Nominations – The Planet’s Top Posts of 2009

OK, I will follow the lead and nominate one of my posts. Not because it is so well written or that popular (from the number of comments) but because this bill will be a big bit and you will see billions of dollars spent by corporations lobbying this if it gains steam.

This is a difficult task. There have been many that were thoughtful, educational just plain fun. This is like me in the candy store, with a whole dime as a kid. The penny candies, or two candy bars; or go down the street to the creamery and get a double scoop of black cherry ice cream?

Jolted back to reality

I read along article on the the Sufi in Pakistan by a Pakistani. His hope was that they would “save Pakistan” with their teachings. They really do seem to appreciate and celebrate life. Though pious, their celebrations seem so filled with joy. So far though have have refused to enter into the conflict. Part of their teachings, I gather.

Khirad, another story i seen neglected is the extremists/taliban in Pakistan are being called Takfirs” by many. From what i have read this pejorative means thugs/bandits/ extortionists/ ….Killing fellow Muslims in the name of Islam.
The few times I have read this or heard this was from reporters that actually live in Pakistan.
Why is this not reported in the West?

What better spot could one find to foment/ferment trouble?

I tend to agree with Pepe, he will end up being a “wanna-be” and not mentally stable. Or he got a Gilbert Chemistry kit for Christmas.~

With the investigation barely begun, two Repug. Reps can’t resist the need to add their “thoughts.”
Rep. King (R-NY) decided that this was so important that the rules of the committee didn’t needed to be followed. After a briefing he just had to get the news of the briefing out to the press.

Rep. Hoekesta (R-MI), went one better. He didn’t need no stinking breifing to blame Pres. Obama.

Un(der)reported News—Christmas Edition

Hello, j’avaz, hope you had a pleasant Christmas. It is “freezing” here for me. I need some of those gloves from Dickens with the fingertips cut off and a pair of lambs wool boots in this shack.

» Posted By bito On December 26, 2009 @ 2:11 pm

j’avaz, nellie, Why in my mind did I think that Nazareth was larger than 50 homes? Must have been all those picture books in Sunday School of the “throngs”of people. ~smile~

» Posted By bito On December 26, 2009 @ 1:54 pm

Again, nellie, a great-fun post. I love to read stories that I don’t come across from around the nation and world. I do get hung-up and enjoy reading some of the other local stories from the links. One that caught my eye: “Pirate Update: Ariana Crew Abandoned Again”. Something to do about Greeks and the name “Ariana” 🙂 http://www.salem-news.com/

A Loving Heart

Nice and thoughtful post, peacekitten.
Something that I noticed today, there has not been a peep about the Senate voting to raise the debt ceiling for the government. The vote was that “magical” number 60 to 39! Can anyone imagine what devastation it would be if the U.S defaulted on it’s debts? Talk about a world wide depression!!! Yet, the Rethugs, every last one, voted against it. These “people” have less sense and compassion as a toad stool. More than 35% wold be out of a job and on the streets. What is the sense in this? This may be a bit O/T, but I can’t figure this out. How many homeless do they want?

Help Desk

I agree Kalima, it’s great that KT is doing it, I gave it a go for a while and after a time you are scratching your noggin trying to think of something new or hasn’t been done in awhile. I’m not sure how AdLib comes up with so many.
Go for it KT, I’m quite sure AdLib really appreciates it and you come well equipped with your musical encyclopedia in your brain! Good job!

» Posted By bito On December 6, 2012 @ 7:13 pm

Good, Sue, I wasn’t exactly sure how to fix it or what you meant. 😉

» Posted By bito On November 19, 2012 @ 4:39 pm

I agree Kalima, a part two seems best to me.

Good morning, hope you’re feeling better, I am just now headed off to a nap, see you later.

Murph, the visual and html tabs are right on top of the box you insert your post. First thing you see after the title box.

Did you follow my suggestions? Did you use all the links for images on the page? https://planetpov.com/faq/how-to-guide-for-authors/

Murph, I’m unsure of your terminology “post prep page” No idea what that is.

Are you writing in HTML? I never do, I do mine in visual and use HTML only for certain things.

Try going to visual save your work and refresh your page. Zemantia has been sluggish lately and refreshing has worked for me.

As for the pic, have you exhausted all the suggestions listed here? https://planetpov.com/faq/how-to-guide-for-authors/
is so, I don’t know what to tell you, there may not be such a pic.

You got it Sally!

» Posted By bito On July 5, 2012 @ 9:52 pm

Sally, it’s quite easy and it helps to show that one is quoting someone’s work product. It’s just blockquote with an lesser than “carrot” at the beginning and a greater than one at the end.
<....>

3. ADDING A QUOTE IN A POST OR COMMENT- When using the “blockquote” feature, you can display a quote from an article or person in a highlighted box so it will be clearly seen as a quote. Here is an example of how to use this feature, by adding the specific “blockquote” tags around what I want to appear as a quote like this:

BREAKING NEWS: Palin declares snow “cold”.

You will find this and other tips in our FAQ https://planetpov.com/faq/

» Posted By bito On July 5, 2012 @ 8:05 pm

Sally what I do for pics is right click the image and choose “view image” Copy the URL and paste into the “Add an image to your comment by clicking here box.

different ways to do it, I know AdLib does it different than I do, and I do it different than Kalima, 😆 just keep trying it and find one you like that works for you.

» Posted By bito On April 26, 2012 @ 7:14 pm

Sally, I’m not sure what the problem is. You should be able to just C&P the link in the box after you click Add an image to your comment by clicking here. below your comment. Should work. I don’t mind doing it if I see it and I’m around.

» Posted By bito On April 26, 2012 @ 6:45 pm

Sue, you have to highlight the link, copy it and then click the “link” in the editing bar and paste it in. Do you want me to take a look or do you want to try to learn how and do it? It’s easy. I’ll look at your post on the video.

» Posted By bito On April 23, 2012 @ 3:47 pm

Sue, I’m not sure where your cross-posting question is so I’ll answer it here.

We welcome cross-post of original material by the authors and we certainly welcome yours. The members appreciate your work here on PPOV and I’m sure they would also enjoy that one on ALEC. Please feel free to mention that it was cross posted/originally posted at:________, that way both sites members may introduced to a new site. I think it’s a win-win for both sites.
Your work and the subjects you write about needs to be read by as many people as possible and I/we was just offering you the opportunity.

Your choice Sue.

What can I say, it happens. Kalima’s isn’t working either.

Makes me very curious since 2009 and I have never had any of the unique problems you cite nor have I heard of them from others. Similar, perhaps but they are usually resolved by clearing one’s cache and restarting one’s browser. I tend to agree with AdLib and this is a local problem.

» Posted By bito On November 7, 2011 @ 12:10 pm

I can’t find the problem either, AdLib. I can find the Home Page quite easily and from different search engines and various ways.

» Posted By bito On November 7, 2011 @ 11:16 am

Murph, I put it back in draft, edit away.

» Posted By bito On November 6, 2011 @ 2:03 pm

Em, I saw you mention this the other day, and we will have to look into it, I wonder if anyone else is having this problem? It’s the first time I have heard of anyone having this problem. Weird. Thanks.

Quite simply Murph, the “Users > admin > edit” forums and tips are for the administrators of the site and do not pertain to members. I doubt that anything found on those pages would be of much use to non-administrators.
