Displaying 91 To 120 Of 339 Comments Secrets From Beyond The Emerald Curtain – PART 2 – I just wandered over to the Emerald Isle for a bit – nothing too controversial – but there are at least 3 pro-Empress apologies in the Media section. A little touchy, are we? Go figure… » Posted By audadvnc On April 8, 2011 @ 7:32 am Americans Can Lose Weight By Doing Nothing (Really!) BDM FTW! If only I could learn to push my chair back under the table when I finish dinner, maybe my CRHW won’t need bail! Actually she has been losing weight since I’ve met her, to the point I’m now loading up her dinner plate and encouraging her to eat. Too much bedtime exercise, and not enough chocolate, I’m afraid… » Posted By audadvnc On April 7, 2011 @ 6:14 am S’cuse Me While I Kiss The Sky Ayn Rand reminds me of Eva Gabor’s verse in the theme song for “Green Acres”: “New York is where I’d rather stay – » Posted By audadvnc On April 8, 2011 @ 10:50 am The Democratic Scorpions: Always the Sting in Our Own Collective Ass CT – Why, oh why, do you still believe the Democrats are on your side? Democrats are merely the “nice cop” face of the corrupt, cannibalistic US Establishment. Tim Geithner and his bosses plan to cut your throat and eat you up, no matter which way you vote. I’ll quote from a commenter on a YouTube video that analysed that bogus Obama re-election ad; “The Obama story was the best, it was a progressive story with systematic changes Amerika needed. Obama has NOT delivered, who the hell is gonna believe his story THIS TIME? Not a chance.” Present company excluded, of course… » Posted By audadvnc On April 6, 2011 @ 1:32 pm Articles and comments like these are what keep bringing me back to PlanetPOV. I know people I used to call friends, that I can no longer abide due to their extreme anger and political blindness, all fed of course by the propagandists on the Right. OTOH, the modern Democratic administration is completely to blame for the position they’re in, by giving away the store to Wall Street thieves. Did you catch Tim Geithner’s latest outrage? He plans to exempt the $4 trillion-a-day foreign-currency market from key provisions of the Dodd-Frank Act requiring greater transparency in the trading of derivatives. That can’t have unforseen consequences … can it? Who benefits? Say, did you catch that rousing pro-labor speech Vice President Biden gave in Madison last Saturday? Now THAT’s leadership. Have you ever heard such a rousing stem-winder, that hit all the right notes? Isn’t that what you’d expect from the Hope and Change leadership of our country? Seriously, did you hear his speech? Look it up: http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Cannibalism “…the act or practice of eating members of one’s own species and usually refers to human beings eating other humans (sometimes called anthropophagy).” The rich eat their employees, and poop out money. » Posted By audadvnc On March 12, 2011 @ 5:01 pm Arianna’s Marie Antoinette Moment In Minnesota, 1862, the Dakota Indians had been forced off their lands by settlers and were slowly starving on unproductive land. According to legend, at a meeting of the Dakota, the U.S. government and local traders, the Dakota representatives asked the representative of the government traders, Andrew Jackson Myrick, to sell them food on credit. His response was said to be, “[S]o far as I am concerned, let them eat grass.” A few months later, during the Dakota uprising, Mr. Myrick was found dead, scalped, his mouth stuffed with grass. » Posted By audadvnc On March 8, 2011 @ 6:37 am LET ‘EM EAT CAKE!!! » Posted By audadvnc On March 1, 2011 @ 12:00 pm In the World of the Blind, We’re Often Led Off the Cliff The authoritarian drive to unite as a social and political force is a personality quirk of people drawn to the right, just as the drive to be independent of central authority partly defines the social consciousness of their counterparts on the left: “…a nation is an organic community that requires strong leadership, singular collective identity, and the will and ability to commit violence and wage war in order to keep the nation strong….strength through unity: a single rod is easily broken, while the bundle is difficult to break.” From the wikipedia page on fascism: Of course there’s more to it than the one-dimensional left/right axis – but it’s a powerful influence. » Posted By audadvnc On February 28, 2011 @ 8:03 am “The American Dream…a Cautionary Tale” I was in a department teleconference this morning, listening to a Boss tell us, now that we’ve instituted 10% price increases on all our products, we now have to cut back on discounting, otherwise the new gains will be lost. Left unsaid, of course, was how many customers will take their money and leave in disgust. There are few things that will make a boss more uncomfortable than stating the obvious… » Posted By audadvnc On February 25, 2011 @ 1:50 pm I saw it coming as far back as 2002, I remember discussing the bubble with friends over barbecue. They thought I was all wet. Of course, the guys who set up the whole system – didn’t know, or so they claimed. Was it Bernanke, or Greenspan, Summers, or Geithner? (yes to all). One of them said something to the effect of, “We had no way of knowing this would happen, how could we?” Wink, nod… » Posted By audadvnc On February 25, 2011 @ 1:43 pm The Kochroaches Emerge from the Woodwork I worked in a union shop for a few years, as an IBEW electrician. It was just fine for everybody – the business and their customers got trained, guaranteed competent skilled labor, and everybody made money. Nowadays I work (in management) at an AFSCME union hotel – again, the union represents the workers fairly. Nobody’s making big money here this season, but each of us has a job that pays the bills, during a recession that shows no end in sight (no matter what the President says). I don’t see what the problem is with unions. It appears to me that folks at the top are being too greedy for their own good, and are about to choke off the golden goose. » Posted By audadvnc On February 25, 2011 @ 7:33 am The Smoking Gun! Love it – Gov Walker, that phone call killed your career!!! » Posted By audadvnc On February 25, 2011 @ 7:30 am It would help if people could get past the “Liberals want bigger, more intrusive gov’t” line spewed by the right, even though it seems they’re perfectly OK with TSA patdowns and unlimited warfare against anybody at all. What are your suggestions? » Posted By audadvnc On February 25, 2011 @ 7:28 am Glad to see how you spelled out the way that workers were driven from the Democratic Party by Eastern Establishment big money functionaries. Ever since Clinton, the Dems figured workers were expendable. Perhaps this last couple weeks will act as a wake-up call to the folks in the Loop that there are other issues than whatever Mr. Bernanke says they are. But probably not – they’ve been in bed with the plutocrats so long, they’re lost. » Posted By audadvnc On February 25, 2011 @ 7:15 am Arab Uprisings: Still Writing History Sure we know who they are – they are self interested power groups. There is no moral high ground in power politics. As we in the West have slowly come to understand, the difference between partisan, patriot, bandit, terrorist and freedom fighter is razor thin. Often it’s merely a matter of definition, a talking point in some propagandist’s spin cycle, and almost always irrelevant to people on the ground in a war zone. Today’s rebel is tomorrow’s governor, and vice versa. » Posted By audadvnc On March 26, 2011 @ 9:03 am Why does the gov’t go along with right wing fringe groups? They’re spiritual brethren – people into force and guns tend to have other mutual interests. And those interests have almost nothing in common with yours. They own guns for protection – from what? You and I represent everything they find disgusting, frightening and perverted in society. Given their druthers, we would be – gone. That’s why they’ll send undercover FBI agents to spy on antiwar coffee klatsches, while encouraging armed Tea Partiers at Obama rallies. Just sayin’… “one plus one plus one = fill in the blank”. » Posted By audadvnc On February 22, 2011 @ 10:18 amComments Posted By audadvnc

The US Army encourages soldiers to play death metal music while they are on combat missions, and supplies electronic sights, to foster a video game-like environment; that enemy combatants are subhuman and may be killed without remorse.
