I’ve been craptured.

Welcome aboard.

Huh! Just read the report. It is not impossible. Certainly the lack of defensive wounds is telling.

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 24, 2009 @ 11:15 pm

Who is “they”?

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 24, 2009 @ 11:05 pm

It did not need to be flattery to be flattering.

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 24, 2009 @ 11:04 pm

Regarding Huff, you are singing to the choir.

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 24, 2009 @ 6:52 pm

You could do as I did, and hound AC for all her shit, including holding her responsible on a personal level for the murder of that census worker.

And what you wrote to me on the other thread was about the kindest thing ever said to me on a blog. I’m blushing.

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 24, 2009 @ 6:51 pm

Huff has a business model, and you and I do not fit in it.

Sorry. I got nothing more. Except to say that we would be delighted to see more of you here.

Afghana-Stand-or-Go?

Not to rain on the parade too hard, but the Green Zones would be target one for suicide bombers. The distinction between the Green Zone in Iraq and the ones you suggest here, is that the Iraq Green Zone was primarily a hub of Westerners, doing military/diplomatic work.

These Afghani Zones you propose would be home to any number of civilians. The whole trick of being an insurgent is to look like the civilians.

And it sure sounds like a ghetto to me.

I really do not see any solution that the American people would back up. The American people are willing to send the Afghanis a few dozen rolls of toilet paper and that is about it. We really are not going to hang with this.

This is so like the abortion debate. Dog help the Rethugs if abortion is ever banned nation wide. And they know it. The last thing the Rethugs want is to win the abortion fight. They need their base inflamed. (Which can be a very painful condition, perhaps some ointment would help?)

The Thugs know full well that Afghanistan is a black hole. They are just panting at the opportunity to declare Obama a failure in Afghanistan.

Why that man wanted the job is beyond me.

Do not go gentle into that good night (well, on second thought…)

Wow, that is crazy.

I’ll try to understand it and implement it the next time I need to.

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 24, 2009 @ 12:01 pm

You gotta help me figure out why I keep failing at this.

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 24, 2009 @ 10:55 am

Jezus, how harrowing.

The fact is that 30% of all our heath care dollars are wasted. Spent on stuff that need never be done. That at end of life the number does not shoot way above 30% amazes me.

And I can never get a picture to post, either. Perhaps next time I will work in a different browser.

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 24, 2009 @ 10:48 am

Why I blog, at least

Yer welcome.

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 27, 2009 @ 9:49 am

Wachootakinbout?

I lived in England as a kid. Fish and Chips, and the only proper topping is vinegar.

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 23, 2009 @ 1:13 pm

Well, it is full of Frenchies.

And they put gravy on their fries. Wazzup with that?

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 23, 2009 @ 12:58 pm

Pepe,

Good stuff and much of it I could have said myself. Yeah, Tester and Webb, that felt real good!

I blog for one more reason (if I skimmed thru too quickly, sorry): I like to argue and debate. I like to put my views out there and do the to and fro.

I like to stand and deliver. I am mystified by people who seem to think that they can contradict or dismiss my comments but insist that I not come back to explain to them how they are wrong. Or if they make it a personal attack, why it is that they think I am not going to return more of the same.

That said, I do have a responsibility to be a little extra civil here, which is fine. But really, I like the debate, and if someone wants to dismiss a comment of mine or contradict it, they need to be ready for me to come back and advance my argument.

Oh, and damn I’m glad you are here!

Senate of Kings: Can voters ever really claim their democratic power?

It is not that I hate emoticons. It is that I despise the pointless and promiscuous over-reliance on emoticons.

Sheese. Did everybody forget how to write in whole sentences and full paragraphs?

The occasional LOL or smiley does not disturb me. Even the occasional discussion of pets. Shit, do you want to exchange recipes? I like that.

I have a spreadsheet that I put together a while back, you need to show me how to post it: It lists the states and population and representation.

The Dem Caucus represents 2/3rds of America, the Thugs 1/3rd.

Which I suppose is better than the situation a few years back when the Thugs had 55 seats and represented 45% of America But not much.

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 23, 2009 @ 11:31 am

The only catalyst that I can imagine that could change this is finding about 35 senators going to prison in the same month on bribery charges.

The American people have lots of issues to concern them, and will never look at the structure of the Senate without some outrageous crime to be, well, outraged over.

I’m open to other scenarios.

And not just under my hat!

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 23, 2009 @ 10:53 am

I’m just saying that hypocrisy is perhaps a pretty weak word for Fredo. I don’t want to flatter the little toad that much.

Oh, I hate his fucking guts. Just in case that is not clear.

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 23, 2009 @ 10:38 am

Oh, speaking of Framers and Original Intent, I am sick of hearing about it.

None of the Framers have appeared on any of the ballots that I have ever voted.

Their “Original Intent” is not some freaking tablet from on high. It is a document that free people should amend at will. Only a slave follows the original intent slavishly.

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 23, 2009 @ 10:04 am

Thanks for the clip. I am not sure it is hypocrisy, exactly. I’m not sure that is the correct term. I think it is something much more sinister.

I wonder at times if Fredo is sane, I wonder sometimes if he is evil. I certainly regret that Connecticut did not have a sore loser law back in 2006.

The Senate used to be even more remote and undemocratic, as you know. The Framers (genuflect when you say that!) intended that the Senate be utterly safe from the voters. Senator were chosen by the various state legislatures, so I guess we have made progress.

Hell, used to be you needed to be a white male property (real estate) owner to vote in this country, so I like the trend.

Imagine the effort to move a constitutional amendment to change the way we elect senators? What would you prefer? That they only have four year terms and two classes? Or should they all be elected in the presidential year?

Try to imagine that. Imagine how different politics would be if the whole elected government stood in the presidential year.

Ah! I have the subject of my next seminar! Gotta run!

Seriously, Fredo just chaps my ass. I wish the party would take him out in a row boat.

Hi, I’m Rob-S, and I’m a Moderatorholic

Sorry, I did not mean to say that AC threw the switch that banned K7.

But rather that K7 threw himself on the electrified fence in an effort to slap the shit out of that smug little twit.

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 23, 2009 @ 10:32 pm

Welcome aboard!

We do occasionally butt heads here, but we do try to keep it civil.

Some of us are more “stand and deliver” than are others. Just rock and roll.

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 23, 2009 @ 10:29 pm

Who are you kidding?

You have already been fitted for your vestments!

I suppose you expect me to swing the goddam incense as you parade around?

Not on your nellie! (Sos to speak)

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 23, 2009 @ 10:26 pm

I enjoy slapping the shit out of trolls.

Is that OK?

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 23, 2009 @ 10:23 pm

Oh, alright, I’ll offer one more comment on this one:

Funny! Rob really is a little Napoleon.

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 23, 2009 @ 8:47 pm

Keyrist I detest AC.

It was she that lead to the banning of K7.

» Posted By KevenSeven On November 23, 2009 @ 12:29 pm

RobS is a little turd, and that is all I have to say about Huff today.

Except that we should all be passing the word about the planet over there!

Destroying Religion: The Essential Task at Hand?

Wow, has this thread still got any life?

I object to people telling me that they know the mind of God. As if that were possible. Oh, excuse me, I’m a humble Christian on a mission from God, oh, and I’m here to tell you how to run your life.

I like Dawkin’s attitude: Science can tell us what the world is. And we can use philosophy to discuss how we conduct our lives. Not really terribly complex.
