I am pretty sure the Michigan law gives people like First Responders the right to refuse treatment if they believe the person practices “activities” that are not allowed in the Old Testament because these bills are based on that section of the Bible. This all just makes me queasy and very uncomfortable that people who made a fuss will walk away thinking they have won but the amendment, if any, will be worded such that there is an escape clause for bigots. I would say it is scary to see these things being implemented so quickly but they are not. They have been planning this for a very long time. I believe the bill passed in the 90’s was a test to see how far they could go and to use just as they are now doing. I am in a really troubling place because I am also beginning to believe I cannot trust Dems either. The turnout in the midterms was so disappointing that I changed my affiliation the next day to AI. Debbie Wasserman Schultz is not doing a great deal since then to re-gain my trust either. I am a Sanders leftie and will work for him in the primaries but if Hillary does win, my vote will go to her, grudgingly, though. I just really wish there was an alternative for many who felt that the alternative person was strong enough to overcome the two major parties but even TeaBillies and Libertarians still run under the Republican ticket. I appreciate that you are also spreading the word but I would also caution you about Stephen Harper. He is mixed up with a group here called Council for National policy. I did a piece here on them and will find it for you. With the veto of the pipeline, he and the Kochs may show their true colors to even Canadians. Harper had such hubris that he thought Canada could claim eminent domain on United States land. Unlucky for him the people who were going to lose their land stood up and said, no. This is just my own thoughts but I believe if a Republican were to be back in the WH, Harper would exercise that eminent domain to help them along and it would have been too late for Americans. I don’t know if it will ever truly happen but I have to say the mentality of people here makes it ripe for some kind of “coup”. Many scoff at the idea , so the fact that the President scoffs at the idea of ISIS as Islam is no big surprise. The kicker is that Dominionists in Congress or society recognize it, whether subconsciously or consciously because they are being taught the same methods. I always try to differentiate between Dominionists and Maniline Christianity but the problem is without research it is hard for someone who has not studied them to understand. Almost every single time I have to go in to the long explanation and people still refuse to believe. The people who vehemently disagree are most likely recognizing their own religious experience. There are certain code words etc that identify these people and after Steeplejacking it is necessary to even look in detail at some mainline churches because they are a “division” in some form of Domionist teachings. After all, what better way to spread your message and get rid of open and affirming denominations than to take over their churches? One thing that I think has to be understood is that the people who go for this are usually the marginalized or disenfranchised people in society or the people looking for an authoritarian way of life. In that respect, we really do have to look at the Bush administration for helping to bring this group about when they invaded a sovereign country to steal their oil and to satisfy some sick idea of a Hatfield and McCoy relationship between Saddam and the Bushes. There were definitely other reasons, testing a two front war, distracting from the real culprits of 9/11, Babylon as the cradle of civilization etc. That last one would be a screwed up machination of George Bush’s religious beliefs that he is really not even intellectual enough to understand except for his own sick translation. He is like the new convert that likes the “idea” of the group’s ideas but screws it all up in his head because he latches on to save himself from something else and is not really sincere in his beliefs. After all, you don’t see him engaged in any religious activities in his retirement. He used them, they used him which is another sick joke played on the American people because it really opened the door for these people in government. Good article. The only thing we really can do is try to educate people but quite frankly, I think, like global warming, we may be too far gone with these people holding office and laymen and women refusing to believe what is going on around them. My husband was always either the Manager or a Coach so he saw up close and personal exactly what you are talking about. I always loved the Independents who sat around chatting all through each and every game while I took score and I mean each and every game. Of course the Tea Party parents always questioned how a score was decided….sigh. I was never so happy as when my husband picked a kid that everyone else bypassed and his mother WANTED to be the socrekeeper. Turns out this kid was the number one pitcher in the league, making our daughter number 2. But even though we had the number 1 and two pitchers, we lost the championship game because the umpire was a bagger lol. Even parents on the other team said it was a strike….poor Tony Phipps, he played his heart out and he lost it on a bad call. When you get to high school, it gets better. We were fortunate that my daughter had great coaches all through High School. They did not move her up too fast but took their time developing her. In her Senior year she made First Team All DVAL and was first at Shortstop and Pitching voted by all the coaches in the District. She also got MVP. Her coaches made that possible because they took the time to develop her skills and she had the desire to play. High School can be a hole new ball game but it will still be important for the parents in the stands to support the whole team. Lucky for High School coaches, most games start at 3:30 and not many parents are off work at that time LOL. Super analogy.
