Displaying 0 To 0 Of 0 Comments We should just consider the source when it comes to McCain (and Graham — as they are, for all purposes, one person with two heads). Here is a man who is haunted by the failures and demons of his past military service, who believes he can redeem himself by returning to the battlefield. He is crippled by his narrow-mindedness and Failure-to-Please-Daddy issues. He, like many neocons, are people who have wasted decades of other people’s lives in pursuit of exoneration for the string of miserable wars. » Posted By Wallysmom On June 16, 2014 @ 10:55 am It’s rare that I agree with Joe Scarborough. When not blowing his own horn about his stint in Congress, he is a cheerleader for the party establishment and everything that is incorrect about the Republican party….but, I agree with one point. Interested in your opinions as well. The US has been the police nation of the world for too long. While Europe sits as an observer, it stands to be most effected by unrest in Iraq and Syria. Other than Britain, our allies in the EU do little and care little. Americans have little to no appetite to continue Middle East policy in the Bush style, and most rational (and sane) Americans ignore the war whistle of McCain, but there needs to be some serious prodding of our allies to do a little more than watch the US offer arbitration and military aid. » Posted By Wallysmom On June 16, 2014 @ 5:07 am Was Pvt. Bergdahl Choosing Suicide? Thanks. Pretty upset with a comment recently made by our Senator, Richard Blumenthal, about the error of the White House in regard to notifying Congress about the Bergdahl release. He speculates that it may have been illegal. Not the wisest approach for a Democratic senator in a blue state. It is not as much about the process as it is the rightness of the action. I think, or at least I hope, Blumenthal may have thrown out the question to get the debate over with before the Republicans run with the Impeachment Ball. The Senate did know about the possible release of Gitmo detainees for Bergdahl back in November. But because some of their constituents are back home whining, it’s an election year, they are looking for cover. Had it been 2013, I doubt the bruhaha would have reached this level. But then again, it’s Obama. He can’t even chew gum without hearing about it. » Posted By Wallysmom On June 10, 2014 @ 11:52 am Finally glad to be here, reading a blog by one of the best commentators — Murph, another refugee from HuffPo who wants to talk and have meaningful dialogue instead of reading about someone’s nipple slip and the Jenner/Kardashian latest idiocy. » Posted By Wallysmom On June 8, 2014 @ 6:46 pm One Veteran’s Opinion About the POW Swap Firstly, thanks for your service in a war few really talk about or acknowledge. We don’t know the full story and the idea of being responsible and patient until all the facts are available is the way the media and the Congress should be handling this, not rushing out to every outlet to expound on the truthfulness or patriotism of Sgt. Bergdahl. By the Republican response it seems that they are more interested in a faux scandal than the safety of one of our own. » Posted By Wallysmom On June 9, 2014 @ 5:41 am Huffington Post Finalizes Its Divorce From Its Bloggers I totally hear you about the Facebook connect with HP. I never linked up for the exact reason you mentioned. I don’t believe in mixing my personal and political life. Facebook has hack issues as well. Anyone who has been there in a while (me, since 2008) has seen it dissolve into a tabloid. » Posted By Wallysmom On June 9, 2014 @ 4:23 pmComments Posted By Wallysmom
The fact that the Republicans have dashed to remove all “Free Bergdahl” references from their webpages (Congressional and otherwise) proves the hypocrisy and the sad fact they cannot understand the trauma that soldiers, like Bergdahl go through in these bloody, meaningless conflicts. They insult so many who have come back with PTSD and injuries that will change their lives for ever. The faux outrage over the VA debacle is yet another. We should be happy he is home. Perhaps even learn something from what we ask others to do for us.
