I guess President Obama shouldn’t have used that “red line” threat. Maybe he should have gone with, “I dare you”. If that didn’t work he could have gone with double dare, triple dare, triple dog dare, quadruple, etc etc etc. That certainly would have kept him out of the corner a little longer. 😉

Of course you are more familiar with things there and I appreciate you clearing things up for me. But, in an interview with Cameron today I thought I saw a little relief. (He did appear a little bent over because of all those knives in his back, tho.) I am glad that the bombardment of the MPs worked and they listened.

Oh, Itchy, you need a scratch? I understand your sarcasm. I am worried that we may act too fast on this serious matter. I think that Cameron knew how Parliament was going to vote and this got him off the hook. “They won’t let me, Barack.” I still think that the President should go to Congress with this and make them pack some of the weight of this decision. However, I have a feeling they will vote to go with him. (Yes the Republicans will because of their buddies in the weapon manufacturing and this has always been in their plans.) I would be more upset if this was coming from Canada than Great Britain.
There is so many questions still left to answer and those include how do we get out if we go in. And, what else will come into play if we do. Do we know where the weapons are now and if they have been moved or not? We have had real problems finding them once we get there……How do you destroy chemical weapons without them going into the atmosphere? Or, how do you contain them until they are removed and how do you know you got all of them? How do we handle those poor innocent people there now and after? There of course are so many more that I hope someone is looking at.

Okay, you know I do not like W but in defense of him just a wee little bit, he said that he couldn’t attend because his father is seriously ill and he needs to remain close. I think their house butts up to the golf course?????? 😉
You may want to mark this because I am pretty sure that this will be the only time I will ever defend W! But, I didn’t want you, AdLib, to have to pull an O’Reilly! 🙂

I have to say that Secretary Kerry made a very complaining argument for our involvement. But, I still agree with AdLib, you, and others that we need to continue approaching this in the correct way. President Bush and the Iraq War has made everyone suspicious of our intelligence. I hope and remain pretty sure that President Obama will handle it correctly and restore faith in US again. He ain’t no rodeo clown. That was the guy before in the cowboy boots.

I can make a reason, whether it flies of not (no pun intended). Chemical Weapons are distributed into the atmosphere. They can not be corralled. Nations/countries adjoining or near become at risk without being part of any uprising in the other. Their innocent citizens maybe harmed. That is why the use of these weapons are a red line that should not be crossed.

Now I can make an argument, too, that there is danger in Nuclear Plants, GMO’s in the food, and poisoning water with corporate run off. I say there are weapons there that should be looked at with red.

I read somewhere that they thought that they were thermobaric weapons. Those can be in bomb form. I guess that is why we should wait and see the inspection report from the UN.

Hello KT! I don’t know if the rebel have access to Chemical Weapons but I don’t know for sure who the rebels are. I don’t know who all they have working with them and the access to anything they have.

I hope our involvement can be avoided. War is never good no matter which side you are on. But, if nothing is done does that lead to other countries doing something similar because they have nothing to fear in repercussions? It isn’t like there isn’t a lot going on all over the place in the Mideast. Who are the good guys? And, those good guys turn bad later sometimes.

We have turned a blind eye on Chemical Weapons used on citizens before but the one I am thinking of was when Reagan was President however he was missing a lot of things there at the end of his term……….

On AJA they just had a former UN Weapon Inspector and he said that those in Syria are scheduled to leave on Saturday. It will take 4 to 5 days to test, study and report on their findings. But, they are only checking to see if Chemical Weapons have been used, not who used them. According to him and those he is in contact with, the UN’s inspections have been very limited in Syria by both sides.

Hey, I just heard that Russia is sending a couple of war ships to the Syria region. Didn’t Sarah Palin say that when Putin raised his head he would first go to Alaska? Hell, Putin doesn’t even want to be anywhere that she is! Oh, come on, Mr. Putin, take Sarah for a ride! A long, long, long ride. One way.

Unfortunately, AdLib, we have been one of the worst in using Chemical Weapons from the Natives here and elsewhere to World War II and the dropping of the bomb. (Which lead to other nations developing their own.) Of course we can’t forget Vietnam and Agent Orange.(Which we turned around and sold to others.)

I am with Sue, killing is killing, dead is dead. But, the war drums are pounding and the President is in the band. The UN was developed to avoid war without negotiations, inspections, and protection of the innocent people caught in-between. We should follow the protocol whenever it is possible. I am with you that I think there still is time to do so, plus, involve our Congress. Their shoulders should not be free from the weight of this decision.

With all that said, I am with most of the nation, I am tired of war! I am upset with the amount of money spent on everything that goes into that war with no return except for the weapon manufacturers. Our citizens are losing services and necessities to cover the costs. And, the loss of life on all sizes but especially our citizens fighting in a part of the world that has been fighting since most of their sand was under water! Who are the good guys over there? We aren’t so good at knowing that from past involvements. How many more will be killed?
I hate to be lied to and fear used to tell me that white is black and straight is crooked. Facts! Lots of Facts! Substantiated Facts! Need to know.
This nation has given up much for all wars we have been involved in and the last two aren’t really over. I know we can’t be Switzerland but we have brought ourselves to the position of World Police with our own actions in the past. However, I have to stop and think that we are in that position primarily because we don’t want any other country to do as we have once done ourselves.

It is a difficult decision and for now I have to hold faith in those we have elected and those that the Tea Party got in there. Okay, now I am a little scared…………

Supreme Court Arsonists: Pouring Gasoline on the Embers of the Civil War

The times they are a changin’. There will come a time when the whites will be out numbered. They better hope that those they have discriminated against are better at forgetting than those that lost the Civil War or need a fence to protect the border. The Republicans can not win with only the white vote. Don’t think those in Congress don’t know that. Sure they can play games with their redistricting and such but they are going to need some people of color to win the White House again. All the Supreme Court has done is lite a fire under those same people that stood in line for hours in the last election to do it again. There is time to help those that need ID’s, as CL suggested, before 2014.
And, as I said somewhere else today to those in TX that jumped with glee with this ruling. I can’t wait for those people of color to over take the whites in TX and impose voting restrictions against the whites that they can’t vote until they have mowed the lawns of those they discriminated against back when. Pay backs can be a bitch.

AdLib, as usual, an interesting article. I am in a ponder about this issue. As I have stated on here in Off Topic, I feel because of our desires for gadgets and convenience we have given up much of our privacy. Now in thinking about this information gathering, I do have concerns. This information is being collected and monitored by independent private contracted companies for the government. And, those private contractors have gotten aggressive with their power in their government contracted roles, such as Black Water. So, I am taking the political parties out of it and I am concerned. Like this young man, how many others have access to this information? Since most private companies are only concerned about profits and especially for the salaries at the top, say one of these lower employees paid minimum wage (okay probably more than that but it is just an example here) gets an offer to sale information on someone. Do they? Let’s say there is a movement by environmentalists against an oil company or a pipeline or fracking and the corporations that are involved asks for information on all these environmentalists to build a case against them. Or just to dig into their history to throw doubt or tarnish the individuals. Like the Occupy Movement and it being infiltrated. They get names of people to help get them in and maybe even use blackmail on something they have gotten on that person through the history they have reviewed. I can see Monsanto doing it on people campaigning against their poisoning us. It isn’t the government under another President but those corporations, banks, Wall Street, and others with so much money to buy Congress now go to buy information to destroy those trying to change things for the better. One can only imagine the depths that it can be used in politics. The NSA did aid in getting us into a war in Iraq. And, not to sound like someone with a tin foil hat but lets say you are one of these private prisons and you need more inmates to make more money……I can see where there is danger.

Koch Funded or Founded Institutions/Policy Centers

You have to think for yourself. Not because your party or the people serving in the party tell you it is the right thing to do. There is money behind most of them because now a days they wouldn’t be there. Of course there has always been money behind politics and politicians. However, I think it is more apparent now because so few have it and you can more easily see who the guys behind the curtain are, if you look, because it is the same 100. And, why are they contributing? Surprise! For their own purposes not for you unless you fit in. They will poison you in oh so many ways. As the old saying goes, follow the money.

And, may I add that with all the “inside trading” none of them leave office that they haven’t enriched themselves! They may not enter as millionaires but they will leave as one. (Don’t think any law that was enacted stopped it. Easy to get around it. After all, they wrote it.)

I am a little cynical but I think that has come with my age and research.
