who have been determined to be legitimate Planetarians should be on the same page.

AdLib, nellie, K7? Conference, decision, and or decision please?

Maybe much of the backlash is not at the actual bill but because the perception is that Eyore/Droopy Dog got his way. There is a great deal of anger toward this man because a) he is being a jerk, and b) because his is being a jerk, c) all of the above.

And I forgot to add…if Ted Kennedy were still here, his voice would be the same as his wife, Victoria, has indicated. Who among us would/should/could know him better than she?

Khirad,

Too darn tired, didn’t visit Queen of the Damned and, to be perfectly honest, don’t have an actual life even on a Friday night. πŸ™‚

Say it ain’t so Joe…

What an Ass — him not her.

Hey All,

I’d like to apologize because for the last couple of weeks I’ve been said Ole Joe reminds me of Eyore and Deputy Dawg. Well, I’ve discovered I’ve had the dogs confused in my pea brain. It’s not Deputy Dog, it’s Droopy Dog. Ooops! So, ole Joe reminds me of Eyore and Droopy Dog…

Religious Right Holds “Prayercast” To Stop Health Care Bill

kesmarn,

Wouldn’t, couldn’t comment unless I’d been there, done that, and almost bought the tee shirt.

» Posted By boomer1949 On December 17, 2009 @ 9:13 pm

You’re welcome. Sorry I couldn’t remember the exact URL, but at least I remembered how I got there…sort of.

» Posted By boomer1949 On December 17, 2009 @ 9:09 pm

Kalima,

Oh no you haven’t. I just want to skip my Friday and wake up and have my tomorrow be Saturday πŸ™‚ I need to sleep in.

google Family Research Council – they’re right there.

AdLib,

Blacked out? As in Sharpie Marker blacked out?

Okay everyone…my last comment of the day…

Just sent this to the Online Prayer Thingy so I can sleep tonight:

“Online Prayer Cast Inquiry:

Dear Judgmental Family Research Council:

How hypocritical of your organization to argue against health care reform. What would you have done if Jesus had walked past your dieing spouse, child, or parent? At one point in my life, I was involved and heavily influenced by individuals believing the same as you. Saddest part of my life. Why? Because I came to realize no one really cared about me, me the person, me. Nope, y’all just wanted to save my soul. Unfortunately none of you realized how evil you were. Nothing is worse than self-righteous, arrogant, and judgmental humans. Jesus would be so disappointed, so extremely disappointed. Shame, shame on you, your organization, and those you have seduced into believing your “Jim Jones Diatribe”. Grow up and get lives, Sweep your own doorsteps before you take your broom to your neighbor’s house”

I know…as I told Kalima a couple of days ago: I’m wound up tighter than Santa’s alarm clock.

Is it Saturday yet?

Sue,

Believe it. Years ago, my former spouse and I were involved in a group — friends — met once a month. 6-8 couples and 1 couple was Evangelical, hated Catholics (which the rest of us were), were the only ones who had been saved. It was extremely weird. I always wondered why, if we were so “devil-influenced” why they would want to even be around us. I concluded we were their mission. They wanted to save us from ourselves and in order to do so they pretended they enjoyed our company, having our kids be around each other, and basically having fun. Then…cue “Twilight Zone Theme”…they couldn’t accept us for who we were and did everything they could think of to “change” us.

Go figure. Nice family and fun to be around, until…cue “Twilight Zone Theme”…

How are you feeling? Has your day gone well or no? Rest well. See you tomorrow.

» Posted By boomer1949 On December 17, 2009 @ 8:13 pm

Kalima,

And I remember the day Oral Roberts said he would die if he didn’t receive Xdollars in 24 hours. The man lived into his 90’s and was wealthy beyond anyone’s imagination. Right up there with Jim and Tammy Faye Baker — until they got caught.

Many years ago, I was seduced onto this path; all of the above and then some at the top of my list. Not sure what brought me out of my coma, but it’s extremely intense and ultimately very scary.

Remember Jim Jones and Jonestown, Guyana? Same scenarios, brainwashing, and cult mentality. Not to mention they’re 3 fries short of a Happy Meal.

Conferees on the Senate side

nellie,

I’m sorry, but all of this reminds me of a mating dance between penguins in the Antarctic. I can give the penguins a break because eggs and offspring are in the balance.

But the Yahoos in the Senate? I refuse to cut them the same slack. These guys are juggling the lives of millions of uninsured men, women, children, and the elderly. It’s not a game and it’s time they did the job we’re paying them to do. They weren’t sent to DC to do their thing, but to do ours.

Dennis is out there, but makes a hell-uv-a lot of sense. Unfortunately, he doesn’t belong to me. I’m stuck with a Repug (Pat Tiberi). I gave up writing to him months ago. Pointless and a waste of my time. I will, on the other hand, campaign AGAINST him when he is up for reelection.

Also wish Crispy Critter (guess who?) was my Rep. would campaign beyond 100% to see the tan guy lose. Yuck!

Stroke? One could only hope.

Sue,

I thought about it — hesitated — thought about it some more. Considered using my real name, and thought it might be more beneficial to have them check out the Planet. At least they’ll realize I’m not alone and there are many others with similar opinions..and more important? We’re not HP. πŸ™‚

» Posted By boomer1949 On December 17, 2009 @ 7:14 pm

b’to,

a couple more glasses of red and I can be extremely impolite. πŸ™‚ He has become an absolute jerk. Finger in air, which way is the wind blowing and how will it help MY ratings? Duh!

Dinner with friends, uplifting conversation, and Italian Red Wine — “Super Tuscan.” Yumm!

kesmarn,

Sherrod is beyond awesome; he gets it, he listens. He also realizes who he represents and he can’t be bought. Common sense — fantastic character trait. I know this guy can sleep at night and he deserves it.

» Posted By boomer1949 On December 17, 2009 @ 7:04 pm

boo hoo for McSane.
It’s about time for a shake up. Just because “it’s always been done this way” doesn’t mean it isn’t time for change. Jeeze, it isn’t rocket science.

Senator Eyore (my nickname for him) is loyal to no one but his wallet. He has been bought and paid for by all those Insurance HQ lobbies in CT. Screw the voters who put him inside the beltway. The voters don’t have millions.

LOL!!

Did you see him fall all over himself during the campaign? That’s when the S hit the fan for me.
